Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Getting an Online Challenge Mode, More Artwork Released

There are less than three days remaining in the fundraising campaign for Koji Igarashi’s Bloodstained and things are getting heated.

At the time of this writing the Kickstarter campaign for the game has reached $3,977,075, which when combined with the more than $100,000 in Paypal donations clears the $4,000,000 stretch goal: an online challenge mode, in which you’ll presumably compete with other players for the highest score. The next goal unlocks a third playable character and will be met at $4,250,000.

The backer exclusive boss has been revealed and it will be some twisted form of Koji Igarashi himself, as illustrated below:

He won’t look like that—not even a little like that—but we had Kari Fry create this remarkable artist’s depiction for a reason. That backer-exclusive boss? It will be IGA.
There’s also art of Miriam brandishing the Clan Katana, a weapon chosen by fans:

This sword is promised to be one of the best weapons in the game and unlocking the weapon will be a challenging undertaking. This game gets more exciting by the day! The Kickstarter for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night ends in 57 hours.

I'm super excited for this game. It looks like both a great work of art and a lot of actual fun to play!

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night’s Final Stretch Goal Is Procedurally-Generated Dungeons

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has crossed $4.2 million in Kickstarter and PayPal contributions, and as a result the game is going to have a bunch of new features added to it. Here’s the list of features you can expect:

A third playable character
Orchestrated music
New Game+ with harder enemies and new attack patterns
Online challenge mode with versus and co-op modes

Additionally, project lead Koji Igarashi has revealed the game’s final stretch goal, which will be achieved at $5 million: procedurally-generated roguelike dungeons. Here’s how this feature is described:

In this mode you’ll face a new castle every time, braving its treacherous (and massive) halls for loot, glory, and the simple, satisfying feeling of going where no Miriam has gone before. Once you’ve explored its passages and defeated its boss, you’ll get a code that will enable you to share your randomly generated dungeon with a friend.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is in development for PC, Xbox One, Wii U, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita. Igarashi recently discussed the game’s main character, Miriam, with us, and you can read that interview here.
