Hi, First off im sorry if this in the wrong area, it is about FF1 and i read the Parties thread, but what i would like to no if there is a link or anything to the Pro's and Cons of the class's. i have the 1990 Nintendo Power Strategy Guide to help me even though its for the NES version, not any class info. and i can tell what the Red Mage is good for, but i was wondering about the Monks as well.

Right now i have 11 Hours into FF1 and my team is:

-Warrior ( Seems Soild and Good Damage and Armor most eveything hits him for 1-3 damage )

-Thief ( Hears my real Question What good is he? i figure he has good Hit %, but i dont see him hitting anymore or than my Warrior, his Damage is like 10 points more than the White mage with a hammer, IF he crits its ok damage like 50 less than the warrior, The Monsters seem to attack him Always and his Armor is Crap i spend most battles healing him, only thing i can think of that makes him useful is Flee %? which i only do when going to town all beat up, but most of the time he is dead and i fleee just fine.

-White Mage ( Great Debuffer Healer and Buffer, Heal 1 is about useless though, i use Hammers with her)

-Black Mage ( Damage monster !, and some nice Debuffs im not sire how good -10 Evasion is though at Lv 10+ )

All my Guys are Level 12 Right now ive just got Dwarf Nerrick to blow up the earth blocking my West travel.

Thanks for any Info.

aww ok, i'll use that thread for questions thank you, but for what i can tell the thief has higher % hit, but i dont see that much of a bonus, if i could redo it i would go anther warrior, i think

It seems as this question was asked a while ago, but I still answer the thing about thieves, as many other might be wondering about the same thing.

Thieves themselves are kind of crappy and even is awesome ability to run away more frequently, evade better and land more critital hits, he still sucks. But thief is worth during the end-game when you get a class update which makes your thief in to a ninja.
And well, I find ninja even better than an updated warrior or monk. Ninja has high accuracy, nice evade, really nice dmg and yet he is able to deal many critical hits. And also, he can use some black magic like boost.

As has been said, the Thief really shines after
the class change, which you can do pretty much right after the Earth Orb.
I used your same exact party, and it was a very enjoyable game. Some people opt to include a red mage in lieu of one of the two dedicated mages, but you lose spell variety in doing that. Also, some choose to use a monk instead of a thief, as this saves money in equipment costs, but if you are looking to have a powerful end game party I think you have constructed a great one!

Yes, definitly go to Final Fantasy Classic, It has everything there.

Someone else has already posted this and you're not really adding much to the topic, please try to contribute more in the future :3

Here's my learnings of the classes

Warrior - Great, and to most, a must have. Warriors have the best attack, defense, and in the end they learn some white mage spells. I like to think of them as paladins at that stage but they are called Knights I believe. The con about them is the weapons and armor are expensive. Sometimes you'll find yourself out side of a town fighting just to afford the gear.

Monk - Well in the beginning they are quite average. They are good after a while though. In fact, before you get the upgrade, you can take off all equipment and they will have a higher def and atk. Some say that they even beat the Warriors attack but thats probally at max level. I know when I leveled him up all the way he was what I called "break damage limit" but that was on the NES. Which the warrior never done for me. Also they are the cheapest class in the game. Cause like I said after so many levels the gear they use is useless. They do better without.

Thief - Ok, you know the gifs of it. I have never used the class. Might soon though.

Red mage - Well this is the all around class. Can attack decent, use some black magic and white magic, however it can never do better then the other classes that are made for it. Equip'ing warrior swords doesn't mean it will attack like one. They are weaker. Still its a nice add on and they are useful. It can not use that many level 8 spells and is shut short in the end.

Black mage - I good class if you like to use magic to cause damage. The only downfall is it is limited to how many times you can heavely damage your foes. If you limit yourself right you'll do fine, but if you find yourself with no magic in a boss fight or traveling back from a dungeon, you'll be cursing the black mage as he is not a great attack. He is though a better one then the white mage. Unlike the red mage he can learn some pretty good spells in the end.

White mage - Hardest Class to solo the game with (as in having 4 white mages). They are however the best healers, buffers, and in the end can use those powerful level 8 white mage spells that no other class can. Holy included which is one of the most powerful single damaging spells in the game.

I suggest having a Warrior, White mage, Black mage, Monk/thief. Red mages are good but in the end not as good as a well balance of other classes.

I have done a fair few FFI party types and I would have to say the best, for me, is Warrior, Theif, White Mage, Black Mage. Monk may seem better at first but later on I hated him so much, so very much...and Red Mages miss out on the best spells usually. Later on, after a certain event
job advancement with Bahamut
you will love thieves most likely.

Overall:
Warrior
Thief
White Made
Black Mage

Thieves are very useful later on
