CITV begins an "Old Skool" weekend to celebrate its 30th birthday

Children’s television channel CITV is presenting a retrospective "Old Skool" weekend as it celebrates its 30th birthday.

Today and Sunday, the channel is broadcasting a selection of its iconic shows including Fun House, Press Gang, Knightmare, The Raggy Dolls, Count Duckula, Art Attack and Children's Ward.

We are very proud of CITV’s heritage, and look forward to bringing back all the old favourites for this one-off, not to be missed event and show the kids what their parents watched when they were young!

Today's highlights

11.35am: Count Duckula

From Cosgrove Hall, Count Duckula was one of CITV’s best loved home-grown animations.


12.25pm: Art Attack

This art show, hosted by Neil Buchanan, ran for 19 series. Best remembered for the Big Art Attacks where Neil would create a big picture out of everyday materials.


1.30pm: Fun House

Pat Sharp hosted this messy soft-play game show, with two teams battling to avoid the gunge, answer all the questions and make it through to the Fun Run.


2pm: Knightmare

A real first in terms of gameshows using what was state of the art computer animation to bring to life a fantasy world.

Not only was it revolutionary in terms of graphics, but it was also one of the first gameshows where winning wasn’t easy. More often than not, teams were defeated.

Sunday Listings


11.15am: Rosie and Jim

Puppets Rosie and Jim would meander around the British countryside on a narrowboat, singing songs and rhymes as they went.


12pm: Sooty & Co

Matthew Corbett ran a shop in Manchester with the help of puppets Sooty, Sweep, Soo and Little Cousin Scampi.


2.30pm: Fraggle Rock

The puppet television show created by Jim Henson with the central characters being a set of 'Muppet' creatures called Fraggles.


4.30pm: Press Gang

A drama that gave us the likes of Julia Sawalaha, Dexter Fletcher, Lucy Benjamin and launched the writing career of Steven Moffat.

Over five years, it had some of the hardest hitting storylines on CITV.

Sotty and sweep I loved that as a kid and art attack Thats a show i would probably still watch today tbh.

Had me alot of Rosie and Jim VHS tapes when i was a kid too. John was the one and only boat driver. The others were all terrible

I remember fun house and how much i wanted to be on it when i was a kid it was the coolest looking game ever ; _ ;

I always preffered CBBC's cartoons but you couldnt beat a bit of ant, dec and cat deeley on SM:TV on a Saturday morning. Good times

I absolutely loved Rosie and Jim when I was young! I used to watch Art Attack, but I remember being kinda bored through most of it. It depended too much on a formula.

Disappointed there's no Watership Down! That was the best cartoon on CITV!
