Hi Guys,

I would like to make some comments regarding the recent 2023 release of these games on PS4.

In general, these remaster games are fantastic!

-Firstly, the games look just fabulous. They look very similar to the originals, yet have a feel of being new
-There is a HUGE QUALITY OF LIFE improvement - you can press R3 to turn off random encounters! This is just massive and cannot be understated. It is sooooo annoying to be going through a long dungeon (many of these in FF4, including the towers) and hating it every time the screen goes fuzzy. I find it hilarious watching Darkkefka rage in his LP of the classic FF games.
-FF6 has a major new feature. You can boost EXP, gil and AP. You can set it to x2, x4 or even to x0.5 or x0. This makes grinding much easier. When trying to learn abilities, being able to set AP to x4 makes it soooo much easier. Especially in the WoR when trying to learn spells like Flare or Meteor. Also, you can put the game on hard mode by setting everything to x0.5, or nightmare mode (think no sphere grid) by setting x0.

These games are well and truly worth £15, you just have to try them

I forgot to mention something vital:
-Auto Save feature - both FF4 and FF6 have a new feature whereby when you enter a room, your PS4 will automatically save the game. This is a massive change, as what this means is this - when you get a game over - you get the option to load from the auto save. So, when you get crushed by a boss, you can load and re try pronto. This means that you don't have to worry about going through a dungeon, going far without a save point and getting a game over! In effect, this is a safety net. However, you cannot manually load the auto save - which is weird. It seems that you must get a game over to load the auto save, which is interesting to say the lease

Amazing new feature, talk about quality of life!

The biggest quality of life improvement for me was ff2, id never got beyond the first 30 minutes of the game when ive tried to play it in the past, i wont ever like the direction that took with the "levelling" so i just boosted x4 and just went through for the story. Also all the to-ing and fro-ing to the same place and being able to toggle the random encounters off was good. Whether I'd ever play it again, i dunno, but it at least made it bearable to play again.

I think the toggling the random encounters off for me is the best addition to the remasters though for sure. Its nice to just turn them off when you get fed up trying to explore
