So, I was playing FFX today and realized that Braska was not the only one to defeat sin and bring a calm to the world of Spira. So, why is it that he is so famous and popular among every other summoner? Maybe it is because I've not played in a while and forgot but it kinda dawned on me that he did the exact same as the one's before him so why is he so special? Did he do something amazing that I totally have forgotten? Anyone....?

I'm not so sure either, though my conjecture would be that he was the latest Summoner to bring about the Calm, so perhaps, his fame and popularity would be greater than the previous Summoners. (It's just a guess though. May not be accurate.)

That indeed is a good question. And I honestly have no idea as to why hes the only one that is 'famous' Maybe because he was the only one who defeated him recently and successfully? XD maybe he made good friends with the people in Spira? What about the moviespheres? do you think that could have something to do with it? Just a few thoughts xD

Because Braska defeated Sin only ten years before the game begins, Ohalland et al defeated Sin over 100 years ago. Also I don't think he was any more revered than any of the other high summoners. Possibly he is even slightly less so because he was married to an Al Bhed.

Plus I think they mentioned in the game that his was the shortest Calm, lasting only ten years. :hmmm:

And I agree a lot of it is probably because he's the most recent summoner to bring about a Calm. He's famous during the game's time-period but he probably wouldn't be as well-remembered in the future, except maybe for being Yuna's father. xD

For the same reason Brett Favre is more famous than Bart Star. He's more recent. Virtually every one in the game was alive when Braska killed Sin.

Hell, one could argue that if you ignored stats and looked at only storyline, Omega is stronger than Sin, (By the fact that he was able to not only defy Yevon and it's teachings, but do so at such a large degree compared to the Al Bhed, that Yevon used military force to remove him almost permanently) but he's not even mentioned except when you actually go to his under ground cave.

PS: And yes, I consider massive military and political force against one man to mean more than a group of people who clearly were capable of recovering from some radical Yevonites.

I'm inclined to agree with this. He was the last summoner to defeat Sin, and it was in the lifetime of most people on Spira, so he's BOUND to be talked about more than the other Summoners

Because Braska was the most recent person to defeat Sin in the game's timeline, just like Yuna becomes as famous in X-2. Lady Yunalesca is kind of famous, too, as she was the first summoner to defeat Sin.

It could just be that he appears more famous because Yuna was his daughter, and everyone was comparing her to him? That's the way I thought of it, cause she was Lord Braska's daughter, and she was trying to do the same thing as her dad, so people mentioned it to her all the time.

Although, I'd also agree with the most-recent-person-to-defeat-sin, thing, since he was alive in most people's living memory.

I always thought that it was because he was the last one to defeat Sin- the one that brought the calm before Sin's current incarnation. He's the most recent so he's the one that people aspire to be like

Yeah it's like everyone else is saying, it's because he was the most recent summoner to bring the calm, and also the outrage of marrying an Al-Bhed and having a daughter with her. Also probably because of Jecht too? He was taken from prison and people were probably shocked by that as well.

Braska was simply the most recent to do it. A lot of people would remember when he defeated Sin and owe him some personal gratitude. The others would be more like historical figures or legends. Most people would recognize their names, but they wouldn't really mean anything to them.
