[27/12] *SPOILERS* FFX|X-2 Remaster voice drama leaks out! FFX-3 becoming increasingly likely

Well, that escalated quickly. No sooner has FFX|X-2 HD Remaster been released in Japan has someone decided to leak out to the internet the entirety of the game's most interesting new content: the 30-minute audio drama/novelette penned by scenario writer Kazushige Nojima. Naturally, there will be spoilers in this article, and spoilers floating around the internet, so if you wish to find out yourself come the game's English release in a few months, I suggest you look away now.

The 30-minute audio drama plays during the game's ending credits and it takes place a couple of years after the events of Final Fantasy X-2. It is referred to as a "Final Fantasy X-2.5", and officially begins to flesh out the post-X-2 universe after a decade of internet fanfic since FFX-2's original release.

SPOILERS!

1) Yuna has allegedly severed her relationship with Tidus.

2) Sin is somehow back in town, and Yuna sets out to stop this familiar menace...again.

3) At least two new characters are featured. Online rumours seem to suggest that the girl in the top image below is Auron's daughter somehow - or at least, she claims to be Auron's daughter.

The following video is of course in Japanese. If anyone is an expert in Japanese, have a crack at this:

EDIT: According to the video uploader ReikiKirei, the audio drama consists of:

WARNING: Spoilers.

- Most of this bonus audio are told by 2 characters: Chuami and Kurugum. They are sent to Besaid Island by Baralai to search for Yuna.

- Tidus isn't together with Yuna anymore, but of course, the real reason isn't explained. At the beggining of the drama, when Chuami, one of the protagonists asks Yuna about Tidus being her boyfriend, she still confirms, but at another point (although
I'm sure it's a lie) when the 2 protagonists are spying a convo between them, she is jealous about some Tidus' friend (Marufi - a friend according to him). Then, she tells him she doesn't care anymore and apparently got another person she likes. Weird enough, he just ask: Who?, which she replies "Someone you don't know."

- Later though, Tidus asks Lulu if she know about who could be Yuna's new love. Lulu gets pretty disappointed and says she thought Tidus would know Yuna a little bit more. She then tells Tidus to figure it himself.

- The weird part about this is when Kurugum, the other protagonists, tells Chuami that he likes Yuna and they should separate from each other. (Like they are trying to induce people to believe he is Yuna's new love, but I doubt it could be, as he has a voice of a 14 years old kid).

- Tidus is still a Blitzball star, but when Chuami handshake him, she notices he's pretty injured and with no energy at all, although he is trying to hide it. Later, when she meets him again, hiding from someone in Bevelle, she also notices he's injured. This may be related to why he and Yuna aren't together anymore.

- Apparently, Yuna woke up from her "bad dream" (aka her FFX-2 version) and is talking like her FFX self again. Rikku and Paine aren't mentioned in this bonus audio.

- Sin is back, although it's not explained why and how it's back. It's told, however, that it was activated by something (note that they use the word Summoned anymore).

- One of the protagonists (Chuami) of this bonus audio drama claims to be Auron's daughter, although this is confronted by Lulu when she mentions about it. Lulu even saus she doesn't look like Auron like Yuna looked like Braska and Tidus looked like Jecht.

- When she asks Lulu if her mother is a liar, she tells her that she wouldn't go so far, but if Auron was really her father, he would definitively make sure she would know, because that's how Auron was.

- In the end of the bonus audio, Yuna's famous words from FFX about defeating Sin are back, with the crowd cheering. You know what that means, right?

Hmmm even though I like FFX and partially enjoyed FFX-2 I thought it should have ended there. If this is the case and these spoilers are accurate and FFX-3 is likely then people can't even complain about the FFXIII saga because it seems like they are literally scraping at the bottom of the barrel to continue FFX's overall story. Why would Yuna break away from Tidus when we had two games of her literally going on and on about him and wanting a happy ever after to now this? and Sin spontaneously coming back its just ugh why they bother?

Not yet been able to find a fully confirmed and complete spoilers description of the audio drama, but from the words of the video uploader him/herself:

If this is true, I have no respect for these people anymore. :lew: The ending of Final Fantasy X was bitter but beautiful. Although Yuna could not have been expected to live her life alone, and therefore would have had to love another man, one felt that her love for Tidus would be eternal. X-2 gave us a happy - albeit unnecessary - ending. If Yuna and Tidus DO split up, they've completely devalued my favourite story. Yuna and Tidus' relationship should NOT become a highschool, teenage drama!

Square Enix is killing another life long childhood memory... Why do they need to kill my childhood? :(

Seriously, what is the point? I mean I guess they could like do Yuna and Tidus kid... like they did for FFIV the after years.... but... I just can't see any way how this could be good in the end...

Also I wonder if this would come out before KH III and FFXV :wacky:

Also what Lew said in the first article... Something like "because Square makes good Final Fantasy Sequels" :wacky:

It sounds like it could be a musical
I was thinking of Highschool Musical when I made my first post. :/ I'm not even interested in these new characters... Speaking of which, how on earth is Auron's daughter meant to tell Auron that he is her father, if that is indeed the case. -_- Even making Sin return is an absolute mistake, as it makes the entire message and story in Final Fantasy X - everything that Yuna and her team fought for - pointless.

Is this all Square is focusing on? I liked X as much as the next person, but like VII and XIII, it should just be retired...

I liked X. But they should have left is at X... X-2 was a dreadful game IMO but (depending on the ending you got) it closed the storyline just fine. To then try and extend it further is crazy, to break Tidus and Yuna up DESPITE THE FACT THE WHOLE OF X-2 WAS ABOUT YUNA FINDING TIDUS, and bringing Sin back even though X was about destroying him for good... what's the point in ruining the story? As other people have said, if that stuff is true then both X and X-2 are pretty pointless stories.
They should give up with sequels. They're always shite. Put their efforts into remaking the PS1 classics (because lets face it, X and X-2 didnt need a HD remake. The graphics are already awesome). Or concentrate on developing a new FF thats actually good for a change. Not shitty sequels

:jess:

Oooo, isn't this exciting? Another sequel to FFX! The FF game that so many people think was the last good one Square Enix made! Aren't you all so excited that they're finally listening to you and going back to their roots? You're finally getting what you ask for!

...bahahaha. This is priceless.

Much as I enjoyed X-2 (more so than X in fact; Yuna finally stood on her own two feet, rather than swooning helplessly into the arms of her effeminate generic lead protagonist every time danger threatened) it was, like XIII-2, entirely unnecessary, because FFX was a self-contained game. It had an ending. It didn't need a sequel. X-2 sure as hell doesn't need a sequel, especially not after so much time has passed.

Square Enix are really going to shoot themselves in the foot if they keep bringing their past glories back from the grave. More so than they already are making HD remasters and fifty million ports, anyway. So much for progression. Oh wait, what's that again?

Maybe wel see a very realistic storyline where Yunas a housebound single mother with a couple kids trying to get Tidus to start paying what he should in child benefits. As much as shed love to go and stop Sin she cant find a sitter.

Anyone want more madness? Here's my write-up of what I have found to be a comprehensive summary of the audio drama. Not sure how accurate this is, but it corroborates a lot with what has already been brought up:

------------------

Chuami (the new female protagonist of the audio drama) has been informed by her mother that she is the daughter of the legendary Guardian Auron. Auron himself never acknowledged ever having a daughter, so presumably he never knew he had a child. Lulu wisely takes this with disbelief, and while she does not want to blatantly tell the girl that she and her mother are a pair of liars, she would have thought that Auron would have let them know. But at the moment, Chuami hasn't been the only person in Spira who has claimed to be related to Braska, Auron or Jecht.

Kurugum(?) is a scion of a family of Summoners. Ever since the Eternal Calm set in and rendered his career path pointless, he hasn't had much to do.

There are now two Yevon factions. One is a more moderate one (Yevoner?), which Yuna and the people of Besaid are allegedly members of. Yevoners typically continue to see worth in the old temples, and regularly pray in them for the extinct Fayth. The other Yevon faction is referred to as Shin-Yevon (True Yevon), which sounds somewhat more sinister.

Lulu has now found a job as the chief of Besaid Island.

Yuna and Tidus have hit the rocks for some reason, and they have separated. Yuna seldom contacts him, and at the time that the audio drama is set, she hasn't contacted Tidus in a while.

Chuami and Kurugum belong to some group or whatever, and seek to invite Yuna along into the Farplane. Yuna complies and brings Wakka along, where they find a father and his daughter conversing with their dead wife/mother. For some reason, Yuna can hear the words of the deceased woman, even though she wasn't the one who summoned that particular person. Kurugum reacts with surprise and curiosity. Additionally, Baralai seems to have been aware that Yuna can listen in on the dead, and wanted her to come to the Farplane for this very reason.

There's something about Yuna being requested to Send the dead individual (uhh, wouldn't the person have already been Sent...?), but she refuses, reasoning that everyone has a right to see their departed loved ones.

Upon re-emerging from the Farplane, Sin has inexplicably returned. It appears that if someone possesses enough constitution and willpower to "summon" Sin, they can.

In Bevelle, Yuna wishes to speak with Tidus. But there's a girl called Malfi(?) whom Yuna misinterprets to be Tidus's new girlfriend. Tidus assures everyone that Malfi is just a friend of his. Yuna says this is fine. She has found a new guy anyway (...the hell?). Tidus, taken aback, asks who this new man in her life is. Yuna just says that he's someone Tidus isn't acquainted with.

Kurugum, despite having a voice and a Nomura sketch that makes him sound and look like a 14-year old kid, tells Chuami that he cannot be with her anymore, because he loves Yuna. Chuami shrugs her shoulders. She and Kurugum were never a couple, so whatever.

One bit from the original post caught my eye:

- Tidus is still a Blitzball star, but when Chuami handshake him, she notices he's pretty injured and with no energy at all, although he is trying to hide it. Later, when she meets him again, hiding from someone in Bevelle, she also notices he's injured. This may be related to why he and Yuna aren't together anymore.

Domestic abuse much? THAT'D be unexpected!

... This sounds like a bad Soap opera, or a bad reality tv show... next week who is Yuna's baby father!!!!

Seriously though... If this is accurate... They 100% killed the ending of X and X-2

WHAT, WHAT, WHAT AND WHAT :rage:

so, you destoryed both games endings, one in which only happened for free cash, destoryed the best relationship the series had and made it into a episode of eastenders (A soap opera in the UK), and after all that, Sin is back anyway and FFX-2 was all a bad dream, well then how da hell is Tidus back then if X-2 was all just Yuna having a bad dream.

I think I just lost all trust in the company after destorying this

long live Yoshi-P, the only FF guy in square who cares about the series

OK, gt a clearer summamy from NEOGAF

SPOILERS AGAIN, DON'T CARRY ON IF YOUR WAITING FOR THE ENGLISH RELEASE

"Kurugum is a 'sender' as Yuna calls him, I'm not sure if this term was used in 10/10-2 but think it means he's a Sender (since summoners are 'summon'-ers, nowadays there's nothing to summon but people still die and require sendings, so presently there are Senders).

Chuami harbors resentment towards Yuna, most likely because of the Auron father thing and also because Chuami actually dislikes Yevon, and Yuna has been doing nothing but praying at the Besaid Temple to a fayth that no longer even exists. Chuami thinks it's bull****.

A second shoopuf has appeared at Moonflow. In FF10/10-2, the shoopuf at Moonflow is supposed to be the last of its species, so the mystery appearance of a shoopuf who happens to be quite close to the last shoopuf (a sphere of them is described in the audio) is a bit alarming. Thirty years ago the last shoopufs were a couple, but one of them died. My understanding is that Chuami and Kurugum ask Yuna (at Baralai's request) to investigate, and then go Bevelle to meet with Baralai about it. When Yuna refuses, Chuami uses Tidus against her, saying that Tidus is in Bevelle and he seems to be injured, which immediately sparks Yuna's worry.

Yuna agrees to go after consulting Wakka and Lulu, who also come along.

The fayth are acting weird. What fayth normally show are memories or just images of dead people. However, at the Moonflow the traveling crew witness a fayth image respond to a child's question like a sentient being. The child begs her mother to come back, and the mother answers in affirmative.

This later relates to the reappearance of Sin at Bevelle, implying that someone wished for Sin to come back.

In any case, when Sin reappeared, they realize the problem of trying to defeat Sin when summons no longer exist. Wakka and Kurugum defer to Yuna, waiting for her decision on how to handle the new Sin, but like an airhead she says amidst all of this that she must meet Tidus.

So Chuami's pissed and she decides to eavesdrop on Yuna and Tidus. Who happen to be having a lovers' quarrel while Sin runs off like Godzilla I suppose.

At this point Kurugum tells Chuami they will have to part because he has to go with Yuna, that Chuami won't understand because she's not a summoner. Chuami is confused, throws her hands up and tells him to do what he wants.

Chuami heads back to Besaid. Tidus also goes, to ask Lulu about the new guy that Yuna likes. Lulu tells him to go find the guy himself.

At the beach, Chuami wonders aloud where the summoners are; Tidus answers that they must go 'there' (I think he's implying Zanarkand?). Chuami asks him if he's okay with being dumped for that, to which Tidus replies, "We made a promise to be together forever."

Chuami thinks he's full of ****, but doesn't say anything because Tidus is clearly doing a really poor job of hiding his pained face.

At the end, in a stadium setting most likely (from the sounds of crowds and cheering), Yuna promises the people she will defeat Sin."

so in summamy, Sin got 'wished' back, and Yuna + Tidus are having relationship issues, they must still 'love' eachother as she rushed to bevelle after someone mentioned him being 'hurt'

... Wtf did they watch inception when they came up with this plot?????? "welcome to a dream in a dream, in a dream..." I guess they went too many dreams in!

I think that Yuna and Tidus split because Yuna finally realized that, technically, he doesn't exist. She finally decided to grow up and get a real boyfriend instead of an imaginary one :yay:

This stuff is all fantastic, by the way. I thought XIII-2 was hilarious with the way it so thoroughly butchered what little sense there was in XIII, but this is My Immortal level gold, right here. Next thing we know, Chuami will actually BE Auron, and Yuna's new secret lover will turn out to be a resurrected Seymour. After all, dying was never something Seymour was any good at.

You know what? I hope this is all accurate and genuine, rather than internet trolls having fun. Because if nothing else, it'll make me laugh, and since Square Enix are incapable of making serious, high quality entertainment, they might as well stroll down the "so fucking awful it's brilliant" path.

X-3? Nay, I say. X was even fine without X-2, but that's a debate for another day. :lew:

I admit that what I'm reading is slightly intriguing for post-X-2, but the information hardly warrants a second sequel. But alas, SE believes that a giant like X should be extended again.

By the way. Is it me, or is what I'm reading stating that X-2 pretty much didn't happen anyway? (The tidbit about Yuna waking from a bad dream.)

As hilarious as this sounds, it highlights the more serious problem of a bunch of middle-aged men who are utterly creatively bankrupt at this point.

Then again, we've already suspected this anyway.

EDIT: Creatively bankrupt AND not knowing where the line is.

I think this has got to be the most ridiculous stunt Square has ever pulled on our fandom. This is just ridiculous. No, it's shit. This is so shit. It's not even the break up that's bull (because we know they're probably not together because of some selfless reason) it's the fact that they're a.) about to ruin X's plot and b.) would use some lame ass drama to try and make some cash. This, like it's been said, is just sad. They must REALLY be hurting for money.
