best music in game?

The place i'll return to someday is really good i remember when i was playing ix i always stop at the title screen because of this piece lol
 
You Are Not Alone is really great. I LOVE Kate-The-Great's interpretation of the song on youtube. I think all of the music in this game is good and I actually whistle the Dali Village song all the time. :D

Thanks for recommending that cover, I youtube'd it out of curiosity and it was pretty amazing. I've always loved Not Alone, not only as a piece, but also because of the significance of the part of the story that it is unique to.
 
Ahh, I particularly LOVE Dark Messenger, Boss Battle theme, Mystery Sword, Protecting my Devotion and You're Not Alone. I just can't pick one out of these five.
 
Unforgettable Face, Eternal Harvest, Freya's Theme, Burmecia Kingdom, Loss of Me and Stiener's Teme (Which I cannot listen to without hearing CLANGCLANGCLANGCLANGCLANG running in my head =P )
 
I'm a real sucker for final boss battle themes. I sure like Dark Messenger and I think the riff is awesome. So the final battle with Kuja felt pretty epic. But DAMN when the real final battle begun and the theme started (Grand Cross) it blew my mind! Even though
Necron
feels a little "off" I still enjoyed my unbelievable battle against it and so Grand Cross instantly became one of my favourite tunes from the series.
 
One thing I've noticed about the FFIX OST in general is that the scores are so good that even a lot of the lesser ones are still decent to listen to, which you can't say for each game. I put the different discs' set list on my I-Pod recently and found myself having a hard time deleting the ones I don't even like. It's quite impressive.

My favorite three tracks, however, are easily the following:
1. The Place I'll Return To Someday: Beautiful, calming, harmonic...
2. Battle Theme 1: Talk about your adrenaline burst
3. Crossing Those Hills; World Map Theme #1: It's another calming piece, and there's something intricate about the music as well. I love it.

Lucky for me those are 3 of the main tracks, so I get to hear them a lot.
 
I absolutely adore The City That Never Sleeps, it cheers me up whenever I hear it. I think I had it as my ringtone as a while- with Vallo Alla Flamenco as my wake-up alarm. There are some really good pieces in this game
