[05/06] Snow is back! As Governor of the "City of Pleasure"

JQkN6z0.jpg

Snow Villiers. Former Team NORA leader. Former hero to SEERAAAH! Former trenchcoat model.

He'll be back for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, to perhaps no one's surprise. He was last seen trapped in the Void Beyond by a Chaos-clad Yeul entity, but that isn't going to stop him from appearing in Nova Chrysalis/formerly known as Novus Partus with a new wardrobe and a new job.

So what is he? A mercenary? A bounty hunter? A merchant? A Chocobo breeder? A janitor in Luxerion? An arable farmland labourer?

No, he's now the Governor (or Mayor?) of the uhh, "City of Pleasure" according to the latest Jump magazine scan just above. He continues to harbour regret and anguish for his failure to save Serah, but at the moment he is decking it out in a suave black suit. Jump says he looks akin to one of those Japanese hosts, apparently.

Yes, I am dead serious.

Thanks, NeoGAF and Nova Crystallis!

:ness: Im fed up of hearing stuff about final fantasy 13. Cant they just focus on Versus or something else. A new FF game or another kingdom hearts game. Its been almost 10 years since KH2....Cmon now SE >_>

:srsly:

I think I have said this before, but let me rephrase this. I am perplexed on how they can possibly stretch and twist the original FFXIII characters and world into such chaos (literally).

It's almost cruel how a pretty much ordinary guy living in a seaside town in a floating world, having a regular relationship with a schoolgirl whose sister is an ordinary soldier, has been transformed into a club host governing a city, whose girlfriend became a time travelling fortune teller befriending the last person alive in the world, whose sister is pretty much a goddess who saves people's souls, living in a completely different 'timeless' world. On top of that, they have been living for centuries since the start of XIII.

And I am not even making the stuff above, for the most part. It is just ridiculous at this point if you look at the trilogy as one.

Regardless, I am still looking forward to the game, for the world exploration and gameplay, and just to see how they can end this ridiculous chain of events with a good conclusion (which I really doubt so).

It's really sad and disappointing because I personally liked the story in FFXIII... SE please do something miraculous...

Mayor is the appropriate term for a city leader, Governor is next level up.

Woah! I didn't see that coming! I was in shock for a second. I think he looks pretty cool. In the pic on top, he kinda looks like Riku from Kingdom Hearts. Anyway, I'm glad he's back. At least it's another familiar face in the final game. XD

Well, other discussion boards aren't quite clear what exactly the "City of Pleasure" is either (aside from perhaps, a whole city full of brothels!), but someone said that Snow has been "installed" as the big cheese of the place by a higher power as a representative. So a uhh, Governor-General of a brothel city?

It's lovely to see that he's managed to escape from timeless entrapment in a colosseum, discovered the fate of Serah, has become depressed in response, but still making it to this totally new doomed world five centuries later despite time being a moot concept after the end of FFXIII-2, and becoming the boss gigolo. What on earth was Toriyama just snorting now? This seems like fanfiction at work. It doesn't sound like a serious Final Fantasy story I should take seriously. It sounds like it is deliberately taking the mick out of itself. And I would respect Lightning Returns if it puts its hands up and admits that we shouldn't take it seriously. But no! We ought to!

That aside, he looks a lot better, hair notwithstanding. He was starting to evolve into a haggard Chocobo in the previous game, but at least now, he doesn't look as ridiculous. Come the day when Snow looks well-designed compared to Lightning's Gundam-dominatrix-vampire getup!

Ohh yay!
How can a XIII Lightning Return not have Mr. "Hero" himself! I love to hear how many times he will call himself "Hero" in this game!

Ok sarcasm over...

As a person that liked XIII and XIII-2... I have never been able to stand Snow... I hope that if he is in it, his damn personality does change. Except it probably wont. I will hear "I am the Hero" all the damn time, maybe he will call Lightning up along with Hope and scream it in the cell phone. "Hey Lightning, should let you know that I am in this game and I am the Hero still!"

FFXIII waste of time
FFXIII-2 even more waste of time
FFXIII-3 SE ending up bankrupt and blaming Tomb Raider's weak sales.. the nerve..

Sorry, Fleur- I did not mean to seem like I was correcting you. I thought I would just state the difference between them for non-USA people, so someone with the info could state which is the appropriate term.

This is what I predicted Snow to look like based on some information about Square Enix. I wonder if the dark entity Yeul has something to do with this since she was the one who never let him go. His look certainly does look more evil. What does the city of pleasure mean in this context?

It could mean lots of things. Getting over Serah's
death
could be a possible reason to govern such a place.

I also think that he will not be a friendly from the looks of it. It is most likely that chaos is the cause. SE did say Lightning would have to "destroy" her former allies due to chaos overcoming them or something.

He looks cooler and I just knew he would be wearing black.

Maybe he's come back as some FFXIII version of Lucifer. :hmmm: Lures people in to this 'City of Pleasure', but it turns out to be some sort of hell for those who fall into that trap. I can imagine that concept being better than whatever they come up with. :wacky:

This is pretty much how I feel. I'm still looking forward to the game, and I liked FFXIII and XIII-2 (the latter more for its gameplay than for its story), but this is just getting so weird now...

So in other words "City of Pleasure" is probably a place where Lightning can "Get Off" and Snow is King Pimp, but least for once he looks like a real character and not some wannabe white rapper/Crazy dood with chocobo hair

XIII-2 wasn't bad at all, XIII-3 may be bad, seems like a really confusing world X.x

Snow is head pimp of Sexy City? Sounds like a fun time.

I do wonder where the others will end up.

And why Lightning heads to "Pleasure City".

Or, I would be wondering if I had an intention on buying this game.

Ahahaha- is this like Flash Gordon where Aura lures men to her "Secret pleasure moon" ??? :wacky:

I don't know...I think his all black outfit looks ridiculous and tacky, but I have to say less tacky than his ridiculous feathered mullet in the last game. I'll play this game when I can get it for $10 or something used like I did XIII-2 because I feel that's all the games they've been chugging out in the last five years are worth.

My SE sense is tingling and telling me that this game is going to be very sub par...but hey, they are more than welcome to try and prove me wrong :awesome:

My gosh the 'City of Pleasure', what even!?

At least Snow's hair looks better than his fancy mullet in FFXIII-2

It kinda makes you wonder if they're gonna pull out some sort of twist in which Lumina turns out to be Serah, or something like that. :wacky:

Managed to find this on Tumblr.

Oh wow Lightning is such a GReAt lead character ! Not only is she causing trouble and provoking anger in Noel she's now pissing off Snow as well whom I assume is hurt after a certain event from FF XIII-2. What's next ? Pissing off Hope ?

What's her reason ? Snow is just I assume so far just being some Host Club type person in the city and she wants to kill him ?? I just.... I just don't understand why everybody is so crazy over this woman. So far Snow is showing no plans to " destroy the world " or be a Villain. At the moment Lightning is just going around provoking her old friends because she believes that she's the greatest thing that's ever graced her universe. So far this is making me feel like punching a wall.

I wonder if anyone ever thought that she may "HAVE" to fight each person that she had a connection with in this case Noel & Snow, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw fights between Afro Dood/Hope/Fang&Vanille(maybe who knows!)/etc. but it is odd that shes fighting 2 people she knows, so I'm assuming its some kind of test to return the world back to normal.

Course its just assumptions on my part xD
