If your starting a new game on FFIX and sme bosses your trying to get past quickly. Make sure you bring a tent with you, this item is really handy against the beginning bosses of the game and on some others later on, but it is not always effective.

A tent should be used at the beginning of the boss fight as it will heal him for 9,999. But it will also inflict silence, poison and blind. So as I said this is effective for tough bosses but obviously some are or will later on be immune to some or if not all of them stats.

I hope this helps :)

i told my bro this and he was like what.... but it works, I did this on pretty much all the early bosses through disc 1 :P

If your a low level on disc 1 a tent is most handy against Gizmaluke.....that boss was annoying if your trying to complete the ame as quickly as possible.

It didnt worked for me for some reason, i best went and grind like crazy with grand Dragons, that was effective.
As I had said...this method only works on disc 1 and some disc 2 bosses....because the later on bosses tend to have immunity to some of the status inflictions a tent can do :)

great tactic indeed, Tents were awesome in the lower level bosses, i used this tactic against gizimaluke and hammered him into the ground without really breaking a sweat, and after it i realised i was levelled enough to have taken down this rather pesky boss without the useage of a tent, and at the end of this battle i just kinda stood up and thought to myself WTF, last time i fought this guy he actually put up a fight, now he just kinda lies down and accepts death. . . that makes my life MUUUUUCCCCCCHHHHHHHH easier.

I never knew about that tent trick....... wow who knew. It wasn't even on those game help sites :sup: useful but I usually just power level myself at disc 1 by trying to beat up a single garuda in the forest near the grand dragons until I could beat the dragons, it was tough.

I've never used the tent in that way.Perhaps in my next playthrough out of curiosity.
I've always took my time leveling up and beating bosses.

I used to use this method often but it made bosses too easy so i stopped doing it, it's helpful though when you are having difficulty with bosses like gizamaluke and the bosses in the ice cave.

I never knew this! Argh! All these years! I spent HOURS level grinding. I spent half the game level grinding actually. Just as much grinding as story time! Ah well, I will know for a new playthrough at least.

I never found this game very hard in the first place, using this trick is like using yojimbo to beat dark aeons on ffx ! Me no like super easy things now that I started playing final fantasy 5 and IM LOVING IT TO DEATH!(im in world 2 out of curiosity). Well I guess it takes a bit the fun out of the game. Beating the bosses in a legitimate way will always make you have that feeling of skill and awsomeness after beating a hard boss by your own tactics and strategy

1. Defeating a Grand Dragon on Disc 1 (damn near impossible) will level you up something fierce.
2. Stock on Ethers and Tents before the final dungeon or you will not finish the game. I recently learned this lesson and pretty much wasted 55 hours of gameplay.
3. You can get the Mighty Guard skill for Quina by eating a Serpion in disc one. Unfortunately you have to spend an hour purely leveling up to gain ample MP to use it, but it will get you by alot of bosses.

Also, Grand Dragons are weak towards Ice so have a party of Zidane, Vivi, Freya, and Quina present for the battle, focus on keeping vivi alive, and 13 blizzaras should do it. 26 blizzards, but that's a stretch. I never knew of the tent tactic, I wish I did for Gizmaluke cause he kicked my ass 9 ways to sunday for 4 days straight.

I. DID NOT. KNOW THIS. :rage:

I hate grinding for levels. And I do remember that nasty boss in Gizamaluke. How many times did I die -- why did I only find out about this now, WHY :rage: Thank you though, I will surely do this during my next playthrough.

Lucky I saw this thread. I'm in Gizmalkes Grotto right now. I don't think I'd have a prayer of beating him/her without this. I have enough trouble killing the pink worm things in there :shame:

I never had a hard time with boos fights on the 1st disc, EXCEPT for that infamous difficulty spike when you get to Gizmaluke's Grotto. Fighting Gizmaluke was a major pain in the mcass.

Well I did this against Gizamaluke last night and hammered him. He's still got an attack that hits for about 180 but it misses half the time because of the darkness.

It's absolutely no use against the Worm thing you fight in Treno, though :D

I am still surprised people have still found this and use it, it means a lot to me. And sadly it only really works on the odd boss because eventually they will become immune to the effects a tent offers. It is more for people new to the game or if you want to rush disc 1 at a low level do this sort of concept.

The sad thing is that I still ran around grinding until everyone in my party was lvl 15 anyway :D
