Any chance the FFX HD will be like Tony Hawk HD?

There is very little information about FFX HD other than that it will "be in hd"

but I have seen many opinions that it will basically be a direct port in HD resolution. If that's true, all i can say is WHAT A WASTE.

We all know how Square Enix loves their graphics, and Spira is in my opinion the most beautiful world in Final Fantasy history. Even if they just spend some time re-texturing, any improvments visually would be amazing.

Tony Hawks HD is a cheapo DLC title and they managed to make that look 10X better than the original, surely Square could put in the same effort for a remaster of such a legendary game as FFX?

What i want to know is will it be on disk or will it be downloadable only? I hate download only games so i definitely will not buy if it is. Always feels like such a wste of money without a physical copy.

I can't see it being DLC.

Tony Hawk was 460mb download, and it's a much smaller game than FFX as TH1 and 2 were PS1 games , even the PS2 version of FFX was 4.19GB, so even if they just re-skin it in HD you will be looking at what? 10GB?

In countries such as Australia etc where data caps still exist, it would be suicide for sales in those countries.

I would love to see a Collectors edition released, like they did for FF13 and 13-2, although i'm probably just dreaming, but a collectors edition with a soundtrack, art book of the characters and locations of spira and maybe a figurine of Tidus and Yuna from this scene:

that'd be a dream come true, and by gosh I can dream!

If this is just a vanilla port, the curse square enix, who are already at an all time low in my estimations

Also, although Hishamoto said it's going to be "like" a remaster but with "much more improved" visuals, Kitase had said one month previous that it was a REMAKE. This contradiction needs to be looked at closer, it could be the case that we are looking at a complete graphical overhaul, but it's "like a remaster" because Hishamoto wanted to clear up that it is still the same game, just with improved graphics.

note the use of "like" a remaster, added to the fact that it is AT LEAST 10 months into development, with no launch date as yet, thats a lot of time to simply upscale it into 1080p, which would take closer to 10 minutes

I don't think it's 10 months into development. It was announced last September at the Tokyo Game Show 2011. And I think I remember reading it actually started going into development in January or February. So it's more like 6 or 7 months.

It's not going to be a remake. That's already been addressed before. The term 'remake' was probably misquoted to begin with. It's going to be a remaster, and more than likely will have a few add-ons and trophies. The add ons may likely be the Dark Aeons and Expert Sphere Grid from the International and PAL editions (the stuff that North Americans didn't get)

Yeah, I would prefer it to be on disk/card (Vita). Although, thinking on the technical side of things, I wonder how they will deal with the game on the Vita in terms of size. The game is 4.19GB on PS2 (the USA Version) and of course, the PS2 runs in resolution of around...480p/480i (native)? I'm a bit rusty when it comes to technical but the PS Vita Game Cards currently come in capacity sizes of 2-4GB; under 4.19GB and with Square-Enix upscaling graphics and having the game presumably running at the Vita's native resolution of 960x544 (qHD), the file size will be even more higher. The Blu-Ray Disc will have no trouble storing the data since capacity sizes range from 20GB to around 128GB (I think), but I just wonder how they'll get the game onto the Vita, whether they'll release it on 2 cards or make it downloadable only, but then there's some unfairness for people with 2GB/4GB Memory Cards for their Vita. I heard a while back that Sony have plans for releasing PS Vita Game Cards with higher capacities, so maybe Square-Enix will take advantage of this or maybe not? Idk, maybe I'm just thinking too much here. xD Anyway, looking at the barebones for this, I just wondering how they'll get the game onto the Vita unless I'm missing something big here or there is just some obvious answer that I'm unaware of. xD I mean, the MGS HD Collection was released on Vita on one game card, I think the overall size is 3.7GB and the original (of the two games together) was just under 8GB, maybe a bit more. But I heard that the collection wasn't even running at the PS Vita's native res (960x544) but 720x448 w/o AA. A much lower resolution and so if it's not HD nor the PS Vita's native res then it's not really much of a HD Collection and I hope that Square-Enix doesn't do the same with FFX...

Yeah, they started development for it in January. :) I agree with this mostly. It probably will be just a remaster with a few add-ons + trophies (yay. :3).

I also wonder how Square-Enix are going to deal with the lack of L2, R2, L3 and R3 buttons on the PlayStation Vita (not so much L3 and R3 because they aren't utilized in FFX) and also whether they are going to take advantage of the PS Vita front and rear touchscreens like Armature Studios did with the HD Collection for Metal Gear Solid, it'd be nice to see. :)
