Shit new headcanon

Tidus is Cloud's Great Grandfather and Yuna's FF X dress is a Strife family antique ( Tidus's last name isn't Strife, The FFX universe doesn't have them, it becomes the nickname of Tidus and Yuna's son, and then he adopts it into the family surnames when they come about ) Cloud's Mum is given this antique at her wedding with Cloud's dad, and when Cloud, Tifa, Aerith etc re- vist Nibelhiem Cloud heads into his old Family house and finds and dusts off the old antique that's Yuna's Summoner dress, during the Gold Saucer date off-screen he gives it to Aerith as a gift telling Aerith that it was his Mother's wedding present, and Aerith in return gives him a soft kiss.

Cait Sith pictured Aerith getting married in the dress during his prediction at the Temple Of The Ancients.

When Aerith dies, it goes with her however, as Cloud feels that it would not considerate to re-take the gift from her.

Okay, SERIOUS Clerith fluff incoming!

All of this is from Brigade!

It's some kind of cutscene in the game. Speculation right now is that Brigade has FF7 chapters and this is what it's from. The Japanese Clerith fans are fangirling so much to it.

I'm sorry, but that quote is SO freaking amazingly cute. Like, for real ya'll I have ALWAYS wanted a quote where Cloud says something like this to Aerith... and I finally have it. No matter why he's saying he's smiled (wish I knew what made him smile) nothing changes the fact that he talks to Aerith like this. Like, he knows she cares if he smiles or not and he openly just talks to her about this sort of stuff. And the fact that it's in AERITH'S church gives me the impression that it's being close to Aerith that makes him smile.

Sooo,

Square translated "koibito" as 'amant' and 'geliebter' in French & German, and both of those words mean 'lover'. For more in depth details...

Cloud was recently said to be Aerith’s ‘koibito’ in the Japanese novella Case of Lifestream—we couldn’t clarify if that word meant ‘mutual lovers’ or ‘beloved’—Cleriths couldn’t say it explicitly meant ‘lovers’ and Clotis couldn’t say it didn’t mean ‘lovers’, making the sentence inconclusive.

Then the German version came out and said Cloud was Aerith’s “geliebter"—that word can be translated as "lover" "true love" or "beloved”, once more, this word explicitly means ‘lover’, making the sentence conclusive.

The French version came out and said Cloud was Aerith’s “amant"—that word irrefutably has one meaning, and its meaning is lover.

So for a recap;

Japanese “koibito”: inconclusive—can be mutual or one-sided.

German “geliebter”: conclusive—mutual relationship.

French “amant”: conclusive—mutual relationship.

No, it isn’t far-fetched or unrealistic of us to presume this canonizes Clerith—because when creators say your otp are lovers, they’re canonized.

Yay we have something re-iterated from 5+ years ago... .-. seriously I am happy but we already knew this...?

Sad that this book is going to have to be translated into every language and then some (idek...like enochian script maybe?) for the guys words to be taken as a fact, im hearing a lot of 'maybes' and 'we dont know if they'll contradict themselves' which is kind of stupid to say, since that's all speculation...

Yeah, a lot of people have been telling me that this doesn't matter because 'what if they contradict it' or 'what if cloud gets with tifa, too'... which is pointless, because Clerith still was canon during the game. For the original game, they were endgame. :ryan:

All I care for is that Cloud chose Aerith during VII. Whether or not Cloud 'gets with' someone else doesn't matter, they'll just be second best what with Cloud still praying/wanting to be with Aerith when he dies. and unless square changes that, then no matter if Cloud gets with someone else while he's alive, clerith will still be canon when Cloud dies.

I honestly have NO IDEA how anyone is arguing against Clerith being canon right now. People are seriously saying the novella isn't canon and that it's 'wrong'. um no, sorry, fuck you. it's canon, peaches. cloud is aerith's lover. in japanese, in german, and in french. i don't even care if square translates it as beloved or sweetheart in english, either. why? because the context to the sentence is still mutual romance. that is what is being intended in the original japanese sentence. so the context behind beloved would be mutual lover (once more, IF square chose beloved).

the original japanese quote canonized clerith back in 2009, end of story.

also:

Yuna: It’s funny… Ever since I was young, I never questioned it. But now that you ask me if it is that bad or not…I don’t know. There are so many things I don’t know.
Tidus: Well then, we’re the same! (decrepit voice) ’Such thinking is very unbecoming of a summoner!' (as himself) Sound like Mika?”

Tidus doesn’t tease Yuna like Cloud teases Aerith, but I think both scenes are pretty similar with each other. Both lovers laugh together, and both girls share the same kind of flirty reply back.

LMAOOO, some cloti that flames me on tumblr found out that naruhina from Naruto is another favorite ship of mine so they tried annoying me by posting in the tag and comparing it to cloti but the latest novel for naruto includes a clerith parallel;

Oh gosh I love so many things about Clerith I have no idea how to pick my favorite! I think it might be how much Cloud loves her, even after she dies and he still works to honor her memory and make sure she's remembered and he can't forgive himself and she tries to help him forgive himself through her visits to him throughout Advent Children and to remind him that just because she's gone doesn't mean that he can't live a full and happy life and she'll be waiting for him when he returns to the Lifestream. Okay that got longer than I planned for it to be, but at least I'm thorough

I was just thinking about it today and I wanted to discuss the implied phone message left on Cloud's phone during Advent Children.

I really wish that Aerith had gotten a chance to say this to Cloud's face because when this is said it's through Cloud's phone, which is sinking to the bottom of a lake and Cloud isn't able to hear it. I feel like, even though it is implied Cloud is healing from Aerith's death at the end of Advent Children, if he'd heard her say to him, "I never blame you...not once...you came for me...that's all that matters..." He'd have been able to move on more quickly and sooner and understand that Aerith was just grateful he was there when she died, so she didn't have to die alone rather than blaming him for not stopping her [inevitable] death.

Also, I wish we'd been able to see him turn around when he appeared in the World of Pure White/the Promised Land with Aerith. I think he probably would've cried. Cloud doesn't seem like the emotional type (in fact, the only time we really see him get emotional is when Zack dies in Crisis Core and when Aerith dies in VII), but I think if he'd seen her face right then after all that time and was still desperately trying to forgive himself, he would've probably cried. Or at least had a really pained look on his face (the former is actually more probable than the latter now that I think about it).

I decided to make this celebration a little different and make the event last all December long. I know this is a very busy month for people and I thought this would be more inclusive for everyone if they had a longer time to participate.

There will also be a Question of the week that people can answer if they’d like to. I also decided to make a giant Clerith Headcanon Questionnaire. There’s no rules to this one, just pick and choose what you want to answer and share it with the fandom, tag as #UltimateClerithHeadcanons please.

I was chatting with Velut Luna tonight and she brought up this video. She mentioned how Cait Sith's reaction made her think that he was referencing his wedding prediction... and after watching it after all of these years, I agree with her.

Do you see that little dance Cait Sith does before walking away with his head lowered? That's the dance Cait Sith does before he makes a prediction.

You can see him do the prediction dance when Cloud first meets Cait Sith. And you can see him do the dance again when he predicts their wedding. Now, I haven't played the game in years, but I don't recall him doing this dance anywhere else unless he's making a prediction.

I think Cait Sith's reaction definitely proves it was about BOTH of the following predictions:

A) "What you pursue will be yours. But you will lose something dear."
or
B) "Looks good. You are perfect for each other! Aerith's star and Cloud's star! They show a great future!" -- & -- “Cait Sith’s lines which seem to expect Cloud and Aerith’s wedding now makes it more painful.” (FF7 Ultimania Omega, Page 151)

I think that's why Cait Sith looks at Cloud then lowers his head in shame, he's sad that he gave Cloud a prediction and it couldn't come true now. Which goes along well with the Omega quote about Aerith's death becoming more sad because of the wedding prediction.

I've encountered people that have said the prediction only becomes sad for Aerith because she carried unreciprocated love for Cloud and THAT'S 'why' her death is more sad, not because Cloud and Aerith can no longer get married like they would have done had she lived.

However, Cait Sith's reaction to Cloud proves that it's more sad because of CLOUD'S suffering. Why else would Cait Sith single Cloud out, do his dance, and then walk away in shame? He's doing it because he just made a prediction for Cloud that he and Aerith were going to get married... and now, that prediction has become bittersweet. He felt bad for 'lying' to Cloud (the prediction was technically true, but their stars are crossed).

And if you look at the artwork "Calmness (also titled as "Serene"):

Quote for this art: “Birds, butterflies and unbelievable/mysterious animals are in the midst of protecting Cloud, who tries to hold the fallen Aerith up. His eyes and his hands have the feeling of a final parting. We can feel his gentleness and sadness towards Aerith.“

it also shows Cait Sith in the background during her death, which could be a reference to either (or BOTH) predictions, as well.

I pointed out that Cait Sith was in this artwork years ago, but I wasn't able to express myself properly and a lot of people didn't see Cait Sith at all. So I took a minute to show why I see Cait Sith in the artwork:

Why would Amano draw Cait Sith in Aerith's death artwork if not as a reference (callback) to Cait Sith's predictions?

So, yeah... I think the artwork and Cait Sith's reaction during Aerith's death is a reference to the clerith wedding and the "lose something dear" prediction.

Barret's reaction:

I think Barret's reaction is absolutely the most telling thing about the entire thing.
Barret—the tough, Tifa-biased Barret—puts his hand on Cloud's shoulder, gives him his manly condolences, shakes his head, looks at Aerith, then back at Cloud... acknowledging that there was something more than friendship between them. Barret acknowledges that, to Cloud, Aerith exceeded a friend/battle companion, and that means Barret must have came to that conclusion from watching Cloud and Aerith interact with each other.

Barret basically confirms that Cloud and Aerith had been acting romantically, if they hadn't been, then Barret wouldn't feel the need to single Cloud out the way he does.

Vincent's reaction:

Vincent knows all too well what it's like to lose the person you (romantically) love... and the fact that Vincent also pays Cloud--specifically--his condolences also implies that Vincent saw evidence in the way Cloud and Aerith interacted that suggested they weren't 'just friends', which coincides well with Barret's reaction. Barret and Vincent's reactions in this death is possibly the biggest indicator that Cloud and Aerith were (either consciously or inadvertently) openly expressing their love/attraction for one another.

Yuffie's reaction:

Could be argued for being more about her own pain, but I think the way she hugs Cloud also shows that she knows how much pain Cloud must be in after losing her. First, Yuffie prays beside Aerith, but it's not until she faces Cloud that Yuffie starts to break down and cry and heave. Nobody likes to see their friends hurting, but this was more intimate for Cloud and I think Yuffie picked up on that.

And although Tifa doesn't give her condolences to Cloud in this scene. She does acknowledge that ever since Aerith died Cloud began to shut himself down and talk less and less as a result. And, in Dismantled, Tifa even says that "Cloud not only lost Aerith..." just like she says in Case of Tifa:

“The fact that he couldn’t protect Aerith tormented Cloud—that she knew. He was trying to get over that and live. But if he went back to the place where she had left him forever, wouldn’t the grief and regret just tear fresh wounds in his heart?”

See how it's 'him and Aerith'... this also suggest that maybe Tifa also saw something more between Cloud and Aerith, despite her own feelings for Cloud.
