Now I've played 2 kingdom hearts games and I know the general aspects of the story buyt something about this series just doesn't seem appealing to me. I dont really know whay but am I missing something?

I like Disney characters and FF characters alike and it seems that together that they would bring together the appeal but it just doesn't happen for me. The whole "traveling through worlds" thing is fun but I'm justr not satisfied.

I'm begining to think that this game is too overrated. Some say that they are better than the whole FF series. I just dont get it! I'm not really a big fan of Sora though Donald and Goofy Rock. I just cant seem to grasp the appeal of this game at all!

The storyline is not really all that amazing if you ask me. I mean come on, that whole thing with hearts just makes my bullshit sensors tingle(no offense to any fans). I mean heartless monstaers and the whole nobodies thing just makes me quiver just wishing the creators could have chosen something else to relate the story to.

Keyblade Shmeeblade. i love the idea, but it just makes the series even cornier. I mean it seems that this series was created for young children but so many older people I know like it. So my question here is this:

What about the KH series is appealing to you? If you are older than 18 and like this game then please comment so that I can understand.

Edit: though by my new sig, I do acnowledge that Roxas is Amazing! Also Utada Hikaru's(Lady who sings themes) songs are the reason I picked up Kingdom Hearts in the first place.

This is where I'd go all fanboy rage on you xD

Well I'm 21 and got into the series, I think, when I was 17.

I won't lie. What first got me into the series was that there were FF characters in it. But in my defence, half hour into the first game, I was hooked. The gameplay really interested me since I more or less just played FF games with their turn-based style, so the more free-style action gameplay was really kewl.

After the gameplay, I really got into the story. I personally loved what's been told, and the characters are awesome in my opinion. People might be bashing Nomura for his character designs (although I personally like them myself) but the man knows how to tell a story and include interesting characters. The story is one of the main reason why I look forward to future installments.

I mean, the whole Ansem thing is pretty creative. I dunno about you, but I really didn't see any of that coming so it was entertaining for me.

I really enjoyed Sora as a main character. Sure, he might not have a whole lot of development, but his charisma is charming. And he has his various moods at times. He's not always happy-go-lucky, so his friendly good guy routine doesn't get stiffling and boring. Goofy and Donald were great Disney character choices as Sora's allies and friends. Thinking about it, I guess it could have only been them :hmmm:

Let's see...I love Riku a whole lot too. Cliche anti-hero role maybe, but he far developed beyond that. He's immensely important to the story as well. He's more or less the driving force of events, so if he wasn't there, it would be hard to have the story as it is.

I'll concede at first I was sort of "meh" about Roxas as a lead in a game, but his story was interesting and I'm sure it will lead to a connection in Birth by Sleep.

And the music is phenomenal. Yoko Shimomura was an excellent choice and she's done an amazing job composing themes that match to the various moods, scenes and battles in the game. You can hear some Disney-like influences in a lot of the themes, which I think helps to portray the Disney aspects of the game. Seriously, I got quite a few KH themes on my MP3 player and I haven't gotten tired of hearing them yet xD

But I dunno...I guess it's tastes? I kind of consider myself a kiddy, so maybe I'm immature enough to enjoy the story? I personally found the series very enthralling, and even after playing KH, KH:CoM, KH2 and 358/2 Days, I've yet to feel any wane of that. I'm looking forward to Birth by Sleep, the future KH3 game, the future game said to be made before KH3 in an interview recently, and eager to play Coded if it ever shows up >.<

:thehell:

I am not over 18, but I am mature enough that I should not be playing this game, but I am still playing it anyway, almost in love with it. The series has a great story and the events all tie in with one another. There are many connections between the many characters, which adds to the overall entertaining aspect of the series. Darkness, light, and in-between, as well as many forces play a part in the series. There are many characters that are very well developed, which adds to the game's playability. Overall, the series is great. The disney characters are incorporated into the series story quite well and there are some of your favorite (I hope) final fantasy characters (*cough* Selphie *cough*) that make cameos, which is a nice little gift in my opinion. The series gets better and better with each game, sans 358/2 days. It's awesome if you give it a chance :monster:

I'm only 13 so I don't really fit into the 18+ age group but oh well. What appeals to me in Kingdom Hearts, that might be hard to answer because I think most of the game series is great. While I first got it because of the Disney Characters, now that I'm somewhat older, I can see that this story has many great characters, and I think that might be why I like the series so much. Riku in my opinion has by far the greatest character development in the story, bringing in more darker elements to the story like Betrayal and Redemption, while Sora brings charm and humor to the Series while not being entirely childish. Another thing is that I find that the whole Xehanort concept is interesting, original, a complex.

ahhh well
I can see where your coming from
as I get older im more cynical about the whole thing
I picked this game up when I was 10, and when your a kid you dont notice corny stuff and as you grow the corny stuff becomes endearing to you

I absolutely disagree that the KH series is better than the final fantasy series.
kingdom hearts is full of plot holes and implications your expected to understand, but couldn't possibly.
The story is made up as it progresses
(witch I dont blame anyone for because that's how it is when you dont know if our going to get cleared for another game)
but still.
and not to mention (in my opinion) as fans were pretty much treated like crap.
we haven't even been told if were getting a third and final title or not, and its been 4 years. all were getting is frivolous side games that are all on different console's, so if you wan to play you better pony up for a gameboy SP, DS , PSP, and soon a 3DS.
(if they're too busy making Verses XII to give us a new title game then maybe they should quit it with the side games)

the people I know that are in my age group are usually like me- people who have played it when they were 10, and still remain loyal.

The only appeal left to me, I thought the story in KH1 is good, but from there its just confusing and uninteresting. no big surprises or well thought out plots.
ito me I care about the characters. some of them. they are what keeps me playing, I just want to see what happens to them....
that's pretty much it. Im too pissed off to play another side game. apparently a large series of spin offs are on our way, but once im done with Sora's games I just dont have the money to care anymore....
