Treasure Hunt!
Long ago an island vanished into a mysterious mist, taking its secrets with it. History forgot it. Most people are ignorant of its existence. Those few who believed the rumours of its return and sought their fortunes either returned poor and disappointed, or they didn’t return at all.
FFF has received an anonymous letter revealing the location of the island to us for the first time!
Read the letter here:
We followed our anonymous tip and located the island. We’ve surveyed the area and produced a map of the island to the best of our abilities.

We now need volunteers to help us excavate the island and uncover its secrets. How should we do that? Chocobos!
Yes, it is known that chocobos are every treasure-hunting pseudo-archaeologist’s best friend.
Each of you may select your own personalised chocobo to take with you to the island and dig for treasure and secrets by selecting coordinates on the map. If the square you select holds treasure then it shall be yours! It’s really very simple. The player who collects the most valuable items shall be declared the winner.
This game might seem daunting at first, but it is actually very simple and requires a minimum of effort. Please expand and follow the following sets of rules to help you in this game.

The winner of the FFF treasure hunt shall be the player whose chocobo has amassed the greatest value in wealth. This is NOT the player who collects the largest amount of treasure, but the player whose total value of collected treasure is worth more.

Dear FFF,
Congratulations on the 10[SUP]th[/SUP] anniversary, kupo! I offer your members a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as reward!
You may have heard about that island from long ago which vanished, kupo! History forgot it, kupo! Well, I know where it is, kupo!
Sail 2,000 kuponautical miles south from the land of our creators, kupo! Then sail south-east 1,000 kuponautical miles, and west another 500 kuponautical miles, kupo! Don’t get lost!
I lost something dear to me on this island, kupo! I can’t tell you who I am or what it is, but you might seek your fortune, kupo!
Yours sincerely,
A mysteriously anonymous friend, kupo!

Designing your chocobo:
Please follow this simple template for designing your chocobo:
Name:
Feather colour:
Beak colour:
Leg colour:
Additional details: (make your chocobo stand out!)
-
For example, someone might be inclined to post the following:
Name: Uniboko.
Feather colour: Pink.
Beak colour: Purple.
Leg colour: Purple.
Additional details: Please put a unicorn horn on my chocobo, kthnx!
I will then produce the image of the chocobo as such:
And a miniscule version of the image will be placed on the map in the coordinates the player selects for each turn. For this example, the player who owns Uniboko has selected L, 12.

Rules of the game:
Rules about your turns:
Write the coordinates for all of your turns with the alphabetic character followed by the number. For example you might write ‘My chocobo digs at A,1’. That would make the chocobo dig in the top left corner of the map.
You may only dig once until the host (Dionysos) updates the map. Since chocobos do get tired, each player can have 5 turns (as a default). Excavated items may affect this (see 'Finds rules').
Your first dig location can be anywhere on the map. After that you can only pick a grid-square up to 10 squares away from your most recent digging location. Any movement can be horizontal, vertical, diagonal, or a combination.
Some of the squares on the grid cover water. Since chocobos are not marine animals adapted for an aquatic lifestyle, if you really want to plunge into the water, make sure that you don’t do it for more than one turn at a time. If you take two consecutive water dives your chocobo will drown. Return to land for your next turn.
If there is any land on the square then it counts as a land square, even if the majority of the square is water.
Anyone can join at any time. There is no cut-off point for treasure-hunters. However, the early bird gets the worm. The earlier you join the higher your chances for finding the best treasure before other players.

Rules about your chocobo:
Only one chocobo per player. If your chocobo dies, mourn it and attend its funeral if you wish but your time on the island is up.
Do not request rude and vulgar designs for your chocobo. Such requests will be ignored.

Finds rules:
There are two types of finds: treasure and traps.
Treasure finds have value, and their worth in Gil shall be revealed upon discovery. Some treasure items are worth more than others.
A list of excavated items collected by each chocobo will be updated in a post in the game thread in a format resembling this:
Chocobo: Uniboko.
Carved idol = 1,000 Gil.
Monkey dung = 1 Gil.
Total value = 1,001 Gil.
Some finds can affect a chocobo’s energy (represented by the number of turns a player can take during the course of the game). All chocobos begin with a default of 5 possible turns. Some excavated treasures might grant a chocobo increased energy, and more turns might be granted as a result. Other finds, the traps, might take a chocobo’s energy away and reduce the number of turns a player can take! The properties of each excavated item shall be revealed by the host upon discovery.
Note: Some items are valuable because of the information they offer has historical importance. If you find historical information about what the island is, etc, then you also get points.
Want another turn? Fancy yourself a gambler? You can trade Gil to buy chocobo feed if you wish. 500 Gil will grant your chocobo 1 extra turn. 1,000 Gil will grant your chocobo 2 extra turns. However, this will decrease your total Gil so be sure that you really want to risk it first. Only Gil collected in item value while playing this game can be used in this way. You cannot use Forum Gil in this game.

Buying Turns:
If your chocobo has spent all of his energy (turns) and you are out of the game, fear not! There are a couple of ways to get more turns and return to the game.
1) Purchase chocobo-feed. You can buy chocobo-feed for 500 Gil (1 turn granted) or 1,000 Gil (2 turns granted). This is not forum Gil, but the Gil you have collected in item value while playing this game.
2) Recruit a friend. Simply ask a friend to register a chocobo (point them to the sign-up thread:http://www.finalfantasyforums.net/th...cussion-thread). Get them to say that you convinced them and your chocobo will be granted 2 new turns! You may even help them come up with an idea for their chocobo if they are unsure about it.
