Do you rather name your characters or keep the default names?

I'd rather keep the defaults in the game so that I won't get lost or anything. It's a lot better to keep their original names because it's unique and relates to the story. If I change the names I sometimes lose interest in the game. I would sometimes name them really FUNNY cool names lol. I remember naming Cloud my name, Barret my dad, and some other characters my family name lol.

I prefer keeping original names because it suits the game better and if you change the names and your talking to somebody about Final Fantasy you would be like "I loved the bit when Barrets Dad fought Cabbage and Cabbage killed Scarface" and no one will know what the hell your talking about!

I nonyl do it once or twice, for fun, then restart the game after a few lines. Once, I played half of the first disc with Aeris/th named "Spoon". I couldn't stop laughing, actually, I think I did get passed the first disc. Hilarious listening to cloud call her spoon when mourning her..

When I was younger, I used to rename my characters just for laughs. Now, I keep them at default. I find the game flows much better that way, or otherwise I get completely lost.

Hahah, I remeber my dad naming Cloud the name of my brother, for Barret, I don't remember, but after that, we restarted the game :/, anyways, I preffer the default names ;).
I just used "Original names" in FFVIII xDD.

Naming

I tend to sart a new game and name them the names i like but after a while I start another new game and keep the default names.
I like putting my name as the main Female character as it makes me feel part of the game and generaly I name the lead Male my current BF of the time.:P

I tend to rename most of the characters in the games because Square has been giving the characters very terrible names as of late. The older games weren't nearly as bad, but since my friends and I actually liked those games and we all had differing characters we liked "the most", I changed them to "us". The newer games, I would definately not subject my friends or myself to being the crappy characters from the games, so I just name them something different, but less...bad.

I usally keep default names but on 2nd time play i change their names to other game characters names
