If you were a fan of Final Fantasy V or Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light for the Nintendo DS, then you'll love this upcoming JRPG for the 3DS!

The game will feature four main characters with tons of voiced dialogue and an awesomely extensive job class system that changes depending on each character's clothes and equipment. Interestingly enough, this game is not exactly a Final Fantasy title, but it has many similar elements that FF fans will be sure to enjoy!

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy - New Trailer!

This isn't directly related to any updated news on the game, but I thought this was pretty interesting/funny! I wish I could get a street pass with someone awesome like that! xD How lucky~

Tomoya Asano, the producer of Bravely Default, was hanging around Tsutaya and Shinjuku checking out the DS station, the area where you can StreetPass with the store. One player who was just starting out with the game ran into Asano.

Asano confirmed that StreetPass was indeed him on Twitter. That player can now summon one of Asano’s characters in battle using Bravely Default’s unique StreetPass summon system.

after this game finally getting a EU/US release, I picked it up yesterday, and ohhhhh man is it good

It the best RPG i played in years, it really has that classic 'i'm going on a adventure' feel to it like the RPG's of ages had

Feb. 7 for us. I really wanna pick up this game when it comes out. I don't know much about the game, but from what I read, this is the type of game I dig for.

I played the demo and wasn't overly fussed. The thing is that it wasn't a part of the main game so it's hard to tell if the story will be a million times better in the main game or not. My main problem though is that the battle system seems a little complicated for my pea-sized brain. Again though, this may be because the demo throws you in the deep end?

Not entirely sure, but there's no doubt I'll grab it at some point regardless.

jealous we were supposed to get it yesterday, but they haven't be bothered to buy copies to ship it out yet because they didn't even know about till I mentioned it to them when asking.

so upset.

I've got this for Christmas...which is still over a month before the US gets it, which pleases me. It's nice for us to get something months ahead for a change. Although I wasn't overly impressed with the demo...looks like another overhyped case to me. I'll give the full thing a chance before I condemn to mediocrity, though. But this IS Square Enix, after all, and mediocrity seems to be the destiny of all their games at the moment.

I just played the demo and I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way, lol. It really did seem overly complicated. It looks like Street Pass may play a somewhat important function in this game, which I'm not too fond of since I don't like having to rely on others to progress in games. Find Mii 2 is taking me forever and I hate having to hire old comrades all the time. xD

I'm also not very fond of the font. Kinda bothers my eyes. It's so tiny and kinda cursive. =___= Mehh. Maybe I'd get used to it though. The battle is vaguely similar to 4 Heroes of Light, so I think that's neat. ^^

I guess I'll have to wait for the U.S. release. :chantuar:

I never played FFV, though the job system intrigued me for as long as I knew about it. So whenever I heard about Bravely Default, I was intrigued enough to play the demo.

I hadn't planned on picking up the full game so soon, but I enjoyed the demo so much- in between the music, the strategy that the Brave and Default commands add, and the mixing/matching of job abilities- I knew I was going to LOVE the full game. And as I've recently reached Chapter 2, I can easily say that I'm enjoying the full game for the same reasons and more.

It's still early for me to make many big statements about the plot or endgame, but I can definitely say the game overall is great. Even battles against generic enemies can be devastating if you are unprepared and careless, but are satisfying to mow down with simple strategies. The job system- letting you mix one main job's stats and active abilities with another job's actives, as well as a set number of passives across ALL of your jobs- is incredibly deep, but not too complex to learn. The concept of saving turns for later via defending and burning out several actions immediately at the cost of future turns makes bosses and even standard fights much more strategic, especially since any enemy can do the same. The game has several quirky, almost social-game-esque features like unlocking shops via streetpass tags and real time waiting, but they are handled in a way that feels more like alternative options instead of intrusive to your progression (Except SP drink microtransactions... thankfully, you NEVER have to buy them, and you never should). As for the narrative (up to chapter 2) and its presentation? It's pretty simple, I wouldn't say it's a strong point of the game, but I enjoy listening to most cutscenes and their voice acting.

Essentially, it's one of the most fun RPGs I've been playing to date. It's strongest points are its battles and how the job system adds to character advancement/customization (also the music but I'm a HUGE sucker for good music in video games I mean http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1ClcFbMk0o ), so if that's something you've been looking for, I'd HIGHLY recommend it.

This game is worth buying if you're really into the older types of Final Fantasy games, honestly the story is just enough ground to stand, but no more, to be honest it's more fun to level up with your classes and gain new limit breaks with that class, than wonder about than say -Tiz's backstory.

I've almost completed it, just got to do the last chapter.
