[21/08] LR Gamescom trailer reveals the Wildlands, Moogle Village, Mog's Return, and Sazh attacked.


Who'd have thought? Square-Enix showed up at Gamescom with a new (possibly another spoiler-unfriendly) trailer for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. It formally introduces the Wildlands, the fourth of the four continents of the game's world, and completing the lineup of visitable locations as of revealed, along with the Dead Dunes and the cities of Yusnaan and Luxerion.

The trailer features the climax(?) of the duel between Lightning and Snow. It then shows Lightning fighting with Fang against some generic hordes. Then towards the end, the Chocobo chick is fighting against Sazh. But none of that is important because there is a MOOGLE VILLAGE in the game, and Mog is back! :wunderbar: :ladypompom:

FFVI fans, gather round. Here is your chance to see Lightning cosplaying as Locke:

Well, the game looks ten times better than it has before! :O The world looks interesting and varied! I adore the moogles, and I have a feeling the missions could be quite engaging. :) I have absolutely no idea what they are going to do with the story though... :/
 
Hah! Another trailer? If this one reveals Sazh, I can expect the TGS one to reveal Vanille(since she is already confirmed)

This is probably one of the better looking trailers of LR. It is nice to see Sazh is still the same old guy :lew: More mog? I dont really care for Mog unless we can throw him off cliffs again.

It seems that Snow is a "villain" but not exactly the big bad. Too much spoilers, SE. Are you going to reveal Caius next month as well?

The article I wrote states that the wildlands are equal to Skyrim's open world in a way. Talk about exploration.

I guess it is confusing that the Chocobo Chick is not Chocolina anymore....

I knew there would be "guests" in battle.
 
I really love the way that the Moogle Village looks! It's so pretty and has colored lights and stuffs. :jess: Seriously though, that was a cool trailer. It did get me more excited for the game, and that's a good thing. It does seem that the graphics have gotten much better from the earlier trailers.
 
This trailer definitely does make the game look much better. It's still on the edge of my radar, but at least it's in the "might buy sometime" zone again. The comment about the large open areas actually has me mildly concerned, though. A large open area can either mean that someone has put a great deal of time into putting a lot of detail into the game, or that the developers hid the fact that they have only a little detail by spreading it out across a large area. Based on previous information about this game I'd be quicker to assume the latter, but this trailer definitely makes the former a possibility.
 
I'm liking the Locke costume. It actually suits her unlike most of the others that have been shown imo.

The screenshots show promise too. It was gonna be a game that I'd get when it reached a fiver. Now I may pay out £20 :lew:. I honestly think Square did well with this trailer :)

the game always looked varied from the beginning. but the problem i see is that theirs no middle ground from either ffXIII and XIII-2. all of it is too drastic too me. i'm sure considering the gameplay is more live-action that they'll be interesting regardless, but i have a feeling the plot is just not engaging enough for me to even care.


Granted Lightning looks much more better in CGI than any of the previous XIII in the past (and i actually like Snow's new look) but she just looks out of place in those outfits. it seems out of character, the things she says just doesn't match her tone. it's almost as if she's always sarcastic. As for the plot, considering theres only 1 ending it seems messed up for the trailer to ask "who will you save, who will you sacrifice". if theres one ending, we don't get to decide, the story gets to.

And once again, the only thing to ever draw me into XIII is Sahz and Hope. (mainly Sahz this time as its hinting suicide) but then again that chocobo seen is making me question the level of maturity this game has. similar to XIII-2
 
I'm not a fan of all of these trailers they keep doing honestly. I just feel like they're going to reveal way waaaay too much and the game will have nothing left to really surprise the player. If they wanna reveal costumes then fine, but revealing shit like Moogle Village? Now THAT would have made me smile all over the place to be completely surprised with that because I love moogles. Idk it just doesn't sit right with me TBH.
 
I'm looking forward to this game a lot more now. :D The Moogle village is so cute and lovely~
