Please, someone care to divulge this information to me?

Personally, I cannot see why people would say Final Fantasy VII is emo, nor any of the characters in it.

Please, when posting your opinion, I would appreciate it if you didn't say something like:
Because it just is

I would say people call FFVII 'Emo' because of Cloud, and everything. He had no cares for the world, or the outcome of it in the beginning, and he didn't seem like the type of hero material. Just a normal guy who happened to be a Sephy clone. So, when people hear 'Cloud' they automatically think 'Emo'.

To be honest, he seems more 'Emo' in AC anyways.

Also, I don't hear people calling FFVIII 'Emo'. Squall acts a lot more like that then Cloud does.
 
Frankly, I'm tired of hearing the word "emo." It's so stupid and everyone is starting to say it to just about anything or anyone that is or acts emotional in any way. People see someone with long hair or hair over their eyes and immediately say "Look at that emo kid!!!" I don't really think of any of the characters in final fantasy as "emo." They're all different in their own ways. If I had to label someone from the final fantasy series as emo I'd say Squall, but that's stupid because there's a million other things you could call him. At the beginning of the game you could call him introverted, rude, and quiet. Does he cry himself to sleep? I didn't think so. Do any of the final fantasy characters that we know of cut themselves at night? I don't think so. People have taken the word emo and used it improperly for far too long. Emo stands for "emotional" and unless the dictionary is wrong, then we're all emo.;) So TSG, whoever says that doesn't understand the English language.
 
Don't you hate it when people call it Emo? Kyle, you seem to have grasped what I was saying and asking quite well. Everything you've said is true, but I only wanted to see if it was just me that saw the logical sense. Good to see others don't buy into the general population of fans.
 
I said Cloud was "emo" for one reason. He is very emotional in the movie.
 
As Kyle said, Cloud didn't cry himself to sleep or cut himself. That video just states what tons of other people are thinking. As I said before, Squall seems a lot more Emo than Cloud, anyday.

No matter what anybody says, Final Fantasy 8 is WAY more emo than 7. Final Fantasy 8 was deep-fried in teen angst and served with a side of myspace poetry.
 
Final Fantasy VII is NOT in ANY way EMO! Sephiroth may have a dark side to him but it doesnt make him "emo"

"EMO" is a stupid trend thats going to do fade away in a few years, or months. No one likes trends.
 
Haha, ok, I take it back. I think the term I was looking for is "angsty". Cloud was very angsty, so was Squall. But neither game is emo.

If FF7 were emo, Sephiroth would be wearing Converse high-tops, Buddy Holly glasses, and a plaid shoulder-bag.

Good point made. Yes, Angsty is the better term for it, but angsty is so often paired with the word 'emo', so...there you go. Not a hard trail to spot there.

That said...'HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN TO MEEEEEEEE?!' :lol:

Also, I think the claims of Emo are fairly valid considering that AC decided to go with the brooding, 'I can't save anyone and my life is woe!' attitude, as though the last part of the game never happened. Not that I'm complaining, because I can see how he could fall back into a relapse after two years--but it also doesn't help that so many 'emo' people started using AC themed layouts to the previously mentioned myspace, livejournals, deadjournals, etc...You have to admit, the colorscheme in AC made it very ideal for such layouts...;D

Can't be helped. Emo seems to be 'in' now, though god knows why. TSG is right though, hopefully. It will pass.

Many people think that Cloud was very 'emo' because he didn't really care about the Planet in the beginning. Plus, he didn't seem like hero material...he was an anti-hero.
 
If people say VII is emo, then they need to play VIII. Squall is considered by everyone I know to be the "emo character of Final Fantasy". That's what me and everyone I know who's played VIII call him. Squall is emo, not Cloud. Or VII in general for that matter is not emo.
