Arctic Monkeys

yeah i think what made whatever people say a better album was that i think each song was individual u could recognise them in a second each song sounded like a classic. Thats what lacks in favourite worst nightmare but like u said its one of the best albums ive bought in a while.

Might as well revive this, what with their new song being released and all that jazz

. Anyway, how good is Fluorescent Adolescent? The video has taken the place of "I'm Blue (Da Ba Dee)" by Eiffel 65 as the best music video ever. Clowns fighting = instawin.

i knew they were going to release this song as a single, its definately one of the better tracks on the album, but its gonna get played to death by radio 1 which is gonna ruin it. I havent seen the video yet/

that eifel 65 video was lame:dry:

That's the only problem, but it'll be a good couple of months hearing it all the time :).
The video is just amazing. They used the guy out of When The Sun Goes Down too. See if you can spot him (it isn't hard really).

lol it will be good to hear it while im working. Im gonna go see if i can download the video now

lolbump. :wacky:

News of a third album maybe?

I'd actually heard they'll be touring later this year, so I'm not sure what to make of that. But with Turner doing the duet album with Miles Kane sometime soon, I doubt that he'll want to be back in the studio. And the last I heard was that they had no new recording plans in the works, so...

Also, Matt Helders has been out drumming with We Are Scientists at the last few of their shows on the university tour to fill in temporarily for Michael Tapper. Really hoping it isn't made permanent.

Chances are it'll sound exactly like the first and second album, and will have lost its charm, unless they try something different.

What are the odds on them doing something other than indie pop music?

Oh no, they're stuck in a common genre. That must mean that their music will be dire, eh? :wacky:

They seem to have disappeared, though. I know that I've been desperate to see them play but there never seems to be any gigs or tours - their MySpace has been left untouched since Fluorescent Adolescent tbh.

What's the odds of any band changing their music style? Especially since it's served them so well in the past?

Animal Collective change their style every single album they release, they're doing well.

Therapy? An Irish Punk/Rock/Grunge band are constantly changing, they began as an experimental grunge group, moving to Punk Rock, to some nice dirty Rock 'n' Roll, now I'm not too sure what it is.

Members of Godspeed you! Black Emperor have gone on to change their style from the post rock genre in a different band, to a form of protest music, and they're as popular as ever, after starting with post rock.

Led Zeppelin, have experimented with many different styles, Country and Western(Bron Yr Aur Stomp), Far East (Kashmir) Rock 'n' Roll etc.

Many bands change their music style over the years, The Arctic monkeys however, strike me as one of those bands who are simply Indie Pop Rock, they'll stick to that until it gets boring, because they can't do anything else. Until they prove me wrong I will stick by that assumption.

What do you mean, will be dire. It is fucking dire, can't stand it personally, and I'm sure if they keep whacking out the same old guitar sound, people will tire of it.

Oh look, untouched, thus proving my point, they're a one joke horse. Yawn, roll on next boring indie band to whack out some dancy guitar riff and a regional accent.

Well in the course of the last two years, they've established themselves as one of the most influential bands in modern music. They're seen as one of the bands that have shaped the way the industry is currently. They're said to be the best British band since Oasis. In those two years, they've won a number of awards and have had dozens of other nominations. In two years. They must be doing something right to be so big in such a short space of time.

Influenced what exactly, the creation of Kate fucking Nash by singing in an accent?

Best british band since Oasis? I thought that was Muse, oh wait no Radiohead, oh no hang on it was Coldplay last week. Or have NME changed their minds again?

Besides, the best british band, and always will be the best british band, is Led Zeppelin, without Zep, you'd not have any of your favourite music, and neither would I.

Winning awards, getting nominated for awards does not make you a good band, you don't like every band that wins awards do you. True, some people like them, however to me, and alot of other people, they just keep pumping out the same jangley dancey crap with each album, like so many other record company produced, "daddy bought by musical instruments cause he wants me to be a rockstar", forgotten about in a few years time, boring bands.

And that's what it oil boils down to in the end. Matter of opinion.
To me, all that metal and such that you listen to is just a load of wankery and shit noise. Each to his own. It's what makes life what it is, opinion.

I was about to say the same, but that hasn't got anything to do with it, I was actually questioning whether the Arctic Monkeys would try something different, or do the same thing again. It eventually got onto our opinion.

Also, don't listen to metal these days, haven't done in a while, try listening to Animal Collective, or Therapy? (with the question mark) it's definately worth a listen, and makes a change from hearing about music from a magazine. Broaden your horizons, and throw away your copy of NME, there's alot more music you could be indulging in, you never know, you might find something much better.

I got bored of metal and found something better, and less shouty and dull :monster:

Agggh! I love me some Arctic Monkeys! I haven't bought/downloaded their second album yet, but what do you guys rate it out of 10? I wanna make sure I don't spend effort on something that doesn't match up to the first album.

I love Arctic Monkeys :monster: I only have their first album mind but I think it's great.

Mardy bum is defo one of my faves, it reminds me of arguing with my exes :wacky:

Dancing Shoes and Fake Tales of San Francisco are better than Mardy Bum. :pikamon:

Typically I like slow songs from all the bands I listen to, but those songs make me wanna jump, jive, and wail. My former friend said that the second album isn't as good though, which is why I was curious for a rating. :|

i have I bet that yo look good on the dance floor as my ringtone

Andmardy bum is still my fave so ner.

Riot van is pretty epic tho :monster:

perhaps vampires is a bit strong but...

7 or 8. The first five and last couple of tracks are really good, but there's some in the middle that aren't as good as their earlier stuff. The difference between the two albums is quite noticable.
I'd recommend both of their EPs too.
