Information revealed last night confirmed that some sick bastard has stolen the ashes of the late and great Kurt Cobain from his widow Courtney Love's home.

The full story can be read here: http://blogs.notw.co.uk/showbiz/2008/06/kurts-ashes-sto.html

Personally, I think this is disgusting. Not just because I am a big fan of Kurt Cobain, either. It would take a really sick person to want to steal someone's ashes from their loved ones.

EDIT: This probably isn't the best place to put this, actually. Any moderator can feel free to move it to the Shinra Building, if they wish.

Lols.. This IS the Shinra Building isn't it?
Anyways. To steal someone else's ashes... No matter how famous that person once was, or how great a fan you are, its utterly dumb.
Dumb in the sense theres no point in having the person's ashes, which should be left with Cobain's loved ones.

Two threads in the shinra building now?

I do recall you attempting to correct my spelling of krist. Karma huh?:wacky:

It's a testament to his song writing ability that he inspired someone to steal his ashes.
Maybe the person did it because they wanted the ashes, or they intended to sell them to someone who does.
Regardless, it's a pretty fucked up thing to do. It's extremely immoral to disturb someone's remains.

I was thinking that Mr Flashy

But regardless of who the person is famous or not, stealing someones ashes is just sick and wrong

I've heard of funeral homes substituting ashes for cat litter or whatever. Lord knows what they do eith the bodies but it's just .....wrong >_<

Well ya'know what sorta people work in thos places and their sick SICK sexual fantasy's.....be lucky to even get cat litter in replacement for schmokin' dadda

This is the debate section, not the spam section. =/ Please try to be more on-topic.

I'm not sure what to think on this ashes bit. I'm not a big fan of Kurt Cobain, and even less of a fan of Courtney Love. I do think it's disrespectful to disturb the dead, but I can't help but notice one part of the article:

She kept his ashes in a pink teddy bear.

...Because there's nothing like cute cuddly animals to honor and remember your loved ones...especially when they used to be a Rock Legend.

I think the whole situation is just silly and disrespectful, in it's entirety. Kurt Cobain would be rolling in his grave if he wasn't cremated, that's for sure. =/

You must be the clever one. :monster:

Yeah, I originally put this thread in the Music Studio but I decided that it should go here instead seeing as the Shinra Building is for more serious duscussions.

Maybe the person did it because they wanted the ashes, or they intended to sell them to someone who does.

If the ashes do find their way on to the black market, I think it's pretty safe to say that Courtney will never see them again. Whoever has Kurt's ashes now can do whatever the fuck they want with them, this must be the scariest thought of all for Courtney.

Courtney Love did it for the publicity clearly.

Well... I wouldn't be surprised.

I'm not saying that she doesn't love him, I'm just saying that it wouldn't surprise me if she was behind it all.

...Because there's nothing like cute cuddly animals to honor and remember your loved ones...especially when they used to be a Grunge Legend.

Fix'd. :neomon:

I don't exactly have any reaction to this. It's probably because I don't see them as anything else but ashes. Yes, I know stealing is wrong, but stealing something that's probably invaluable isn't exactly a rational thing to do. If they were invaluable, and you couldn't sell them for much money, it would be pretty stupid to try to steal the ashes, and there was another reason (maybe even no reason at all) the guy stole the ashes.

And for those asking how I would feel if my ashes got stolen, I wouldn't even know if I would be cremated or buried because I would not know what would happen to me after I die, and even if I did become a pile of ashes, I would be incapable of caring whether someone spread them over the wind and they blew off into some river, they remained trapped in some crematorium or a pink teddy bear, or if some moron stole them.

i think that stealin someone's remains wether they be ashes or their corpse is wrong in more than one way but when you throw in the fact tht they are one of the greatest rock god ever's Ashes makes it even more cruel and distructive

that is pretty damn sick.

kinda makes me wonder though, how much do you think they would have gotten for his ashes? Not trying to be disrespectful or anything, but are celebities ashes valuable to the 'biggest fan' kinda crazy people?

This is one of the sickest things I've heard in recent time. Not that I'm too religious or anything, but stealing someone's ashes is ... well wrong... even if it was to sell it for money... It would gave been much better to just steal some expensive jewelry and such then that... plus he could sell it much easily...

Some people are just stupid v_v.

:sad2:This is the reason I think the death penalty should be brought back for the sickos who steal someones ashes:sad2:

IMO it's much better to let them rot in prison then to let the take the easy way out i.e. death penalty...

Let him think about what he's done for the next 40 - 50 years.
