Dating website Darwindating.com vows to weed out the unattractive people from its dating pool, forcing them to swim somewhere else. Touting that they're "online dating for beautiful people only," they use Darwin's Theory of Natural Selection as their justification, but they point out that, because Charles Darwin was "very ugly," he wouldn't be able to join the site. From there, they proclaim the plight of the good-looking people everywhere. "Attractive people are at a disadvantage on normal internet dating sites. They have to wade through a plethora of ugly people and ugly people pretending to be attractive in order to find someone who matches their own attractiveness. Our strict rules and natural selection process makes Darwin Dating the perfect medium for attractive people to find other people of their own kind."

Indeed, the ugly need not apply. So what constitutes ugly? Well, they have a full list, including: acne, mullets, bald patches, large gaps between teeth, too many freckles, and bizarrely enough, "anyone with a middle part." There's even a "chimp calculator" to see if you make the cut.
Initially, the whole thing sounds like a gimmicky marketing ploy, a harmless half-joke to entice anyone to join the site. But nope. Last year, another exclusive site for the physically gifted, BeautifulPeople.com, went under fire when it said that Irish men were the ugliest in the world. Um, what?
And the controversy didn't stop there. Beautiful People then eliminated 30,000 new members for being what CEO Greg Hodge deemed, "ugly people."

And Hodge stood by the decision, which cost the site more than $100,000.
"We have to stick to our founding principles of only accepting beautiful people—that's what our members have paid for. We can't just sweep 30,000 ugly people under the carpet."

Unfortunately, the axing meant that Rachel Godfrey, a 31 year-old Australian nanny, lost touch with a match she met on Beautiful People.
"I was getting on really well with this American guy and we were going to go on a date and then they said I'd been chucked off and they locked me out of the site," she said. "Now I can't get in touch with him."
While Darwin Dating seeks to evolve our world into one where only the hot survive, it seems like discriminating against people based on looks is devolution. But hey, maybe that's just the ugly talking.

I will never understand this type of thinking.

Beautiful people that have had or still have some of the listed "ugly" traits include:

BRAD PITT & Salma Hayek:

Abbey Lee: Gap-toothed and one of the most famous models out there

Emma Stone & Megan Fox & Emma Watson:

I wonder, would that site turn away any of them? :hmmm:

This just made me laugh, I knew Dating sites were crap, but I didn't think some would go this far to cater to people that actually look like the people in their commercials !!

I smell Lawsuits or something to these sites.

I mean how shallow are you to apply to these "Beautiful People Only" Sites :/ well as a Upside I suppose some "Beautiful" People are shallow and don't know of true beauty in peoples souls and personalities. ((No Offense if someones applied to one of these sites in order to find someone))

I know not all sites are like this but, it feels that way since the people they show are either Actors or probably Selected People that already look good. >.>;

Also... How are Freckles ugly o_O

This is what pissed me off the most, people who made a connection with someone can't get in touch with the person and are locked out. Thats bullshit and seems REALLY Biased...

~.~ One reason why I'll never look at these places or never advise a friend or family member to try them out

i know from personal experience that all dating sites are crap. everyone lies on those sites and i have nothing but horror stories to tell. but i do agree. some one is gonna step up and sue for this. beauty is in the eye of the beholder..not the person running the site...

looking at this this just plain sucks, why is there a need to 'rule out' the ugly people, they have just as much of a right to date people as other members on thatsite.... does that mean I couldn't use that site because of my disability, if sooo i'm gonna own them right now. everybody has a right to join dating sites I say

Also... How are Freckles ugly o_O

I have no idea. Ever since I was little all I wanted was a purddy soft stawberry blonde hair color and some cute freckles... to me, freckles are GORGEOUS so this is a shock :sad3:

See, this is why I don't believe there's a set standard for beauty. Every "ugly" detail they listed is an attribute that known beautiful people have... if people say Brad Pitt and Salma are gorgeous then that disproves the acne being an ugly trait. If Emma stone and Megan Foxx have a LOT of freckles then that means what?

I think people's shallowness has gone on long enough and I say it's about time people grow the freak up. Some people find those "ugly traits" beautiful and some people don't think those "ugly traits" defines their beauty. :hmph:

I can bet right now Brad Pitt wouldn't NOT look at a pretty girl just because she had acne. why? Because he knows what it's like to be labeled ugly because of something he can't control and he could look beyond that and see the beauty anyway. The same for Salma, I bet if she sees a girl with acne or a guy with acne she wouldn't define them as ugly. :facepaw:

Some people say Scarlett Johansson is drop dead gorgeous but I think she's probably the LEAST beautiful actress in Hollywood. What does this mean? That beauty lies in the eye of the beholder... as corny as that seems, it's true. :/ I might not think she's gorgeous, but that's just in MY opinion it doesn't mean she actually is ugly or something.

It not all about looks, beauty is also defined by your inner self and your personally, i'm not the greatest looking person in more ways than one, but my girlfriend saw the inner beauty in me, these sites just bug me, for alot of people these sites are for either, 1. prev over women, 2. to have a quick 'internet relationship, and 3. for a quick one night stand...... very few people even use the site to find 'love' now days, it sad :sad3:

Meh tbh I think Freckles make a girl cuter imo and if they frown on Disabilites as well this site WILL have Law suits on their hands.

Its one reason why I don't care about looks when I'm looking for a GF, if you really like a person their physical traits shouldn't even be a issue, their personality is much more important. People are just too blind to realize this.

and sadly Stevie & seddy is right, People tend to Lie alot in these sites, not only posting a Old picture from 2-5 years ago if not more and tricking them when they meet face to face, and the site owner should not have any say in who's beautiful or not.

I know guys probably use these things for easy sex and just leave after they get what they want, some may actually want a relationship but thats probably around 20-35% of the userbase of men there.

just my assumptions on this

That's me out then! :wacky: I have the smallest gap in between my top front teeth. :lew:

Seriously, though... I'm not really sure how any website can justify doing this. a) their criteria are unreasonable, b) beauty is in the eye of the beholder and c) they've caused people to lose touch with potential partners. The last is, I think, the greatest shame of all. :/

Their criteria are somewhat damaging to the website's purpose; they limit the number of people who will find truly fulfilling relationships. :hmmm: I personally believe that fulfilling relationships are based on emotional connections. Whilst physical attraction plays a small part, it is talking to people, learning about them and identifying with them which leads to love. >_<

I also think that most of the traits they have listed as ugly are far from it. For example, I absolutely LOVE freckles on other people. :gasp: There's something so dainty about them, and those who have freckles often have the prettiest, softest faces. ^.^

The fact people have met others online then been kicked off is appalling. :hmph: The changes are by no means acceptable, but they could have at least forewarned members and given them a means to keep in touch with those they had found.

that is shallow people for you

i mean, that doesnt mean that i would try to have a relationship with any woman... but a lot of really, terribly ugly people are ugly because they don't take care of themselves. And no one is attracted to someone who doesn't at least even try to make themselves look good.

like i would have sex with any woman under like 150 pounds, give or take 10. hell, i think the first girl i ever had sex with generously exceeded that benchmark, but she was wearing a big shirt (like the kind a guy wears at a pool because he is ashamed of his man boobs) and some boxer shorts, her hair was a mess. It kind of made me feel bad that I even bothered to shower, fix my hair, or put on any clothes at all.

i mean, i probably still wouldn't have dated her

but i would have remembered her as more than "that fat slut my first time was with" :monster:

I wonder though, if someone who looked like Kevin James would be told they were ugly. Just because they were overweight.

This is a crock of shit.

Why do beautiful people only get to use this site? Maybe I'm stereotyping here, but a lot of dating websites were made for people who had a lot of issues developing a relationship/social awkwardness on their own. People who were, on the little more homely side, were given a chance to put their personality out there first, and let others get to know that without getting judged by their looks (either a wide forehead, big nose, gapped tooth, whatever).

The 'beautiful people' by no means have an issue getting dates and do not need the assistance of a computer.

Nevertheless, I doubt these dating sites are actually being used for developing relationships as the majority of 'good looking' people care about hooking up. You probably wouldn't see any of them putting any thought or depth into their profiles.

I agree here too, I've never personally found the woman gorgeous or oustanding. I easily get her mixed up with a lot of other tipically blonde actresses. Nothing makes her stand out.

I wonder though, if someone who looked like Kevin James would be told they were ugly. Just because they were overweight.

Honestly, I've always loved Kevin James and him as a person and I even think he's cute, so I wouldn't call him ugly because, honestly, he's not ugly. He might be over weight but that in NO WAY deems him ugly.

that is shallow people for you

i mean, that doesnt mean that i would try to have a relationship with any woman... but a lot of really, terribly ugly people are ugly because they don't take care of themselves. And no one is attracted to someone who doesn't at least even try to make themselves look good.
What? That can't be serious, right? Like, what the hell does that even mean? Last time I checked, there's nothing a person can do about having acne because of a hormonal problem in their body. Last time I checked, people born with gap-teeth can't just fix that by braces unless you're rich. Last time I checked, people with freckles can't control if they get those freckles. The same with men losing hair.

Unless you're specifically talking about "fat" people not trying to look good and therefor making them "ugly". If so, I say that's crap. There are overweight people that DO look presentable/clean/well washed and taken care of but people STILL call them ugly. So no "terrible ugly people" are not ugly because they don't take care of themselves. They're viewed as "ugly" because shallow people SAY they're ugly and useful idiots follow that shallow definition of what beauty is suppose to be therefor keeping that shallow vision of what beauty is alive and going.

Maybe they don't want to live around people's changing definition of "beautiful", maybe they're born with crap and unable to change it--I'm sorry, but I just can't say that's an ugly person.

Maybe that gap-toothed, acne faced, freckle covered, 150 pound person is gorgeous to someone? Is it right for ONE person to deem them ugly because of THEIR own opinion/view on what beauty is suppose to be? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and that's just the cold hard truth.

like i would have sex with any woman under like 150 pounds, give or take 10. hell,
What? Tyra Banks weighs 148 pounds... are you meaning to tell me she's FAT? 8( You say that as if that's an overly fat weight to be at? 8(

i mean, i probably still wouldn't have dated her
But she was good enough to have sex with? I'm sorry--if she was a "slob"... what does that make people that sleep with that type of person?

I love Kevin James and I would go out with him any day. :inlove:

Anywho....this is just sick. I mean who's to judge if someone is ugly? Someone has a big nose and to some it's ugly, but to others it can be beautiful. Why does some site get to decide that?

Also, I'm pretty sure that the people could decide that on their own. There are videos and pictures on the site, why can't a person decide for themselves if they'd want to date them? If there is an "ugly" person on the site, the people who wouldn't want to date that person won't. But, maybe someone else is interested. It's one thing to not date someone for looks, but it's another to shun them completely just to have "beautiful" people.

This completely defies everything we're taught; that beauty is on the inside/in the eye of the beholder/don't just someone on their looks cuz that is really mean :mokken:

It's stupid, and I think many people, "beautiful" people alike, won't like it.

But either way, it's just a dumb dating site.

What? Tyra Banks weighs 148 pounds... are you meaning to tell me she's FAT? 8( You say that as if that's an overly fat weight to be at? 8(
she also has a huge rack that you can bury your face in and do the motorboat on

But hey, it was just a ballpark figure. you'd never have looked at me a couple of months ago and say i look like i weigh 300 pounds. the last time i heard a girl say she was getting fat was in middle school and said she was like 120 pounds. rip my balls off and drop em in a garbage disposal for thinking 30-50 pounds was being generous. :monster:

i cant speak for women, but 50 pounds was a pretty significant difference to me
But she was good enough to have sex with? I'm sorry--if she was a "slob"... what does that make people that sleep with that type of person?

well yeah

i mean, she had a nice ass. but meaningless sex is just meaningless sex. you do it just to grab an ass or hug a leg and pound it furiously until your ass and thighs feel the way your calves do after you've ran a couple of miles.

Haha @ these posts.
Anyways, back to the main topic. I've heard of this website before; it's just shallow, really. To a weird extent. I think looks can be a good way of getting someone to pay attention to you, but it's personality that makes people want to be with you, overall. I've been out with people for looks, but most of the time I date them for their personality, and whats good in it. I don't judge someone if they have a certain 'ugly' thing about them, because I for one have no room to talk. My one word sum up of this: SILLY. :3

I don't really see how they can "weed out" the unattractive people from this bullshit site, when what constitutes as ugly differs from person to person.

Really what these guys are saying is that they know what ugly is, and what they say is 100% right. Why should people take their definition of ugly as gospel? Different people find different qualities attractive.

I'd be interested to see what they would do if they asked 100 people if they liked blue eyes, and the majority answered 'No'. Would they then insist that people with blue eyes are unattractive? No. Of course not. People who make these ridiculous rules are only interested in what the loudest voices of society have to say.

Just shallow, shallow bullshit. I don't even know how to digress into this, other than it's a crock. If this were a publicity stunt to attract more potential singletons to their site, it's a crappy way of doing so. Let's see the people who run the site, let's see if they're 'beautiful'. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, yadda yadda yadda.
