Which FF should I buy for the Nintendo DS? I already own FFIII and I am between FFCC and FFXII RW for the DS. I like traditional FF, like FFX or FFVIII, so I don't think that FF Tactics A2 would be the right choice... And I haven't finished FFIII so I think that I shouldn't buy FFIV, since it's almost the same thing, isn't it?

Which do you think is better and why?

Thanks a lot for the help!!!:P

If you're looking for traditional FF, I wouldn't go for RW as it's quite different from what I've seen and heard. You have to tap the screen to move, and the battle system is very different. CC looks closer to III, but I'm guessing the battle system is similar to that in CC on the Gamecube which certainly wasn't similar.

If you live in the UK, go to Game! :P You can get them both in a buy one get one free deal! :P I'd do that myself, but I'm a bit deterred from them both.

Also, I hope you intend to become a proper member here and didn't join JUST to make this thread. ;)

I wouldn't buy Revenant Wings if you haven't played XII yet. But if you have, it's a nice game.

I think IV would be a good choice. It seems to be quite good (from what I saw; trailers and stuff). But why not play III first and then decide? :3

And if you're still not sure: Try to read something about the games on this forums, there is more than enough about it. ^^

Give A2 a chance, maybe rent it, I don't know. I have FFTA, and from what I remember, you can have huge clans, make all sorts of different characters, collect an abundance of different weapons etc. Missions are good, although you may be a bit bored by the gameplay, it's worth going for A2, as I bet there have been plenty of advancements.

Only purchase RW if you liked XII. Simple as. It's not brilliant, it's a bit cheesy, but I guess it's good fun.

No idea about Ring of Fates, and as for IV, well, I do think it should be your next choice. Don't wait for the DS based version, unless you've played the original on another system. Because, it's better to play something which actually resembles the old game for the SNES.

Will it offer me anything more that FFIII can offer me? Because I am now playing FFIII and in fact I have started a new game.

You can play the traditional FFIV already. It's been released for the GBA. I'd recommend playing that version first. Kinda makes sense. The new one's probably far different then the original.

Well, this is the third incarnation of this thread of yours I've found in the various forums I run around on...I say FFIV DS. The main reason because it'll have added story elements that were originally taken out of the script. But it also looks better and has other added junk...it's currently only 16days, 7hours, 6min away...! ^_^

My brother has wrote the other 2-3 threads in other forums, not me. He is far younger and he likes to do things I do. I am active member only here!
Thanks for the reply, anyway!

Eh I'm sure I replied here....

Anyway, if you already have FFIII I suggest getting on with that first, it's a really good game, I enjoyed it, although it can get pretty hard, that last dungeon is a nightmare :gasp: Then get IV I guess

I really liked revenant Wings although it's not the traditional fighting style but quite alot of fun

I just find tactics too hard, I played it for about half an hour before I gave up on it

1) Is the story of FFXII RW good? I mean, is the story of FF RW like the story of traditional FF that keep you playing for hours (save the world/kingdom, love story between 2 characters, etc)?
2) Does FFXII RW use Espers in a good way? I mean will I say that they are like Aeons or Summuns or not? Or does it have a lot of Espers, just to be said SquareEnix put a lot of Espers?

RW isn't even an RPG really, it's an RTS. You'll be able to summon espers in battle, but they're mostly like generic units that fight in groups w/your main party. The story & character development, from what I've played, aren't bad (especially for an RTS...but to me, that's not saying much)...and from what I've heard, much better than XII (which I haven't played). It focuses on Vaan & Penelo.

Tactics? Hard? You should play Front Mission 4....:P I bet you'll pull your hair out.

You want to waste time, play FF4 (they change darkness effect to something stupid), it's exactly the same as the original...it's just a enhanced port....You'll just get sucked into the Final Fantasy remakes subgroups of people (as I did for Crisis Core, wasted my 60 dollars for a game that lasted 3 days).

Try final fantasy tactics A2, it's pretty new and is worth every minute of play time, if you don't believe me, check out the games on NDS emulators before buying it.

I think it's important to point out that Troy is talking about the GBA version. The DS version is a full-fledged remake.
