As you may know, we're working hard on CMS for this site (Content Management System). Along with many actual news articles about Final Fantasy, we thought it would be a good idea to round up a bi-weekly or monthly GFX news article that I'll be writing myself. (Maybe Jay and Aaron are down for adding some things).

My question to you guys is: What would you like to see in the GFX news articles?

I'd love to hear what you guys think would be good things to cover, even if you're not that interested in reading articles yourself, a bit of feedback from you guys is greatly appreciated. So if you could spare a minute to give some suggestions, that'd be great.

I was thinking we could cover the following...

  • GFX Artist of the Month.
  • The upcoming Clan Challenge theme.
  • The upcoming SOTW theme.
  • Display said bi-weekly/month's SOTW/Clan Challenge winners.

What do you guys think?

Haha. I didn't even know you made this thread until I read Stevie's blog. ;)

Just a little forewarning - I know the GFX community prefers not to have their tags displayed in public (reason why Guests can't see this), but if you're totally cool with having the winners (bi-weekly or monthly, depends on Six and Morgalodia) displayed on the homepage, then this would be great for recognition. But if displaying your GFX in public is something you don't want to see and would rather have it remain within the forums, then it would be best to say so now or PM the mods about it.

For the GFX Artist of the Month, I think it would be great to see at least one signature (Aaron or Kira will have to pick which they think was best) from the artist that was done that same month.

I haven't read the original post throughly, but if you want a GFX related article, perhaps an artist spotlight?

It would be nice to conduct an interview with a GFX person and ask them all their secrets and stuff like that.

Wow. o_O I just had a conversation with Mitsuki about that. Yeah, that definitely seems like a good idea. Include one interview per GFX News update... We'll start with our own forum artists, but maybe we can publish official interviews with people from all over the internet, like on DA etc. :ryan:

Thanks for the input, Raul. Appreciated more than you know. =]

Another idea that you could maybe do is if you got somebody to do it, get a different gfx artist from the forum to make a tutorial every month for the article, it could be in any form 'video, text etc' just a idea.

Include a tutorial... That's nice. :hmmm: I might make a thread about that, see if people can stick to making a tutorial once a month, (one person per month perhaps) and add that in. Mind I'll have to edit and fit it to the format we're gonna use though, very nice idea. Definitely making a note of that.

Thanks! Keep it coming!

It's not about the Clans. It's about the GFX community and giving feedback, you can contribute - you're still a member, missy!

I like the idea and all but I dunno what exactly I could contribute, my style is really simplistic so a tutorial wouldn't be real good xD;, I liked the interview idea too.

Overall I'm all for this xD;

Sorry for the short post I'm really drained from todays little workout ~_~;

Hmm, how about a before and after feature? For example, a GFX artist is featured, with his/her piece from 5 years ago and a current piece. There could be a commentary and critic on both pieces, and how much he/she has improved.

We could also have a random piece (volunteered by a GFX artist) to be featured, and then criticized (positively and negatively) in detail.

I like this idea, but perhaps it could be modified. Like, for example, say someone who hasn't been GFXing for the amount of time you gave. I know most of us have been doing it for over 3 years, but for those newcomers like Toni, it wouldn't work. I'm not saying I'm totally against the idea as a whole, but like stated, it could be modified.

On another note, I'm all for the interview. It would give us great insight on what exactly motivates the person who is being interviewed.

There isn't much more I can add that other's haven't already said. I like the idea of an artist spotlight. An interview would be interesting as well; I have no oppositions to it.

I'd like to thank all of your for your input and suggestions. Taking this with me when the new GFX article hits CMS. =] Thanks guys! If you have any more suggestions, please send me a PM. :D
