Cloud is my favorite character, because FF7 was my favorite out of 7,9 and X. I enjoyed all three but I have to go with Cloud on this one.

i am going to say cloud would win out. i like all three characters, but cloud seemed to be the toughest out of all of them. Tidus just didn't come off all that strong in my opinion, confident and a little whiny at times, but not all that strong.

I've always been a Squall fan, mainly as I (very sad I know) associate with him the most. I like his taciturn nature and the way he's drawn out of his shell as the game goes on. And he has an amusing awkwardness in the dancing scenes and when being made commander of Garden. That and I love FFVIII.
Well if this is a vs thread is it really fair to include Tidus? Why not Auron instead?
How about we make it between Cecil, Galuf, Sabin, Cloud, Squall, Zidane, and Auron? (And whoever is the badass for XII)

Tsk tsk, can't believe I haven't posted/voted in this thread yet. Alright, I voted for Cloud. I like all of them, of course, but main-character-wise would be Cloud because of his unique character development. Even though he was a little weak emotionally at first, he came to his senses eventually and grew to be this very strong individual that will punish those who threatens the people he loves. Now THAT'S hot.
Hmm, and Squall was a crybaby? Really? Well, I suppose he was when he was a little boy, but as a 17-year old teenager...uh, I don't think so. I never saw him cry while they were on their mission to defeat Ultimecia...well, except in the ending where he thought Rinoa's mask exploded in the outer space. I saw a tear go down his face, but I never viewed it as being a "crybaby". He was very emotional inside and players were able to read what's going on his mind (because Squaresoft intended it to be that way), but in the exterior, he was aloof and a bit rude, which I also like for some reason, lol. So yeah, Squall would be my second favorite main character.
Third would be Tidus. I actually grew fond of the guy while playing FFX. Yes, his voice is quite annoying, but I learned to live with it.
His character is probably the most saddest of them all, because of the fact that he was actually just

I chose Squall. He was the first Final Fantasy male character I took a liking to and at the time I first played the game I was going through my moody teen phase, so I kinda related to him. Wanting to be alone and seen adults as people who moan about how theyve wasted their lifes, etc.
There's a favorite main character thread. I don't know about an overall favorite character though.
I thought that was just in the FFX section.
I think they have "who's your fave carachter" in each section, but I haven't looked yet to see if a universal thread exists. Lol.

Zidane. Tidus is whiny, and the only one that can be considered a cry baby up there.
Squall? Squall had no personality traits other than 'boring' or 'act like you don't give a shit about anything cause it's cool/you're the only one in the entire world who grew up in an orphanage/didn't get enough hugs'
