Agree Barrett is awesome. He looks so tough, but he's rather soft and caring and pretty cute because of that. I think it's because he's not a pretty Bishie boy. Cloud, Vincent, Zack and Sephiroth are the most popular FF VII boys and they're all pretty Bishie boys.

I absolutely adore Barrifa. My first play through I thought they were together because of Marlene. So I thought Tifa was her mom. But I think they are just adorable together. It's a shame though; that pairing doesn't get much recognition Like remember in Dirge of Cerberus when Vincent gets a call from them, and Tifa and Barret are in the car together? They're always together. They belong together And like how Cali said Barret is just so comfortable around her.

I think both Tifa X Johnny and Tifa X Barret are better than Cloud X Tifa.

I love your Christmas presents guys A motorbike would be very fitting. But the first thing I thought of would be Cloud buying Aerith flowers, like Strifebaby said. I think Aerith would make Cloud something, something cute that would touch on Cloud's soft side. Maybe knit him a Christmas sweater or something. wacky

Here you see two deserts at the Artnia cafe in Japan. To the right, you’ll see Cloud’s Chocolate & Banana Buster Sword Parfait and to the left, you’ll see Aerith’s Dainty Ribbon Strawberry Parfait.

Guys! There was this new ultimania released in december and it practically nukes cloti It says that Cloud's crush on Tifa is fleeting and also "immature"--basically the exact wording that Square used to described Zerith right before they sunk that ship.

Here's the quote:

明かされた本当の願い幼いころのクラウドは、同年代の者たちから孤立し、自分は特別だと思いこもうとする、ひねくれた子どもだった。そんな彼にとって大切 だったのがティファ——淡く幼い恋心が、 精神世界にて明かされる。

My sister translated it herself so kudos to her for doing this for us!! And it's a quote about the Lifestream scene, btw!

I LOVE this quote because it says in current time (FFVII) that Cloud's "love" for Tifa is "fleeting" (meaning "vanishing/dissappearing" ) and "immature" (not true love)... If by the time the lifestream scene takes place Cloud's "feelings" for Tifa were described as "fleeting & immature" that practically means Cloud doesn't have current feelings for her in present time during VII.

See this part here: 淡く幼い恋心が (Awaku osanai koigokoro ga)? well that literally translates as "fleeting and also (淡く) immature (幼い) love (恋心)"


When I read this I flipped! it means that Cloud's feelings for Tifa have officially been described as fleeting and immature, which means he can't have continued to love her by the time VII starts. if he still loved Tifa in VII then his love wouldn't be described with the adjective "fleeting"--

Think of it like this; how can Cloud love her if his crush (the very foundation of his supposed love) is said to be fleeting? for his love to be described as fleeting that means it's dimming/dying out, which means Cloud has no romantic feelings for her.

However, there is an alternate translation going around and they took out "fleeting(淡く) & immature (幼い)" to try and make it say just "love"... down right dirty if you ask me. <_< They take out "fleeting/dim and immature" to try and make the quote just say that Cloud's "love" is revealed in the lifestream. But really the Japanese text says Tifa finds out about Cloud's fleeting and immature love.

Yes! The clerith date, Aerith's date, and the hand reach scene are all on the FFVII memorial page; the page that has memorable scenes. It also has a quote of Aerith saying she saw the real Cloud during the date.

Also, there's this quote:

"My fingers are tingling.

Forgotten Capital: When he holds Aerith's body

The words that come rushing out when he is confronted with Aerith's sudden death. A "sad" expression is not used; with only words used to show his condition, the depth of his grief is expressed all the more.

See how it confirmed that Cloud's words were added to the scene so they could portray just how sad/hurt he was. They made Cloud verbalize his pain because the graphics wouldn't show emotion. They basically wanted to make sure that everyone knew that Cloud was in pain!

She meets Cloud again when he falls from the Sector 5 plate into her favorite place, the church in Sector 5's slums. They talk together peacefully, but Shin-Ra's malevolent reach targets the Ancient in this place ...

Oh, sug. Those are translations from TLS by people named "tres" "quex" and "ryu". Their translations have A LOT of mistakes in them...

For example; in their poor version of THIS quote:

THE TRUE & ACCURATE TRANSLATION: The True Wish Revealed: When Cloud was very young, he had no friends from others around his age, so he tried to believe himself special, he was an alienated child. Such as, when regarding him Tifa was important---fleeting and also immature love was divulged in the spirit world."


TLS' WRONG TRANSLATION: The True Wish Revealed
When Cloud was a young child, he was isolated from those around his age, and so he tries convincing himself that he must be special. However, Tifa was still important to him ¡ª¡ª this childhood awakening of love is revealed in the spirit world.

Japanese version: 明かされた本当の願い
幼いころのクラウドは、同年代の者たちから孤立し、自分は特別だと思いこもうとする、ねくれた子どもだった。そんな彼にとって大切だったのがティファ——淡く幼い恋心が、 精神世界にて明かされる。

See the part of the quotes that I highlighted in pink? TLS translated it as "this childhood awakening of love"... but in the original Japanese text there is no "childhood" so they added that word themselves just because they wanted to better the cloti case. On top of that they removed two VERY important words... they removed "awaku" which means "fleeting" and "osanai" which means immature, and they also took it upon themselves to add "childhood".

However, using the true Japanese text the sentence should literally be translated as;
awaku(fleeting and also) Osanai(immature) koigokoro(love).

You'd have to omit "awaku(淡く)" and "Osanai(幼い)" for it to be translated as just "awakening love". Without those two words (I'm talking about awaku & osanai) it COULD be translated as "awakening love"--but because awaku and osanai are present in the sentence that means it's saying;

"awaku(fleeting and also) Osanai(immature) koigokoro(love)."

So that's just one example of TLS translating Japanese wrong on accident.

As for the "favor" quote...

TLS' WRONG TRANSLATION[/B]:] "For many years, Cloud and Tifa have been holding favor for one another. At last facing the impending final battle with Sephiroth, they confirm together their feelings of desire towards one another"

Romaji version: 長年、互いに好意を抱いていたティファとクラウド。セフィロスとの最終決戦を目前にようやく、相手を求める気持ちを確かめ合えた。

This quote is talking about the fleeting & immature crush that Cloud USED to have on her. The word "ita" is used in that sentence and that's the Japanese word that indicates past tense.

The "have been" that Tres put in there to make it seem like it's PRESENT TENSE should actually be past tense. Since the Japanese word used is "ITA", and Ita is just the informal version of "imashita" which is PAST TENSE only (see for yourself here), that means "ita" indicates that the "favor" thing is restricted to the past.

So right off the bat the sentence should be translated in a past tense tone. The "many years" part isn't meaning that it's about many years bleeding into the present. We all know that Cloud held a DIM love for Tifa for "many years" as a child, but "ita" being present automatically proves that it's talking about PAST TENSE. Which means that the "many years" is talking about Cloud's PAST crush, not present feelings.

WHICH MEANS; Cloud and Tifa aren't holding "favor" for one another in the present time, but that they had it for each other in the past--which we all already knew.

Another thing here, you see that part up there that says "towards one another" Well, the Japanese word he exchanged to get that is "aite". Tres said the word should be translated as "together" but he's mistaken. Aite does not mean "together". You can look aite up yourself, it ALWAYS means "partner" or "associate"--definitions for that of work buddies or friends. It does not mean "together", let alone in the "romantic" sense. They changed it to "together" because it makes it sound more "romantic" for it to be "feelings of desire towards one another" than "feelings of desire towards partnership".

However! there's also no "feelings of desire" in this quote either. So they, again, added words to fit their liking.

Hmm, I'll ask my sister to translate it immediately! Not to worry though, pal. TLS has been wrong with their translations so far, so I bet this is wrong too.


Even if it is what it says, remember that it's about the HAHW scene only, and there's no canon version of the HW scene, which means even IF the HAHW scene shows romance, it doesn't matter because it's not canon.

Just remember that Cloud's "feelings" for Tifa were said to be "fleeting and immature" and this was said for a NON-OPTIONAL scene (meaning it's canon). If Cloud's crush is fleeting (meaning to die out) and immature (meaning "not true", "lasting", or substantial ) that means no love continued into the future. That basically declares Cloti not canon. After all, how can Cloud "love" Tifa in the present time if his "crush" (which would be the foundation of his supposed "love" in the future) is said to be fleeting and immature? If his love continued on from the crush, that would mean the crush couldn't be fleeting, but rather, it's should be growing. But SINCE SE said Cloud's crush was "fleeting" that implies that any romantic feelings he once had for her is now gone. Meaning! By the time the lifestream scene takes place, Cloud has no romantic feelings for her.

But I'll get my sister on it now. Reznov, get your butt in here!

No problem, I can explain; and don't worry me and Cali love explaining this stuff, the favour quote you may be seeing thrown around as if it were life-support is actually PAST-TENSE, there is a plain past tense added onto the word "Daite" which means it/the favour isn't any longer around.

Here's how I would translate the quote that people insist is present tense, even though its not. And as for the "For many years"/"Naganen" doesn't mean perpetual or on going either, just in case you may wonder. I will fully explain everything later when I get the time, but I wanna be 100% sure before I say anything, but I did translate the first quote earlier and more accurately than others did So here goes;


"For many years, Cloud and Tifa used to hold favor with each other.
Finally facing the approaching last battle with Sephiroth,
they were able to confirm established feelings
for requested company/partnership."
