But yes it uses a particle that indicates past-tense (ita) right after the word "Daite" meaning "to bear/to hold", so yes its past tense that they used to hold favor for one another, the only thing I am not sure on is if its meant to say "Kuraudo to Tifa" as in "Cloud and Tifa" or "Cloud or Tifa", sometimes the 'to' can be used to contrast two nouns...but that's just my thoughts, anyway.
