Britney Spears VS Lady Gaga - Who's the True Pop Princess

Pop Princess is...?

I prefer Lady Gaga as a singer and performer over Britney, but I would have to give the title to Ms Spears. She has been around since the last 90's and has revolutionized the way Pop Princess' perform. She (well, maybe Madonna) was the one who broke the shell of innocent little girls dancing around an singing so nicely.. and took it to a a higher, risque level. Some can argue she took it to a slutty level, but I would just agree with her song and just say that she wasn't a girl anymore.

Maybe give Gaga ten more years to earn the same sort of notoriety as Britney, but you had to admit... Britney's gone through break ups, mental break downs, babies, come backs and she's still making hits.

My thoughts too!
Didn't Gaga write music for Britt? So I mean...wouldn't that make her the better one?

Kind of like saying Gaga was living vicariously through Britt back in the 90's...
Besides, the only song Gaga wrote for Brit is "Quicksand" :mokken:

I voted for both.

I love both of these girls. I listen to both of them and can't choose which one I prefer more and don't want to.

Britney has been around for longer but Gaga feels like she's been around for just as long. >.< It's strange.
Good answer. :ryan:

Britney Nuff Said :mokken:

Despite my sig animation, I have to say Britney, I mean its friggin Britney Spears whom for the pun "Oops I did it again" we as a people have to thank.

~ And created the legendary pop pairing Justin x Britney :ohshit:

Lady Gaga needs to be around for at least more than 5-10 years to earn the title Princess or Queen. Plus Britney started the girls kissing girls thing...in music I mean.

But I love both :wacky:

I like both Britney Spears and Lady Gaga, basically because they make catchy pop music. They are both marmite artists and not to everyones tastes. Lady Gaga wears all the crazy outfits and has the fan base of... what she calls "Monsters" and Britney has had some bad press history. If we're talking about performing live, Lady Gaga puts on a great show, and has good vocals, sometimes it's a bit slippy and Britney, I'm not sure, she's put on a great show too, just I'm not sure about her vocals, I've heard she mimes quite a lot, but she is a great dancer. They both are, but I'd say Britney is the pop princess, because she has been around longer and had much more sales.

No Ayu or even Kylie?

I have to pick Britney. Gaga's been around two years, it's not hard to be successful for two years. If that's all you had to do, then Miley Cyrus would be already be the queen of pop, wouldn't she?

I don't like Britney that much, and I don't think she changed the face of pop (that was Madonna) but she did follow along with what M started. And she sold really well. Honestly, there's no way that Gaga will sell as well.

Gaga is just so over rated at the moment (admit it). Everyone thinks she's mega orginal, and that are lyrics are just great, and they aren't. That doesn't mean they wouldn't be. It just means they aren't now. One day I may feel like someone who took Madonna (the album and not the singer) and looked down at an icon, but until she proves that she can last longer than she has, I'm not going to. She's earned and done nothing yet. Her trials are just starting.

Brittany is a legand, Lady gaga may be big now but she will never be the singer that Brittany was. Gaga hasn't even been around long enough to earn a title like that.

My personal opinion, is that Gaga is overrated. Overrated by the people saying "Oh she's awesome, she's so talented and better than oh, just like, everyone!!!!!." The girl can sing, and she has a weird twist on fashion, which can be seen as original or retarded, however, for me it has to be B.

I'm not a fan of either, don't get me wrong.

Amen.

Just because someone can write, doesn't mean they're good, and it definitely doesn't make someone better.

^^THIS!

To be honest, I think Britney ruined her reputation, but she still shits all over Gaga. Brit knows how to be successful, and she's been around for so much longer. I used to listen to her music all the time, and she was a massive inspiration to my sis (because back when she was really good, I was like, 5) I don't like Gaga, she's too wierd and quirky for me, and she really just doesn't do it for me. Sorry to offend but Brit is better =)

Neither, I have to agree with Bez on that one. Lady Gaga is an overrated slut, yes you heard me, she's a skank a--oh I'm joking. She is overrated though. Honestly, she hasn't revolutionized much of anything. For one thing, she's only been in the mainstream for two years, that's hardly enough time to build anything up substantial, talent wise, which honestly she severely lacks. I could dress up in shitty loud clothing and sing about "dancing on your disco stick" AND I could get someone to make crappy generic club beats to back it up too. What now Lady Bitch? Uh!

Case in point: she was tolerable when she released THE FAME and generated a sudden amount of gossip and interest when she put out Po-po-po-Pokerface. Or just Pokerface, whatever. Now however she's evolved into some annoying fucking Madonna wannabe. Did anyone note how annoyingly gimmicky her videos have become? Alejandro and fucking Telephone with all of the "ooh deep imagery and symbolism and artistry." Shit's been done before by a woman named Madonna and guess what? She pulled it off a bajillion times better.

Britney ah Britney . . . the only thing she and I have in common, sort of . . . is that her first name is my middle name. Anyway, I didn't like her as an eight year old and I still don't like her now. Any "vocalist" that insists on singing like some distorted strange Barbie doll/baby hybrid only to generate millions with lackluster forgettable lyrics and equally lackluster choreohraphy (this doesn't count the shit-taster that was her VMA performance) is not worthy of the pop princess title.

Kylie Minogue and Madonna would give and actually DO give both of those girls a run for their money in every aspect of what makes an entertainer . . . an entertainer. My cases for these lovely pop queens, they're more than princesses at this point you see, is this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_awards_received_by_Madonna

. . . And because I can't forget about (IMHO, if you don't like it, then suck it . . . or not, whatever) the far more talented and infectious artist, Miss Minogue . . .

I just wanted you to see how many albums hit platinum and stuff. Yeah, they can both suck on Kylie and Madonna's big fat accolades. Yup. Kylie just needs to come over to the good ol' USA and knock them dead personally. At a concert. A very big one.

I definitely agree there, I mean I like Lady Gaga and I respect her work and everything she stands for but, Britney has the rep :busta:

This.

Good points all around and kudos for bringing Kylie back into it.

Personally; I think Britney's dragged herself through far too much mud to claim the title (and before people mention that Michael Jackson's personal life was equally if not moreso weird, let me point out that he was widely referred to as the King of Pop well before all that.) and Lady Gaga (while one of the few pop artists I actually don't mind) feels like she's moving too fast at this point. She's had god knows how many singles/videos already and at this rate it feels like she's going to burn out.
