Who said Final Fantasy Versus XIII would skip today’s 25th anniversary event?

While not totally inaccurate, Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada did name drop the game during the exhibit’s opening ceremony. He started off by saying that the series [naturally] isn’t done. In fact it’s appeared on a variety of consoles. Of course, Versus XIII is also in production.

In case you needed yet another confirmation.

Other highlights from the ceremony include appearances by Sony Japan’s Kawano, who reminded us that with FFIII’s PSP release this month, every single Final Fantasy game will be then available on PlayStation.

Microsoft’s Takashi Sensui also stepped up to the stage and remarked about how FFXI came to their platform because Sensui asked why Wada wouldn’t put Final Fantasy on Xbox.

Nintendo’s Iwata was last but not least, delivering a video message in which he shared his thoughts on the series’ success.

Outside of that, Tetsuya Nomura did a sketch of Noctis for the event. “Congratulations on the 25th anniversary. Please wait for his turn to appear.”

That Noctis sketch is freeking awesome. That ultimate box collection is freeking awesome too.
I really want to buy it and never open the cases when I do get it. Depends on the price though and when or at all its going to be released in the West.
Cool shit.

Nice sketch...not that It really says much on the progress of Versus XIII....

I really like the boxset! also the big Chocobo statue!

Fantastic coverage Uncle Ulty! I am extremely looking forward to finding out more on the Lightning Saga tonight!

I would kill for that boxset, KILL! so any of you old fanboys whine too much I might arrange a hit contract with S-E. :gasp:In anycase, I love the look of this, what excites me most is this:View attachment 2190This shows S-E have a lot to deliver we know of Final Fantasy XIII-3, Final Fantasy Versus XIII & Final Fantasy: Type-0 (PSP or Vita release), but could they be cooking up something else for us, only time will tell. Also that model of Sin looks immense!

The comments marked with blue says Xboxlive a lot though :ness:

@ Ohri-Jin - Those just show the content that was available for download for FFXIII-2 and few other releases, notice the word Next... highlight in magical gold pixie dust? That's probably what their going to reveal to us later on!

Aah I see it now lol. Its just DLC of FFXIII-2, didnt actually zoomed in the first time.
Then that pic shows nothing interesting lmao.

Well we will hear more soon right? Today and tomorrow. They need to hurry up!!!

The sketch is nice, I guess. It and the comment don't make up for the lack of physical evidence, though. Sad day.

I'll reserve any other comments until the event is over. Don't wanna rush to any conclusions. Haha.

Only with Square-Enix would the revelation that a (not-even-that-great) sketch of an unreleased game's character was done be news.

As typical as it is when it comes to aggravating SE PR crap with the usual "ohh, please look forward to..." statements, I guess this one's being truthfully honest about it. Of course it isn't Versus's turn. It can stay in the stable because FFXIV and the next FFXIII game need their turn on the catwalk first. The poor bastard will never get his turn.

And Hashimoto's comment about how amazing Versus ostensibly is from the other day? Well, where have we heard that before? Oh yeah, because everyone in Square is saying that. They cannot seem to show us anything that would tell us the game is amazing, but hype it up with usual PR stuff about how OMG, IT'S AMAZING!!! It's also a bit depressing how it's reached the point where we have to even consider such vacuous and typical comments as being newsworthy.

Love the Noctis pic, but who drew the anime looking pictures? D;

I like the sketch, but I absolutely LOVE and want that 25th Anniversary Box Set!!!! :gasp:

And the chocobo statue..... :3 It's adorable.

Boy that 25th box set looks pretty, but is not nearly enough, considering the money to buy it. They didn't even put all the games on the same system? What? None of the "extra" games, FFX-2, XIII-2 or Tactics? Considering it would be worth it if it was half the price maybe, $450+ is certainly out of the question.

Nice idea, terrible execution. I'll wait for the 30th anniversary.

Really nice sketch of Noctis. It only reminds me we have to at least wait 2+ years for the game. I like the Final Fantasy art done by various mangaka (whatever they are called); it is a really nice thing to see, especially for the older games! :)

Too bad I can't get anything listed here or else where. As a fan it disappoints and saddens me. :'(

Why couldn't they just put all the Final Fantasy's onto a few Blu-Ray disks? My PS2 is hooked up to a different TV than my PS3. I guess I shouldn't complain, they probably won't release it in the West anyways. I really like the idea of ALL Final Fantasy games centrally located on ONE system, instead of sprawled across 4. Egh.

Versus still seems to be the little carrot they just keep out front.

When all else fails, if you can't give them any news about the game, lets just make a sketch and everyone will slobber all over it and we can pass it off as some sort of news :britt:

Ohhh SE :damon:

However, it is a very nice sketch. :inlove: I will always have a soft spot for Noctis :(

...and the best looking thing out of all of those pics BESIDES the sketch itself is the red drink with ice in it...and what looks to be a cookie with it :mokken:

I like Noctis sketches too. However, i would like a sketch of another character. Such as Stella or his friends. For now it feels a little off. at least reveal a new character through sketches maybe.

I agree with you, but I think the presentation of the sketch was more strategic than commercial or anything else. It was merely a symbol to say the same as what they said on stage: "please wait for Noctis's turn."

"Please wait".

Something I've been hearing about Versus for nearly 7 years now.. I've waited and waited SE. I even waited to accommodate XIII-2 when XIII in general does absolutely nothing for me. I bought both and consider them mistakes. Heck, this has been the only FF since X where I can say I truthfully feel excited about it. And now, at TGS 2012 when we finally thought something substantial would occur regarding Versus, we were instead greeted by yet another XIII sequel... :gasp2:

Words honestly fail me. I'm seriously beginning to question the company I've loved for over a decade. It's bad enough seeing these newer FF's, which to be blatantly honest aren't on the same level let alone ignoring the decent ones for years and years. How long exactly do they intend to keep this up?

FF XIII-4, XIII-5, XIII-6?

For those of us who've loved FF since the 90's but could care less about the ever linear XIII who's characters and plot is about as exciting as watching paint dry, when exactly will we get versus? 2014? 2015? 2016? 2017?

If they honestly think by continuously delaying it will in turn gather hype and momentum they are seriously mistaken.

But who cares right, we got a hand drawing! :'(
