Best Final Fantasy Game?

Final Fantasy X
Loved the graphics, gameplay, voice acting. Hated the annoying reminder of X character is best against X enemy. :/

So I voted for everyone (except XI) and I will explain why...

Each Final Fantasy I take as a new experiance and a new story and new plot device and new themes.... If you take each final fantasy as its own game and not think "I hope this is as good as VII or VI or IV or XII or IX or X" ect ect. I find that you will enjoy the games a whole lot more.

I played most of the games when they got released (except II and III for the obvious reason that they didnt realse them in America till a later time)

And I have to say each one offers a new experiance to the Final Fantasy series that I always enjoy...
The probelm with some Rpgs... is they try to do too much of the same...
This is why I think so many people love and hate the final fantasy seriers... It is Square-Enix's... play toy I guess you would call it... The new stuff they wanna try...they will try with Final Fantasy over any other RPG series they own....
Star Ocean has always had the same fighting style and same story of space....
Dragon Quest always past always same style of fighting...all the same for the most part....
Now I'm not saying these are bad series or anything and each of those games have there own original story line and characters...
What I'm saying is that Final Fantasy dares to try something new...sometimes it works...sometimes it wont.... But... They learn and build off of it... and That is why I think the Final Fantasy series has done so well... they dont try keeping things the same... They dare to try and expand the series...

Now.. I didnt vote for XI for one reason alone... I dont like ORPGS... I like a conclusion to my stories...

It's not surprise that VII is still the most popular of them all, but my favorite is IX. The storyline is so great and rich. I love the characters and how they develop. Vivi happens to be my favorite :). I also love IX has such subtle, but great humor. A little of humor always helps.
The music is fantastic, this is the only FF game that I paid money to buy the soundtrack.

Final fantasy XII is the best final fantasy in my opinion ...
i just liked every part of it
1-the Unique battle system
2-magic , spells
3-and ofcourse the quiqekings , they were awesom
4- the characters
5-the music
6-the story line
7-for having a huge amount of weapons and items in the shop
8-the license bord and the gambit
9- the hunting quests
10-the monsters and the bosses
11-the huge world map wich consist of seas ,deserts , snow lands , cities etc .

FFVII is my favorite game and has been for many years. It made me care for our planet and helped me understand some aspects in life that I didn't before. It made me feel so many emotions and I grew attatched to the characters as time went on. FFVII brings me happiness whenever I play. It's my favorite Final Fantasy, hands down.

For me it would have to be Final Fantasy 8. I love the graphics style, the amazing music, the emotional / dramatic storyline and the relationship between each character. The junction system was something quite unique I know a lot of people hated but I loved it. The card game in this game was also the best in my opinion.

Love VII, VIII and X

Need to play IX again, and XII for the first time.

Of the ones that I've played - VIII is the best for me. Preferred the storyline, preferred the characters, loved the soundtrack, and liked the little innovations (draw, junctioning etc).

XI - seriously, someone voted that as the best? :D

FFVII because it was the first FF game that I played and I was really young when I was playing it. Just very nostaligic. Great storyline, and nothing has ever seemed to beat it for me. I have more than one favourite. I love many of the others, but this has to be my absolute best. Another choice would be FFXIII, though I know lots of people hate it.

For the longest time I had VII as my Number 1. The reason I dropped it was, believe it or not, because of Crisis Core. I saw how Zach was a more of what a hero should be than Cloud. It evaded me for the longest time that Cloud has no confidence through 3/4 the game. Zach was determined and confident which is what I like in a hero. I'm not saying that Cloud was a bad character. If someone is not going to be the typical happy and unbeatable hero, I would rather them be a darker hero like Batman then a somewhat depressed Cloud.

I digress.

Final Fantasy VI is my favorite. The Super Nintendo had so many great games and VI is an example of that. The ability to change characters and to almost make anyone the main character really stood out to me. This made the all the stories in the game more demanding for attention to detail, which goes outside the standard linear type RPG.

Also, the 16-bit graphics shined when I first played it. The opening cinemas just blew me away. Adding spectacular visuals with the great music in the game was the icing on the cake.

But what made VI the greatest? Kefka. The best villain in any Final Fantasy game. Kefka is the only villain that is the most realistic reflection of the evil in man. Throughout most of the game, he has no super abilities, no enhancements of any kind. He's just an evil man with an evil mind.

And the best Final Fantasy is...

And the best Final Fantasy game award goes toooooo......

Final Fantasy 9!

Reason?

NO PALETTE SWAPS!

That's right, each and every monster and boss in FF9 is original! No "pink version of the blue monster you fought a zone ago" nonsense, just pure originality!

-Note for prevent flame wars, I am not seriously saying that FF9 is the best (Even though to me it's my favourite), I'm just remarking on the fact that FF9 is the only one without palette swaps of monsters. It demonstrates to me the amount of effort they put into that game.-

Final Fantasy VI! (Also known as III for the SNES)

WARNING: SOME MINOR SPOILERS BELOW

The amazing storyline and great characters really made the game something to remember. Having the ability to collect Espers and then learn magic from them was a really fun task in the game, and there wasn't really anything bad about it. The World of Balance and World of Ruin was an interesting element of FF VI. Also, FF VI was the first game to have Ultima Weapon! A staple to the FF series. What's wrong with this game? That's right, nothing (next to the naming confusion), thus, making it the best.

Well for the characters and their story I prefer FFVI, if I have to examine the final I can choose FFIX, but the game that involved me more was FFVIII, the first FF I have played. The thing that hit me about FFVIII is the theme of Time, then Ultimecia and mysteries around her.

FFXII was a great one :)

Mod Edit: Try and put in a bit more effort into your post please. Some reasons to go with why you think FFXII is the best wouldn't go amiss, otherwise this would just be classed as spam. Thank you. =]

How did my thread about Palette Swaps end up in here... I clearly marked that it wasn't serious and was a thread about discussing them. Pay more attention.

Regardless, FFIX is the best anyway.

Mod Edit: In that case, I apologise, though the actual topic was not very clearly indicated. Feel free to PM me instead if you disagree with a decision rather than posting it publicly. =]

I that Final Fantasy 8 is the best.

The battle system is the most original, the story is interesting, the characters are realistic, and I love the love story aspect. Love stories aren't done nearly enough in games now days and FF8 had a rather good one.

The graphic are also amazing for the time, and represent the highest level Final Fantasy reached on the PS. I remember being stunned that the characters actually looked human.

VII is definately my fav. It was my very first Final Fantasy game that I got over 11 years ago and I instantly fell in love with the whole story, characters and gameplay of it. It still remains my fav game ever!

I'd say I enjoyed Final Fantasy VI the most. I liked the different characters I can sub in and out for battle (What is it? 11?). Kefka made me laugh, the story was engaging, and Ultros was swell. Terra is one of my favorite Final Fantasy characters of all time.

Oh, and Terra's theme is sick. I wish Mr. Uematsu threw in some 808s in there. On a side note, I get attached to games mainly through the soundtrack.

Interesting to see the majority have voted from VI - X, which are my favourites too.

I my mind always changes from between VI - X. Currently I am very interested in IX and would love to replay it. Vivi's story is so sad and engaging.
