So I was just thinking about cleaning out all the annoying bits and pieces we've collected over the years and couldn't believe how much of a hoarder Steve is.

He's not too bad but he's definitely got a problem I reckon.

I mean he has old computer parts sitting in a box in the spare bedroom that he thinks he'll use one day but I know he won't. My dad is the same.

He hoards unnecessary things like old glass bottles.

I like to be neat and tidy and I'd rather go out and spend the bit of money on an item I need, rather than keeping something for years thinking you might need it one day, and in the end just make the house look untidy and such for all those years.

I like to only have what we need and know what I have in the house and what I don't. I don't like having too much unnecessary crap that could potentially take up room for something I want to put in a certain area of the house or whatever.

We have three bedrooms and one of them is filled with Steve's things that he hardly touches.

That could be a guest room! But NO! He needs all that crap!

i used to be really bad for hoarding - to the point Ikept EVERYTHING, I still do some things, like, I have random boxes stashed here and there with random bits from years ago...theres even a bus ticket from 1998..oh yes, I kept EVERYTHING

Im quite the opposite now, although I can't bring mysel to get rid of that box of pointless shit xD

I throw everything away, everynow and then Il go on a mad spree and Il just throw things. I threw an armchair out once, and a prefectly goodbottle warmer - all the baby stuff, it was just taking up room. There was nowt wriong with any of it either, I was just sick of having all this crap dotted about my house

Most recently my CD wracks got it, whenever my mate Lianm comes round, I palm something off on him, it was an old stereo last time, this time it was a CD rack - theother went in the bin

Im not a neat/clean freak though, not by a long shot. I jut cant stand clutter and nick naks, ornaments piss me off - its just extra things to dust. My desk however, is a disgrace. I spend most of my time here so shit ust builds up :gonk:

An ex of mine was much like that, the spare room of his flat was just filled with cra, I think being with him is what turned me into a non hoarder. If I cant fit it in a cupboard or a drawer then it can bloody well go in the bin

everytime i tidy under the stairs I find new stuff to throw away, Ive no idea how it accumulates...
 
Oh I horde shit like it's going out of fashion.

Especially clothes, I have cloths from when I was like 10 haha.
 
Both tbh, i keep a lot of random shit and old stuff but its all away in the attic or stored away neatly in my room somewhere, but i am very tidy, i only hoover many 1-2 times a week because i cant be fucked, but have to clean my room every time i get up, and then any mess made, maybe 2-3 times through out the day.
 
A hoarder, definitely. :gasp: That's not to say I'm not neat though.

I like my whole room neat. I just have a problem with throwing out stuff I hardly use anymore. I still have my glittery stationery I've had since I was eight, my high school books and notebooks, my PS1 games, and so on. They're all stacked neatly in different parts of my room.
 
Bit of both really. While I try to keep my room absolutely pristine, and get all OCDish if it's messy, my wardrobe is a disgrace. I have about 7 boxes just filled with old stuff that I don't want to throw away, despite the fact that I'll never ever use any of them again xD

Luckily, my wardrobes close, so it's irrelevant that I hoard things in there, as it doesn't make my room look messy xD So, I can be a neat freak and a hoarder :gasp:
 
Yeah OCDish is how id put myself xD.. you described how I am better than i did Stevie xD But you always think, "i don't use them BUT i might some day" ryt?
 
I'm bad with clothes, theres a pair of jeans I have in there that ive had since I was 15, and I just cant bring myself to throw them out, even though they will never fit me ever again, even if i lost loads of weight, the hips still wont gwet in them :wacky:

Ive got some serious crimes to fashion stashed in tmy wardrobe and my drawers, but I just cant bring myself to get rid of it, half of it Ive never even worn, I tend to inherit stuff from various places

Opening my wardrobe is risky business aswel, chances are youwill get buried in jeans or skirts, depending on which side you open.

So Im terrrrrrible with clothes

Oh...and shoes..... ¬_¬
 
Well, the question in general I can say that I'm both. But as far as what this thread was intended for, I'd say I'm a hoarder.

I'm a neat freak in the sense that I keep my stuff very clean and stored items are always organized. In that way I'm a neat freak for sure.

But this thread is indended to shoot for holding onto things from the past. I definitely do this. I have something like 3 computers that never get used at all anymore, but yet I still have them. The sad truth of the matter is, I keep them as backups basically if my current computers go out of commission for whatever reason, but those computers are so obsolete that they're not even worth it. I keep them around for spare parts too, but do I really need an old motherboard that won't fit up with the devices I have on the computer now? Definitely not, yet I can't just throw them out.

I also have old tickets to baseball games and races I've been to in the past. But I suppose this is more of a souvenier type thing for sentimental and nostalgia purposes.

It seems like I've been burned a lot for not having something I used to have, but threw it out. So to stop from getting burned, I hang onto everything. I suppose I'm crazy for doing such things, but I always feel like something, no matter how old it is, can serve a purpose in time, so why throw it out? Well, maybe I'm just crazy then. :awesome:
 
I'm a neat freak. My bedroom was always, and still is, the cleanest room in the house. My parents bedroom, my mom's sewing room, and my dad's den accumulate lots of clutter.
 
I forgot to add something to Steve's list of collectibles.

He has 5 washing machines stashed in the shed because at first he was doing an experiment or something but now they are just...there.

He thinks he may need them for spare parts or something. <_<

I can't even put my car in the garage because of it. <_<

If we need a new washing machine we'll buy a new one! :gasp:

Washing machines are fairly reliable if you get a good one and have a good warranty. Both of which we have. <_<
 
Not a neat freak but I really do enjoy having the house clean when it's finally time to relax. We'll usually try to clean on Thursday nights so that when Friday and the weekend roll around we don't have to deal with it.
 
Neat FREAK SPAZ I have to have everything in order every minute of everyday. I spaz out if I have too much of something and I get rid of a lot of stuff in a week. :3 I can't have more than the allowed amount of books on my shelf, 29, and well... yeah

I'm a freak. XD
 
I have been told i'm a clean freak, though i don't think so. I mean i like to keep things clean and clean things up but not all the time. That is if there are others that are able to do it. I don't mind cleaning but if i'm the only one doing it then i have a problem with them.
 
I'm kind of in between. I don't hoard as in there are piles and piles of junk in my house to the point where you can hardly move about. It's not like that at all. xD But I'm not exactly very clean either. I am a lazy slob who hates to clean, hates doing dishes, hates to cook. I do clean every once and a while when it just gets bad enough even for me, but I am a neat freak with some things in my life.
 
It's kind of hard to be a neat freak in my home, but somehow I manage. My mom for example is quite the pack rat. I mean, I do get lazy sometimes and leave some unfolded laundry out, I'll admit that, but I don't keep unnecessary things. I do like to clean out my room every once in a while, and I keep my stuff very organized. My dad and sister seem to be the same. I hate keeping old clothes/shoes, so I go through my closet quite often to give away things I don't wear anymore. So, I guess you could conclude that I'm a neat freak.
 
Im odd. I hoard stuff, but I try and keep it all neat and tidy. Its organised chaos in a way lol. I know where my stuff is and Im not messy at all. I have a small room and alot of stuff! I should get rid of some of it, but Im a pain when it comes to giving up stuff Ive bought for myself lol or someone important has bought for me. There is stuff here that is from my childhood and I cant part with. Its mainly books, DVDs, bags and teddies lol!
 
I hoard0 so very badly... I keep empty envolopes because I feel bad if I throw them away. I keep books I hate. I never make my bed, I rarely clean... It's like Hurricane Amanda came through my room.
 
I'm kind of in the middle. Like I can get messy, but not too messy because my neat freak side kicks in and I have to clean it.
 
Oh dear, i'm embarassed to say that I have a terrible habit of hoarding. I keep old drawings just because thay bring back memories, I keep graded papers from school(some of them are from when I was in the 5th grade.) The list goes on and on...T^T
