hi
i thougt, after battling sephiroth, is the bustersword better or the masamune?
when i saw the masamune in advent children i thougt:holyshit: what a f*cking long blade!!
but the buster sword is one of the icons of FFVII
and i wand to know your opinion!:ryan:

Hehe, you again :monster:

I'd say the Buster Sword. Far more iconic and so unwieldly! Quite remarkable how he manages to swing it around without snapping his wrists xD.

The Masamune is cool though, That's some length and it suits Sephiroths flowing silver hair. The only problem is it doesn't have a unique name. Drop the name Masamune outside this thread and you could be speaking about Auron. Even worse, drop it outside the forum and you could be speaking about the historic swordsmith.

The Buster Sword for me.

I liked the way it looked in Crisis Core. It looked as though it had so much purpose and looked as though it was not to be trifled with. It has a very simple, yet awe aspiring look to it and it represented a lot to Angeal and Zack. And the proficiency that Cloud and Zack wielded it, although it was illogical, was still cool all the same.

The Masamune is a cool sword, though. The legend behind it is very interesting. The fact that Aerith did not bleed when
He stabbed her with it [/quote] showed that it is a sword so sharp, that it doesn't even draw blood, which is awesome.

Heres a tie breaker, FF7 Stats:

Buster Sword

Materia Slots: 0=0
Growth: Normal
Attack: 18
Magic: 4
Hit Rate: 98

Masamune

Materia Slots: 0=0 0=0 0=0
Growth: None
Attack: 99
Magic: 0
Hit Rate: 255 (max)
Perk: Every attack is a critical hit. = Awesome -__-

Clearly only one winner in this respect. Unless that is, you're going for materia growth xD

Also during
Aeris'
death scene,
Aeris
is stabbed through the chest, but doesn't bleed. This is probably due to the fact that graphics at the time would have made the blood look goofy. However, in Final Fantasy: Last Order, when Zack and Cloud are cut by Sephiroth's sword, they both bleed profusely.. :hmmm:

Buster Sword for me.
I don't know, i just simply adore it. I think it has a symbolic meaning. the burden that Cloud needs to carry, like the burden of the pain or the burden of responsibility.
The design is pretty simple, which makes me like it even more. the Masamune is like.... really long.....
XD
But don't think that I don't like the Masamune!!! It is very cool indeed! :)
I just prefer the buster sword x3

Meh, First Tsurugi for me, but that isnt an option.

I pefer the Buster Sword. Length is good, but too much and then it looks....odd. Buster Sword is the right length and it being massive just gives it a seemingly more reliable feel. Although utterly and entirely stupid, i dont know why, but i always get a sense that he masamune would snap when hit with the Buster Sword. Maybe im still tethered too much to reality?

Yeah I get that feeling too. Even if it didn't, I'd feel as if it would buckle under the weight of the Buster Sword.

But then suspending realism is the only way you'd be able to wield either.

Yeah. I mean look how damn thick that thing is in Crisis core. And thats not some cheapo cosply thing. Its a real bloody combat ready, killed people already, metal sword (well in that universe in any case). If Zack had leaned it against the wall and it falls over onto an animal, id say chances are that thing is dead, not to mention that it could potentially just fall through the floor with its damn weight.

But you gotta admit, whereas the Buster Sword has macho and manliness, and to be fair, the poor man's sword, the masamune is pretty slick and elegant, the rich guys sword. Total opposites. Just swinging the masamune around instantly makes you feel like a total badass evil guy..

The Masamune does scream finesse.. :hmmm: Suits Seph down to a tee.

Whereas the Buster Sword is riddled with bullet marks and is a huge, unforgiving bulk of ruthlessness.

I abolutely adore both swords but both suit their owners really well.
Like, I can't imagine Cloud holding the Masamune and I can't imagine Sephy holding the Bustersword.
The Masamune looks proper elegant and...clean? I suppose whereas, like Harlequin said, the Bustersword is a huge, unforgiving bulk of ruthlessness.

The Masamune, no contest.

Not only because it looks much more realistic, but because it's -legendary-. Whereas, you dumped the Buster Sword off before you even left Midgar.

Yeah that's definately a point that irked me about the Buster Sword. Not that I sold it, just that it became so obsolete.

I suppose they could have remedied the situation by employing an upgrade system like 13.

Maybe in a remake eh? Shh...

Yeah. It became hyped as this legendary weapon after VII was made, however it was far from legendary. It just happened to represent the bond between Zack (of whom is much cooler than Cloud) and Cloud. Sentimental value, that's all.

Oh damn.. It's hard for me to choose. But I'd have to say the buster sword. It looks so damn cool, and Cloud looks pretty badass with it. But then again, Sephiroth looks badass w/ his Masamune.. xD :srsly:

But the buster sword was originally Angeal's, then Zack's, then Cloud's, so it kinda has some history behind it. (Trying to make sense here.)

my oppinion

hi everybody and thanks to you all for your replys.
i will now give you a y my own opinion.

first the ups and downs for the buster sword:cloud:
ups:
1 - its THE icon of final fantasy VII
2 - it looks rather cool:sup:
3 - when cloud is able to wield it, he must be very strong because it f*cking heavy
4 - its souts cloud very good
5 - it has quiet a history, as they mentioned
downs:
1 - the buster sword in the game has 2 materia slots, the masamune has 6
2 - like is sad its f*cking heavy, when you hit someone with the flat side on the had, it would still kill somebody do his weight

now the ups and downs of the masamune(sorry no picture of sephiroth)
ups:
1 - its a very elegant weapon souts sephiroth good to
2 - he can fight with it f*cking fast
3 - it has 6 materia slots and 255 attack
4 - its damn sharp, it can penatrate cloud very easy as you saw in crisis core and advent children
5 - its damn long
downs:
1 - it has no materia growth
2 - noone other than sephiroth can handle it

so this were my opinions
and my final dissision is definetly the buster sword
and sorry when my ebglish is a little rubbish, i`m dutch

I love both swords. They're equally cool. But Cloud's Buster Sword is better IMO. I've always been a fan of Cloud and his weaponry. And I don't care what anyone says, Cloud makes the Buster Sword cool.

Lol! Inorite?
Like everyone has already said, both swords are great and suits their owners well, but the Buster Sword gets my vote. For some reason, I like how rugged and bulky it looks. That makes it look unique.XD

CAN I GO WITH THE HARDEDGE INSTEAD? (It just looks awesome.)

But I guess if I had to pick... I'd go with the Buster Sword asthetically and the Masamune if we're talking about battling.

But I guess both swords seem really unrealistic when you're talking about fighting. Cloud must have some kind of insane upper-body strength and Sephiroth would just need some serious dexterity to even be able to accurately swing a sword that long. lol

Masamune for me.

If you sit and think about it logically for too long, you realise that the Buster Sword would probably be very, very heavy. If you consider its in-game capabilities, then it definately sucks. It can't be ignored however that it is indeed the icon that represents FFVII, and it does look cool on Cloud.

It would have been great if Bugenhagen takes it from you on disc 1, and returns it on disc 2 during the compulsory story sequences, this time with a few more materia slots and a better strength stat after remodelling.
