"I don't recommend having one of these guys as a trial witness. Everything they say is alpaca lies and they'll happily pull the wool over your eyes." - Six

No one likes being at court. The defendant certainly hates going to court. The plaintiff likely hates going to court too if their legal team isn't up to scratch. Not even lawyers like going to court; it's tense, hard work and riddled with formal procedures. Jurors have to be dragged to court against their will to go waist-deep into a trial that can last forever. Judges don't fancy going to court either, because they're too busy dreaming about upcoming retirement plans. You know who absolutely despises going to court more than anyone else? The stenographer. Let's all prepare a toast for the stenographers who have perhaps the most thankless job of anyone in court.

Why am I talking about going to court? Because I'm suing you.

No, it's because that's the theme for this year's Birthweek writing event! Completely not inspired by anything happening on the news these last six weeks or so. No siree!

  • Write a short courtroom drama tale. Don't know how court procedures and trials work in real life? Don't worry. Nor does anyone in Hollywood until they're the subject of a lawsuit.
  • Your story must have Final Fantasy characters and/or Final Fantasy Forums members. You can for example have the cast of Final Fantasy X sue Linnaete for not being a fan of the game. You're wasting your time though, because I'm not paying any damages. :mokken:
  • The word limit is 2,000 words. I bumped the usual upper word count limit up by 500 in case anyone REALLY wants to make their courtroom drama feel as long as an actual trial in real life.
  • Submit your entry to me either by PMs here or on Discord (Linnaete for both). Ideally send me a link to a Google Docs page or something.
  • You have until the end of this month to get your entry in. I reserve the right to slap on a concrete deadline at a later time.

There are no explicit rules about spoilers. If there is something particularly egregious in an entry, I can simply insert a spoiler warning later on when all entries I receive are put up for voting in a separate thread.
