The new Tekken tournament hosted by finalfantasyforums.net

Welcome to the official discussion thread for Final Fantasy Forums' first Tekken Tag 2 tournament. Participants are encouraged to hype this baby up :wacky:, discuss the rules, share any insights on the layout of this event and/or ask any questions regarding the procedure and set-up.

After the tournament is completed, feel free to return and post your feedback and share your experiences. This is a new tournament so everyone's input will be appreciated.

Thank you for your interest! Let's get this game on!

GO NUTS!!!!

Big Casino, Sprout, Paddy McGee, Dionysos, Dinglberry

You guys in?

I'm game, I just need to read the requirements stuff first before I sign up...

Oh, that reminds me! Obviously the seeding will be random for this event since it has no precedents.

And it will be a double elimination bracket....I should have probably put that in the registration thread. :dry:

The only time il have free to play will be satarday nights and Sundays. I still need a new ps3 controller too. I plannned to get that before CoD came out. Should be ok though when is it meant to happen?

Registration ends the 7th, Lew. Tournament should begin the next day, Saturday the 8th if everything goes over well!

No seeds hmm ok

Itll be really shit if i have to knock Big Casino out in the first round though!

Also Galadín, what does all that stream permission mean? I think I'm gonna have to have some of this explained

@Harlequin

As you know streams broadcast the matches live to our viewers. Some players don't like to be streamed live for various reasons so we are asking permission from our participants beforehand so that there aren't any misunderstandings later.

@Big Casino

As McGee stated the tournament will be starting on Saturday @ 8:00 PM. To make sure everyone who registered is available to play we ask that you turn up a half hour earlier so that we can keep your name on the bracket.

Absolutely. Players can request to be removed from the stream if they find it interfering with their connection.

Since some people have been wondering about how to fill in the registration form I've gone ahead and added an example form to the opening post of the sign-up thread.

I'm going to have to pass since I'm working on that day. 8PM there = 3PM here and I won't get off until 1.5 hours later. :sad3:

So maybe we could schedule your matches at 11pm GMT (6pm your time)?

Also I'm with lew as long as the stream doesn't lag my game I'm alright.

Can I also just say that the solo challenge isn't all that challenging. Solo fighters have twice the health of individual tagged fighters meaning a tag team can lose with 50% health still remaining (an untouched substitute) whereas a solo fighter can only lose once 100% of the teams health has been depleted (one fighter obviously). Also, tagged fighters need to switch out to regenerate health whereas solo fighters regenerate constantly. The only advantage tagged fighters have over solos is the ability to switch into combos.

Maybe we could make a range of challenges and pick one to go for from a list? Like most whitewashes (win every round), perfects, most characters used?

Thoughts?

I like the idea of offering a range of challenges, however, with many ideas (e.g. most perfects, whitewashes, etc.) we would need replay proof in order to either calculate the winner and/or circumvent disputes. With the removal of uploading replays directly to Youtube however the organisers would be left with no proof of accomplishment. This poses a big problem since not every match can be streamed nor can everyone record their own matches.

So maybe we could schedule your matches at 11pm GMT (6pm your time)?

Just as a point to all participants, there will be allowances for late arrivals (half-hour after tournament opens) however, after this point the bracket will have to go ahead since we have to be mindful of other players' time. If you feel that you will be late please PM one of the Tournament Organisers and we will either move you to the Losers' Bracket or call for a short delay for your matches depending on how late you think you'll be. This is a weekend event so there will be no call for scheduling due to it being a short tournament.

I'm probably gonna be working that day. I might be late >.<

Also I'm pretty terrible at this game. I only play it for the costumes. Mercy please :sad2:

Exoskeleton

How late do you think you might be? If it is an hour or so, you should still join and we'll see what we can do.
