But yes it uses a particle that indicates past-tense (ita) right after the word "Daite" meaning "to bear/to hold", so yes its past tense that they used to hold favor for one another, the only thing I am not sure on is if its meant to say "Kuraudo to Tifa" as in "Cloud and Tifa" or "Cloud or Tifa", sometimes the 'to' can be used to contrast two nouns...but that's just my thoughts, anyway.

Guys!! you know when Marlene tells Cloud that she thinks Aerith "likes him"? Well, it's canonized that Cloud's reply to that is "Let's hope so!"

In the newest Ultimania it says that scene MUST happen so Marlene can "mature". Isn't that awesome?

It's canon that Cloud tells Marlene that he hopes Aerith likes him!

So Cloud "wants" Aerith to "want" him.

I got some wonderful news!! Square released DLC for Brigade and they made Cloud and Aerith matching emperor and empress.... which is marriage clothes practically!!

For Aerith to be empress that means she's MARRIED to Cloud, who is the Emperor! isn't this freaking greattttttttttt

The above shows Aerith blushing and stuttering as she says “th-thank you” to Cloud for saving her, we then see Cloud look back at her and say “Aerith….”—just in case you’re wondering! The cutest thing though is that Cloud is FOLLOWING her, and since Aerith seems to be surprised by his arrival, I’d say that she didn’t know that Cloud was watching over her to make sure she stays safe.

Why didn't they add that Cloud saving Aerith scene in the original game ? It's so cute. It would've been nice in PS2 graphics as well and being able to use it for AMV's would've been so neat.

Ya'll need to start posting here again (myself included ) because I am feeling very FF7y lately mainly because I started playing again a few weeks ago.

Seriously half the reason I started playing again was to see them together. Like when Cloud is running from the building and he just bumps into the pretty flower girl It's just so dang adorable.

And when Cloud has to protect Aerith from the Turk dudes and she's running and is like "Cloud help!" And he instructs her and tells her what to do and tries to save her after only just meeting her. I mean that is just precious

UGHHHHHH Their first meet-cute! Omg That is one of my favorite otp moments...EVER! I know I say it a lot but I love how Cloud is thinking to himself (as shown in Dismantled) that Aerith has impressive eyes and a smile worth buying, and I absolutely ADORE that Cloud leaves reflecting on the "mysterious" feeling that he was feeling for Aerith. I mean... C'MON! That is so clearly talking about love, man! I mean, what other "mysterious" feeling could he be talking about? Obviously the "love" feeling is mysterious to Cloud, he's a cold and distant man that only cares for himself at this point--if he suddenly started to fall in love it's no wonder he would think they were mysterious feelings... he was never in love before!

basically yeah, it's adorable.

I knoww I love how Cloud takes charge and immediately protects her. it's adorable Cloud goes from not caring about anyone at all to suddenly caring for her.

In the midst of my LTD rebuttals I thought of something....

QUOTE 3 - What is revealed from Cait Sith’s fortune-telling:
Cait Sith’s prediction about Sephiroth’s whereabouts is, “What you pursue will be yours, but you will lose something very dear.”Can the “something very dear” possibly indicate that Cloud will lose Aerith in the Forgotten City afterwards? Or maybe that Cloud will lose his self in a maze of confusion.

Both of these paragraphs make it clear that Cait Sith's prophecy is actually true, and that it can actually be interpreted to mean either the loss of Aerith or the loss of Cloud's mental stability. Therefore, the idea that losing "something dear" refers to the death of Aerith is verified as one possible interpretation of Cait Sith's words. Cloud succeeded in tracking down Sephiroth, but in the process he lost something dear to him - Aerith as well as his own mental stability. (Aly's essay)

Now, this is where I have a different opinion than Aly. The 20thAU says maybe it could indicate Cloud will lose himself in a maze of confusion. However, Cloud was already lost in confusion about himself prior to Aerith's death. He was having mental breakdowns, moments of insanity, physical breakdowns--and he was already confused about his past... So, he was already "lost" before Cait even gave that prediction.

How could the "something dear" quote really be about Cloud's insanity when Cloud already lost it prior to meeting Cait and Aerith's death scene? Yes, things get worse, but his sanity was already on the verge of shattering and it was already lost to him (for the most part).

Another thing about this quote; it says "what you will pursue will be yours, but you will lose something dear".

The "thing" that Cloud's pursuing is his sanity and Sephiroth, both represent each other. By pursuing Sephiroth Cloud finds the truth, by pursuing the journey to find himself he finds Sephiroth--both correlate to each other.

So the "thing" Cloud is pursuing is TRUTH about his past--so IF the "something dear" is his sanity the entire sentence becomes redundant.

The sentence starts by saying Cloud will find what he pursues (which is the truth about himself) and then it says he will "lose something dear" which Clotis claim is talking about his sanity, too... But, how can he "lose" his sanity if the quote starts by saying he'll find it?

What Clotis are essentially saying this quote means is this;
What Cloud pursues = sanity about his past.
What Cloud will "lose" = sanity about his past.


So, going by THEIR logic, the sentence is saying; "Cloud will find his sanity, but he will lose his sanity"... how... does that make sense to anyone?

But once more, that doesn't make sense. Nomura specifically says that what Cloud pursues will be his but he will lose something dear.

Clerith interpretation of the quote;
What Cloud pursues = sanity about his past.
What Cloud will "lose" = Aerith


Again, how can Cloud ultimately "lose" something in which he already gained? The fact that Cloud was confirmed to have found his sanity automatically proves that the "something dear" is not his sanity. My argument is further verified by the following quote;

The fortune telling with deep meaning.
Cait Sith’s prediction about where to find Sephiroth gives three answers. Disregarding the first two, the noticeable one is the third which becomes the chance for him to join the party - “What you’re looking for will be yours, but you’ll lose something very dear.”

As the storyline moves to the event in the Forgotten City, the “something very dear” can be read as losing Aerith, and is also a hint about the event where Cloud’s searching for his self breaks when they reach the Northern Crater.

That last sentence says the "something very dear" can be read as losing Aerith, and then it says that same quote also hints at the event where Cloud's journey to "search for himself" BREAKS, as in ends.

Just to make sure we're clear here; the sentence is saying that THIS sentence; "what you will pursue will be yours, but you will lose something dear" hints at TWO things;

1) Aerith's DEATH
2) Cloud's journey to find himself ENDS

The Omega says that this quote hints at those specific things. End of story. Now, what part of the sentence represents which? Well, since it says the quote hints at Cloud finding himself that can only match the "what you will pursue will be yours" part of the sentence. And since the quote says it also hints at Aerith's death, the only part of the sentence that matches that is the "but you will lose something dear" part.

This final sentence in this last quote proves that it is as follows;

What Cloud pursues = sanity about his past.
What Cloud will "lose" = Aerith


"the “something very dear” can be read as losing Aerith,and is also a hint about the event where Cloud’s searching for his self breaks when they reach the Northern Crater.

Yes, the first quote says it could be talking about his insanity, but this quote proves that it was talking about Aerith being the "something very dear".

The fact that there is even a discussion about this anymore is ridiculous.

Guys, I'm trying to find all sorts of canon anime/manga couples that are portrayed as Emperor and Empress (like how Clerith is) do you guys know of any? I know usagi and mamoru (of Sailor moon) have official art of them as emperor and empress, same for Hello Kitty and other manga.

Do you guys know any?

I wanna use it as proof that this emperor and empress thing is really significant for Clerith.
