Are you proud of where you're from?

LOL I think you're referring to me there. XD Hohohoho~!

Well not just you (and your family), but everyone. When I worked at Arby's, any time someone from out of state would come in, they'd ask me where I was from because I was lacking in a southern accent.

Anyway. I enjoy where I'm from and I'm proud of it as well. A lot of people have issues with the United States. I think it's ridiculous if you're FROM the United States to not realize how wonderful it is. And all too commonly people don't realize how amazing it is to live in freedom and democracy because they were BORN into it.

It seems that alot of people who live in America and whine about it and babble about how other countries are so fantastic are angsty, emo kids. Typically when they regrow their brains they snap out of it and realize America is still a pretty damn good country, and no country is perfect.

We concentrate on BOOHOOHOOHOOHOO omg BOOHOO WAR *sob* WE'RE SO INCONSIDERATE YOU MONSTER*wails* omg must save people in Africa, omg PETA, omg must send money to places that are starving. OMG AMERICA IS HORRIBLE

Actually this reminds me of a Colbert Report episode a few weeks ago. His guest was Dambisa Moyo, and she was plugging her new book Dead Aid. She's basically saying America and everyone else giving money to Africa is wasting their money because the governments in Africa are so corrupt that they just steal the money and don't help their citizens (which should be obvious, since they haven't improved over all the years we've been giving them free money). Here's the episode if anyone wants to watch, skip to 15:34.

Anyway... all too often what is good about America is forgotten. It's home to so many different types of cultures and it fosters the "American Dream." Having such control of your own life should not be taken for granted.

Even the concept of the American Dream isn't just one single goal for everyone to achieve, it's going to be different for different people, and the fact that people have the chance to go for their American Dream. If that makes sense, my brain is on the fritz and I can't word it the way I want to.

Well, I'm proud of my home country even with all the trouble going on on the home front.
Economic troubles, terrorist attacks, national image progressively getting worse...it's not exactly paradise, but the Philippines is still great because of the people and the culture.

Welp, my home country is Greece and I think it would've been a damn cool place to live...Until I moved o Sydney...

But thats not to say I'm not proud of Australia. Its a great country =)

I'm not patriotic enough to say I love my country, nor am I able to say that I'm 'proud' of my country. I live in Singapore, and while the place experiences low crime rates, and virtually no natural disasters, I'm not exactly pleased with the apparent political system.

It's not bad, actually, but somehow, I get bad gripes about it. It's kinda foolish, but other than that, I also mind the apparent fact that some people overseas do not exactly think highly of Singaporeans. All these works to make me less proud, but nonetheless, I can't deny I'm satisfied living here.

Moderately proud, I suppose.

I complain a great deal about it - particularly the government and the drinking "culture" - but I suppose I do love being British. We have such an interesting history, brilliant weather (nothing wrong with a bit of rain, unless you're stuck in it) and the stereotypes the rest of the world brand us with never cease to amuse me. Plus I've always been rather fond of Rule Britannia...

Britain does have its fair share of problems, I agree strongly with that. David Cameron has said Britain is "broken". I don't fully agree with that statement. Yes, Brits live with the problems of an underperforming Labour government, alcohol, drugs, racist bigots and out of control youths, but thankfully, that's only a minority of the population.

Most Brits are known for being tolerant, hard working and friendly people. And that's what I'm proud of. Every day I read stories that remind me how appreciative I should be towards the country- such as all the money we have donated to Haiti so far and all the money that little boy on a bike has managed to raise for the same cause.

Where I am from: No :brooding:

Where my parents are from : Yes :awesome:

Sure, America is a great place, but only for certain people. I don't feel like I even belong here. I only like America due to the opportunities it allows. It's kind of boring and judgemental and scoiety here can be a bitchotess sometimes.

Jamaica sounds like a fun place to be. I know that there are very bad things happening there, but most of my family is there and their customs seem fascinating. I wouldn't mind going there one day :awesome:

Oh god no,
Leicester is one of the shit holes of England and Englands pretty shitty to begin with.
Leicester has some of highest crime rates in england its somthing like in the top 5 for most violent crime rates in the UK and high ammount stabbing deaths

Well blood wise, I hate my background because I'm South Asian...I'd rather have preferred to be East Asian but....T_T meh. Background wise, the country I live in I am very proud to be Canadian :). Well...there's only one great place in Canada for me and that's Toronto lol, so technically I'm proud to be a Torontonian. Canada is a friendly country and it's really diverse and we can all live with one another. Sure there are some fights and such, but it's not as bad as other countries. We get a lot of yummy food here and I love learning about other cultures as well.

But...blood wise...I hate being South Asian because I find my own culture rather annoying, but the food is great.

Proud to be American, damn straight!

Even though politics here is at it's lowest point. Even though the economy might be hurting. Even though driving is getting far worse. This is still my home country and it is still number 1 in my book! Things will start to look up soon enough, which will make living conditions a lot better.

I'm proud to be American!!!

I now live in Canada, its pretty good except for the stupid french language that were forced to speak and learn.Italys service sucks compared to canada, but i gotta say,Italy is nicer and im proud to be Italian.

Oh fer sure. =) I was born n raised in Texas and I couldn't see me being anywhere else. Texas is a pretty stable state and I quite enjoy living here. Texan baby! =P
Also from Texas here. TX seems to get a lot of flak from everyone else, 'course we're always stereotyped as cowboys and rednecks. In reality TX is one of the most culturally diverse states in the nation.

I am definitely proud of my nationality, I am a Canadian, and have never lived anywhere else at any point in my life, it wouldn't really feel right to live anywhere else.

But, as unlikely as this is, if I ever became really successful in some line of work and had to travel around often, it would be cool to go different places just to see what it is like. :pikamon:

Originally I come from the North in the states, just barely handing on that northern and southern border. I'm from Maryland originally and I'm proud of my hometown, even though most have not heard of it. Havre De Grace, MD. Never once have I been ashamed to call myself a Yankee in a southern state, even my nickname with my friends is Yank. Don't get me wrong I love the south too, because my mother's family is from there, and my boyfriend is from the south, but still I'm proud to be from the North, even if some of the people up there can be jerks and tightwads not all of us are bad people.

And as far as my country, I'm proud to be an american too. Granted our nation hasn't always done the best things for us, and have been in some tight spots, when it comes down to it, to the real important things, our nation is there to lend a helping hand. So I'm proud to be a Yankee and I'm proud to be an American.

I'm not proud to be Danish or proud being from my home town. I prefer taking pride in things that I have personally achieved rather than things that are out of my control. I do LOVE Denmark and my hometown though, but in my mind love is a very different thing from pride.

I am proud of my heritage, the different nationalities I have in me, which include Dutch from my dad's side of the family and Czech from my mum's side. I love the Netherlands and every time I go there I always think, I love having dutch as a part of me :] I get to go to Holland a lot more than the Czech rep and I think I enjoy there the most. I'm actually British born though, born in London, only thing I like about England, is the capital.

I don't think I'd call my feeling 'pride,' but I do love where I live. I live in a small village which is reasonably friendly. The scenery is great, and we're minutes away from heathland, hills and (although it's in the opposite direction) the gorgeous coast.

The village I live in is small, there's little to do, but it's beautiful, peaceful and clean. There isn't a lot of public transport, but that means we have less traffic (we have very little; it's only busy when people are going to work and coming home). Furthermore, now that I can drive, I can go anywhere! :D I do feel sorry for the ladies/men who are too old to drive and can't get anywhere though. :(

The nearby towns aren't wonderful by night... and there are certainly very rough areas, but on the whole, the main town I visit it quite nice.

I must say, though, after hearing about Vancouver from a friend at Uni, visiting France, and hearing about Germany from another friend, I am beginning to think that this country isn't very clean. The streets are a bit nasty in places. :(

As I'm sure pretty much everyone already knows...I'm from Wisconsin and I live close to Milwaukee.

Am I proud of where I live? -Not really. Our city has gotten REALLY ghetto from when I was little. Our crime rate has got to be catching up to Milwaukee's. Stabbings, shootings, I know this happens pretty much everywhere now but it's to the point where I really don't feel all that safe going to certain areas of town and I don't do it because I know better. I live in a middle class neighborhood but I wouldn't be caught traveling to quite a few areas, and if I do have to the windows are rolled up and my locks are locked when I do. It's so bad that since conceal and carry has been passed I've been considering going out and taking a class and getting my own gun at some point...not to "have" one but for a personal sense of security.

Being in the Midwest they see the people here as uptight and judgmental. We live life fast here and we are always in a rush. We can be impatient and unkind at times too :P I suppose that can be anywhere but we are really classified by it here.

I am proud of being Italian, hearing that my Great Grandmother came right from Italy is really cool, my Mom even says SHE knew Italian when she was a baby, they all lived in Rhode Island/New York too, so the family is really Italian.
I'm also proud to have been born in California, even though I moved away from there when I was like 2, so I don't remember much, but I hear stories about it all the time from my mother, I've seen pictures too; its a beautiful place.

Living in Kentucky; not proud at all, I hate it here, can't wait to leave actually; I plan on moving to New York as soon as I can xD
