Did you find Aeons useful?

I hardly find any good use to them. They were slow and not that strong.
The only Aeon that was really great is Yojimbo.

I used the other ones either to just do something cool or to let Yuna gain some EXP for a change.

I found them useful. When I was in a tough jam during battles, I would just summon an aeon and it would almost always get through the battle. They were also good at dealing punishment during boss fights, at least for me.

I think they're pretty useful at times, although I only used them when I seriously needed them. But they're good to bring around sometimes during a few boss fights to deal some extra damage. The cutscenes for them were too damn long, though.

I love the Aeons!

They were always useful to me and always did a great deal of damage to the enemy.

They certainly helped out a lot and gave me a reason to use Yuna during battle. XD

Her staff moves are really annoying and slow, so I never bothered getting her to just attack anyone. She'd always just be in there for the Aeons. XD

They are excellent as sheilds against the Dark Aeons :ryan:

I wouldn't call them as useless as Ive experienced some summons in the past to be, they can still deal some hefty damage AND you can boost them with the spheres and learn them shit., Not that I b othered because I never used them for fighting anyway. They were just shields for me :wacky:

They're useful, in my opinion. The aeons can die in my characters' stead. Yojimbo is really great, I usually pay him only 1 Gil during normal battles but the damage is pretty good.

The Aeons were more useful than you can imagine! They become more powerful as Yuna becomes more powerful, and currently Yuna and all her Aeons do 99,999 damage with every hit! You need to fully make certain of the ultimate weapons in order to allow certain Aeons to break their damage limit, with the exception of Bahamut, Anima, and the Magus Sisters... After she has finished with her own sphere grid area, transport Yuna to Auron or Wakka's areas and send her through all their strength spheres... As I said, the stronger she is, the stronger they get...

Also, Debesis, you can reconfigure it so there are no long and annoying cutscenes, otherwise it would be quicker to kill ur enemy rather than summon the Magus sisters...

I found that the aeons were of tremendous help whenever I was in a tough spot. They were all great, for their own purposes, and I would rather have them die than Yuna.

In the begining of the game, they were pretty useful when it came to dealing overkill damage to most bosses. But at around the time when I began moving my characters fast through the Sphere Grid, and getting my Celestial Weapons, they began to lose their usefulness. At about the time that I began fighting the monster conquest creations, I found out that one of the Aeons worked really well against that overgrown Flan, Anima. Her Pain ability pummeled the Flan into shit.

So apart from the begining of the game, to about Operation Mighen, the Aeons were useful to me only in boss battles, and then when I had to fight the Flan in the monster arena. Other than that, I found them pretty much useless. And since I have the US version of FFX, (bitter tone) I wouldn't know how useful they'd be against the Dark Aeons.

I always charge up my aeon's overdrive meters before a boss fight and use them to soften them up (and soak up some damage). Of course doing so usually means sacrificing them in the process since the the enemy gets many chances to attack afterwards. But every boss fight up until Sin was quite easy as a result.

Useful of course! Anyone who doesnt think they are useful cant be playing the game right, they are practically a must for a lot of boss battles. Their overdrives were the most powerful moves available to you!

Well, whenever I summoned Yojimbo, he liked me so much he almost always auto-Zanmatoed for me. Anima, Bahamut, Magus Sisters, they all helped out in a pinch, but my real beast was Ixion, whom, in Omega Dungeons, could usually get about five hits before the enemy, give or take.

I absolutely loved the Aeons in this game. I thought they were a great help, and not only that they looked really cool. I mean tbh I dont think you could get away without using them in some way shape or form. My fave was Shiva, she was completely bad ass in this game and her Overdrive was epically good.

I liked summoning in this game a lot more than in others, where they just performed an attack and disappeared. I found them to be quite useful throughout the game. They where good for getting overkills on bosses, or just wiping out some of the more annoying random fiends.

They are indeed useful as shields, as well as easy overkills and they're just generally fun to look at and play as - in what other game can you control the summons!?

They're always stronger than you are, too.

They were pretty helpful in a boss battle. But other than that, I kinda forgot about them. I didn't mean to... lol. In a pinch they were great, other than that, they were just.... there.

Maybe I wasn't playing right (it happens a lot...) but I rather have :
Double Cast+ Ultima + Magic Booster + 1 MP Cost
9999 damage twice per turn even to the final boss
Much better than those slow aeons and their overdrive which usually used only once per battle.

IMO they were useful only at the beginning, aside of Yojimbo who was always useful,

Umm, maybe FFXII and FFXII:RW. The only ones I know.

I just can't agree with this. They are awfully slow and the only thing they know to do right is overdrive. Their noraml attacks are pretty average.
Lulu with her Double Ultima was much stronger than them.

I am pretty much the same, but at near the end I found them useless even in boss battles.

The only Aeon I found useless was Yojimbo, which I actually named Useless. Besides that they were all kick ass. I used them through out the game.

Well, they became less and less useful as the game progressed, at which point they were really more useful as shields than anything else.

Sure there was Anima and the Magus Sisters, but by the time you got Anima you generally were pretty much at the end of the game, and by the time you got the Magus Sisters you were generally more than capable of easily beating the final boss/s.

Actually, to me even early on the best use for Aeons was to either use them as shields so your party members wouldn't take as much damage, or to just summon them, use their overdrives, and then promptly dismiss them. They were really only useful for bosses and the bosses could generally deal with them once you'd unleashed your overdrive.

Besides, in terms of pure potential Aeons will never be as good as the characters. I'm sorry, but when I load up my game and Tidus get's 15 turns in a row dealing 99,999 damage every hit... Well I tend to laugh at how pathetic the Aeons are.
Multiply that by three (for your three party members with maxed stats).

Even if you maxed out the Magus Sister's stats, and had them all hasted, they still wouldn't get that many turns. You can't tell them to use "Quick hit", which really makes a huge difference in terms of how many consecutive turns they get.

Add all of these things to the fact that party members often have overdrives that can be vastly better than the overdrives the summons have. Sure an Aeon's overdrive may do 99,999 damage. But when Tidus does 99,999 damage every hit with his best overdrive, it's a tad bit more powerful. :P

I found Aeons to be really useful in FFX. I pulled them out all the time due to their very strong overdrives and pretty decent HP. Plus, in the beginning of the game they are twice as strong as your regular party. So, I loved using the Aeons.

Also, their intro's and Overdrive's were really cool to look at. They kept my attention. Way more useful than FFXII.
