A Problem.

Well, maybe you staffers should set a good example and abide by the sixty day rule, also. The problem would be solved immediately. ;D

I agree completely-as usual. Why can't we all just abide by the rule? ;) It only makes sense. Plus, our memories wouldn't have to be tested so ridiculously much.

I'm nothing if not vigilant. ;D

A tad annoying, but it's all in good health. :)

And I must once again back you up. I'm absolutely stunned how quickly things are being fixed. Golbez, I applaud your work.

...We go through Staff Themes where we change our names for a short period of time...if you guys have such a problem with it, I suggest you deal with it. We're not going to give up the fun things we do together just because you guys don't like it. The profile option to see who we are is back now. Read that if you're so bloody confused.

It just seems a bit unfair that other people have to wait and abide by this name change rule, while the staff can have themed events. I'm not particularly bothered by what you guys do, so don't lay the smackdown on me because I'm simply just saying what I think without, well complaining, but you know, having to wait 60 days to change while you guys get to not follow that rule..I can see why it appears to upset/annoy/disappoint some people.

Hmm, I don't have this problem. In either Firefox or IE. What browser do you use?
Firefox, also.

Maybe a screenshot will make it more obvious as to what I meant. :wacky:

Acht, I suppose I'm just voicing what other people have said, in regards to how silly it looks when a staffers name appears twice.

I almost feel reluctant to post another problem. :wacky:

As you can see, Sub-Forums is displayed a wee bit lower than it should be. :wacky:

Have you got OCD or something?

Does it really matter?

Ah, I see. You know you could have just said that the Sub-Forums text is below instead of above :) I thought you were talking about the spacing.

It's been fixed. It was due to some missing <td> tags in the forumhome_forumbit_level2_post (and similar) templates.

Yeah? And members who want their names changed to join in on the theme always get their wishes abided to. You know, I'm sorry you guys feel that way, but this is something we enjoy and we like. If you don't like, I'm sorry, tough luck. Look in our profiles for our old usernames, just like I said above.

Aerith, you know that out of most the staff on this site currently, I feel probably most comfortable with you. That is why I respect your opinion and feeling on this, as much as I'm sure you do mine, but I just can't say I totally agree.

I know it is fun for different themes to go around the board, and for staff to have fun together. I'm not trying to discourage that at all. I just wish there was a bit more structure to it. I swear, I've seen more names change on the past two weeks from one thing to another so much, I honestly gave up keeping anyone in line besides Bei Bei, Mitsuki, and yourself.

Perhaps the themes should just last longer or something. Even though the profile name plugin is back, I'd personally like to not have to look at it everying *single* time I log on.

That is all I'm saying, and I think maybe a few people agree with me. I'm not trying to anger you or anything of the sort, I just hope to be clear in my stance on this.

Good grief, I really don't see the anger for the name changes. It's not exactly difficult to figure out who's who, and it is structured, thank you very much. We pick a theme, we decide which username we want, we keep it for awhile, we switch back.

Members can join in with the theme if they want to, and everyone has fun, it's just a username. Good grief.

It's what people learn to identify you by. It's like walking out of your house everyday with your face covered. I mean, sure, I can figure out it's Micheal Jackson pretty quickly, but I'd rather not have to snoop around for it.

And for awhile? Does two days constitute as awhile? *Rhetorical*

If you can't figure out who's who by the username, use their user ID, or their post count. Like I said, it's not difficult to figure out who's who.

And if you needed to figure out who's who for a particular section, then you just view the staff list. Not difficult. And as I think it's already been stated, we're not going to stop having themed usernames because a small amount of people find it objectionable, it's just a bit of fun, and to see it being taken so seriously is just...sad =/

I'm sorry, but are you reading my posts?

I'm not voting to abolish the themes at all. I simply said that perhaps they could be stuck with longer or not be done so often. I mean, using them as an excuse to have a new name every week is kind of lame and totally ruins the point of the 60 day rule. Additionally, many (And yes, many on staff) change their names without any theme even currently going on, quite progressively.

It's a small problem, but one that is confusing and somewhat annoying. I just think it could be drug in a little bit.

I'm not going to go to war over it or anything, I just saw someone else mention it, and wonder how many it takes to say something before we can decide it's worth maybe given a tad bit of attention to.

Clearly I am otherwise, gee, I wouldn't be replying to them, would I?

We've had two themes so far, since like February. DBZ and FFIX, and a few of us had Spice Girl names for a week. 3 themes in like 3 months isn't that often tbqh.

I mean, using them as an excuse to have a new name every week is kind of lame and totally ruins the point of the 60 day rule.

Yet, we haven't had new names every week. I've been General Beatrix for awhile now, and everyone else has picked a username and stuck with it.

Not true. Mitsuki hasn't changed her name at all, ditto Bei Bei, Cerridwen, and SS, Zack, Rydia, Warbourne, the RPG directors and Saix and LA have all chose their usernames and stuck with them for a long time. Cerridwen and Rydia and Warbourne only just changed their usernames recently, following the 60 day rule.

It's a small problem, but one that is confusing and somewhat annoying.

You call it a small problem and annoying, while others call it "fun" and "exciting" everyone has their own point of view.

I'm sorry, who is Saix and LA? I don't see them on the staff list. And I know for a fact that at least one of the RPG directors has changed his name quite recently-although his 60 days was no doubt up. I mean, both of them have changed their names twice in the past two weeks. Once from a theme, and then again to something else and new.

I'm not going to respond anymore, at least not now. I can see that you will not be changing your mind. :)

It's not that hard to distinguish everyone from each other unless we suddenly decide to do a theme where we pretend to be each other.

If it becomes a large problem, we will take care of it.

I'm almost positive that Saix's infamous smartarse attitude is of no help to distinguish one from the other.:neomon:

Good grief, I really don't see the anger for the name changes.
I feel somewhat guilty for setting that in motion.

Can I just make it perfectly clear that my comment was nothing more than harmless banter? It doesn't bother me in the slightest, I just felt like adding in a wee jab. Evidently, it stung. :wacky:

And aye, maybe I did phrase that problem with the sub-forums a bit waffly but thanks for being able to fix it.

Finn, if we've been asked to report problems, I'm doing a favour by bringing them to attention. I don't know who you're trying to score points with by getting at me but it's really not needed. Cheeeeeeeeeeers.

And I'm sorry, but there was absolutely no excuse for that. People aren't idiots Scrib, I'm pretty sure they're well aware that Dr. Cid is Saix and Tifa is LA (myself). That was uncalled for and sarcasm doesn't fly well with me, you should definitely know that. We're currently discussing on how long we should allow this rule. It was Darkblade's rule when it came to the 60 days and guess what! Look around! Do you see a Darkblade anywhere? Do you see a blue name that would suggest he's still here! Nope! So seriously, get over it. It's not that bloody difficult to distinguish who is who on staff. Deal with it.

I mean, both of them have changed their names twice in the past two weeks. Once from a theme, and then again to something else and new.

Bitch, moan, whine, complain. That's all I've seen from you in this thread and quite frankly, I'm getting really good and sick of it. If you don't like the themes, well that's your problem now isn't it. If we feel things are getting too out-of-hand, they will be taken care of. We don't you need you shoving it down our bloody throats. We're not going to bend to your or a few other people's every whims when it come to our themes just because you don't like them.

Very well then. It is well within your power to do whatever you want, as you are proving. ;) If what you want always comes above what the members would like, then I look forward to seeing how the future goes.

And you're correct. Darkblade isn't around. That's plainly obvious from this thread alone. :) At least then rules were in forced.

Lord Golbez is doing an amazing job technically, and I can't wait to see what other amazing things he can do when Decado takes that aspect off his hands and allows him to focus elsewhere.

Thank you for listening, anyways. It is a comfort to know we are heard.

For not being a fan of sarcasm though, I can't help but notice how full of it your own post was... but then, you can do that without consequences.
