Then go with Hal's idea. Make it be buy able to be able to change your username every month or something. Or to take time off. Because three months is a long time to wait, just because I don't spam in post count areas.

the newer members will end up being able to name change pretty much all the time, i hardly ever post anymore, and the same can be said for a lot of the older members, and id probably never rack up the points to be able to change my name, ive already done all my posting.

And on another note, if we to buy social groups and privileges like larger avi blah blah, then why can't we buy something like this? I believe that larger avi was something that Veteran members got before anyway? And now it's purchasable.

As I have said before I do not think buying name changes is necessary. I am pretty sure members would just find a way to manipulate their points so they can keep getting name changes. I have stated this before in the other suggestions thread. I do not see a problem. Just take a username you like for awhile.

we still get the larger avi/sig space we dont need to buy them

but a name change is different, a member isnt instantly unrecognisable with a larger sig space, where as a new name every month they would just be another member half of us have fuck no idea who they are

But a member isn't instantly unrecongisable with a new username either. You can just run your mouse over and see their previous ones. Go to their profile page, etc etc.

I'm not saying make it allowed to spam them that's just stupidity. But sometimes you choose a username and you want to change it before 3 months, and I think that should be buy able. Maybe you can only buy it a certain number of times or something?

Sorry, not trying to say I didn't notice this thread. Though to be honest Mits just brought it to my attention.

Trust me before the site change overs we discussed this. We have chosen to exclude it as it is already an accustomed feature for FFF.

In the past FFF had themes in which we would change member names via request. Due to themes being quite too frequent, we went ahead with dissolving it. This will not be debated though, since this was already appealed/dealt with on several occasions.

The set rules will stay as is:

Staff - 30 Days
Vet - 60 Days
Full Members - 90
Junior - 120

If we apply a point application process it will actually start to become unfair, because we would have to apply the old rule logic with the point logic which just makes it harder for a name change for you.

We will not be able to grant a simple "I can change my name whenever I damn well feel like" Gift. It will also have to be applicable with the current rules.

So we will leave the current functionality along with not applying a gift for it. Otherwise you'll be using unneeded points for a feature that already exists. (Repetition for a reason)

I just don't see why you guys would want to spend points buying a feature that you already have the option for. I know there were suggestions that there should be a "limit" to this. So let's say we go for a 2-3 months limit and it costs 1000 points.

Well.

A) By 2-3 months, most of the active users here would be able to change their names anyway, without spending points.

B) It would be unfortunate to those who goes inactive for 2-3 months, only to come back and want a username change...but then, they would have to earn 1,000 points in order to purchase it. Wouldn't it be better if they could just go straight to their User CP and manually do it...again, without spending points?

My concept isn't that they are connected, but whether that it's whatever comes first.

For example, you just changed your username, now you have to wait 3 months. Is it not possible for you to be able to buy some time off of it? Like instead of waiting the full 3 months be able to buy the right to buy 1 or 2 instead?

Another example, you changed your username, went inactive, and then came back after three months. You would be able to change your username without points because you waited the full time.

I understand that might not be possible, but that was my thought.

URGH! The idea of buying name changes' scary!

Not only will we have to deal with possibly frequent name changes... We'll also be dealing with having to earn all that cash for a freaking name change?!

It wouldn't replace name changing. It just means if you desired to change your name after 1 and a hald months you could. You could still change your name in two months time if you so wished.
