Even though I never heard the song in-game because I never really finished it, my favorite from IX is Vamo' alla Flamenco.

After looking it up I found it's the music you hear when playing Chocobo Hot and Cold.
Not to good with music names of FFIX but My fave is the World Map music, yknow the one heard from the beginning until you get back from Terra, Also the Lindblum castle theme, it has a very Regal tone.
I always liked the Gizmaluke's Grotto and Burmecia themes. They were awesome. Garland's pandemonium theme was also pretty epic. Plus Beatrix's battle theme, Wavering Blade.. I pretty much liked it all_
My favourite soundtrack, so many highlights - it's bookended by The Place I'll Return to Someday and Melodies of Life, both fantastic. I also love Over the Hill (my favourite world map theme in the series), Eiko's Theme and especially You Are Not Alone, a perfect accompaniment to one of the best bits in the game.
I'd probably say that i liked Rose of May/Loss of Me and Unforgettable Silhouette/Freya's Theme? As like overall favorites, and the piano collection versions are especially good, also Feel My Blade is a great kinda blood pumping song and vamo 'alla flamenco is well, different (I'm currently learning it on guitar). I also lived The place i'll return to someday, dark messenger and of course Melodies of Life (in its many remixed form) but pretty much all IX music is good
well just the piano version dangit so that doesn't count ><
I absolutely LOVE all of beatrix's themes, mostly because beatrix is such an amazing character. Rose of May is sorrowful and beautiful. *tear*
I definitely like freya's theme as well for the same reason
the place I'll return to someday, though repetitive, is the song I immediately think of when I think FFIX. Something about it is so enticing and almost mysterious... and makes you wonder.. where is my true home?
Ambush attack is beastly! And Kuja's theme as well as Zorn and Thorn's theme. I love evil and treacherous music. >8D BWAHAHAHARDYHAR o.o
For me, the FFIX Soundtrack has three standout songs.
Rose Of May - The piano version, in particular, is stunningly beautiful. I love how Beatrix, such an outwardly strong character, has such a delicate theme. It's used so sparingly in the game, but when it is used, it's really effective and powerful. It's such a pretty piece too.
You Are Not Alone - This is another really powerful piece, and it's used to a really great effect in the game, it makes the scene all the more emotional. The piano version sounds amazing too, and it's incredibly catchy.
The Dark Messenger - The music in FFIX is great at making you feel a certain way, or being associated with certain things, and this music is the perfect "bad guy" music, it sounds great and it's a theme worthy of a villain.
There are other great songs, but those are the three that come to my mind first when I think of FFIX.
I'm pretty much going to ignore that all the battle themes exist, because I'd choose them all
My favorite theme is A Place I'll Return to Someday, and favorite arrangement of it is Terra. It went with the odd landscape and blue light of Terra. It was composed with the perfect instruments too~ I think the overall theme is the most nostalgic of the series for me
I also love I Want To Be Your Canary theme and Burmecia's music. The instruments of Burmecia's BGM go sooo well with the chord changes. It was a great arrangement for a rainy, destroyed city. It really makes you sad to walk around the city with this song playing the background
Aaand, I think the best character theme goes to Beatrix. It's amazing how Beatrix's theme can show what a fearsome warrior she is but also show she has great determination and personal issues. I can't think of many themes off the top of my head that can create such different moods just by arrangement.
It's hard to pick a few that stand out to me, I really love the soundtrack as whole!!
Some of my favorite Final Fantasy songs ever are off of this soundtrack. I would have to say that the songs that made a lasting impression on me from this soundtrack were Vamo Alle' Flamenco, Daguerro's Library, and You Are Not Alone. I found that these three songs seemed to have the most, how do I put it, emotion in the design of the songs. It sounded like emotion was poured onto paper to make all of these songs. I enjoy a good talented musician/composer, but when the emotion is added, the song becomes magic.
Vamo Alle' Flamenco I have a special place in my heart for because it was one of the main reasons I decided to learn guitar (aside from Chrono Cross' Scars of Time), so I owe my guitar skill partially to it. I just love music that makes me feel misty eyed and these songs do it for me.
I'm not a huge fan of FFX, but I liked the music alot. FF9 was easy on the ears to, like Garlands theme but the FF music I love the most is between 8 and 12.
I loved the music in general as a whole, mainly because Uematsu handled the whole OST, and I believe to this date it has the most music he has ever had to do in a single release of a OST. Definite favourite is You are not alone, just a strong piece not overly used like some were during the game, and had a nice fluency about it. Uematsu did the OST for FFXIV for anyone interested, has 72 songs on it, very good music.
