Anyone interested in replaying this content? I know I played the mess out of all three of them, but do you think the hype is going to live up to it's worth? I heard that game wise they are not changing anything in regards to story line.

They are mostly focusing on graphics revamp, but not a lot of mechanic updates. I say, what about you?

The graphics are more or less the same too. The textures are all from the original version, though the resolution is higher and the better texture filtering allows said textures to look more detailed. The lighting model is the part that's brand new. Some people say it looks worse, others like myself say it's a slight improvement. They also have added a few effect changes, like to fog doors and item pickups, and some subtle animations to things like leaves on vines. Mechanically it's also almost identical, with a few small changes. Six player multiplayer, the ability to crush more than one soul item at once, the easy dupe glitch was removed, and at one bonfire that we know of has been added.

The reason I have it pre-ordered is mostly because of the performance. What once would drop to single digit framerates, is now confirmed to run at a nearly 100% solid 60fps, making the game infinitely more playable in areas like Blighttown. This alone turns a horribly flawed masterpiece into the game it always should've been; it works even better than the original PC release with DSFix installed. Getting to play Dark Souls 1 again, with an active playerbase, subtle improvements to mechanical design, and with a solid framerate? It's a no-brainer for me.

You make an excellent point about the player base. I think that's the reason most MMO's I play are one's that either have friends or a larger player base. Since this isn't really a MMO, it's more of a "multiplayer" game where people can drop in and out of, I severely hope we don't have to use player lobby 3rd party applications to make the co-op easier to join.

I would love to see an active player base, but I do know they made very marginal changes in my mind. They didn't switch out the engine, they kept it. They also are not fixing some of the known bugs from the previous version. I have heard, and I do not know if the rumors are true, that steam will bring down the dark souls prepare to die edition and make you purchase this game for an additional $25.00 (only applies to PC users).

While I don't exactly mind that, I do love my old game saves and wondering how they will comp these.

So multiplayer has been updated slightly. Finding messages, bloodstains, invasion and co-op signs is now done through a dedicated server, with the actual co-op and invasions still peer-to-peer. So it should be easier to find random people to join or invade. Likewise, the multiplayer now allows for three phantoms to co-op with, and arena fights can now be 3v3. And finally, they're bringing over the password system from DS3, meaning it's significantly easier to co-op or invade specific people without resorting to external applications and whatnot. There is also a version of stat scaling implemented so that you can co-op and invade a wider range of people.

The Steam Prepare to Die edition is being removed from the store, but anyone who owns it will still be able to download and play it. These people also get 50% off, meaning it'll actually be $20USD. I don't think that old game saves will be compatible though, and we'll have to see if the modding community is willing to port over their mods.

I quite enjoy it now. I have leveled an INT build as a caster, and it's just.. easy mode. I have also rolled a dex build with the uchigatana and Pharis bow. I also have put quite a few dollars into pyromancy just in case things are not as easy for me to take on a straight physical attack character.

My RL friend and I are thinking about creating two fist weapons only characters tonight and name them Ken and Ryu. Then obviously have to have some pyromancy in order to throw some fireballs :)

Lol, that's actually what I'm doing for my co-op character. His name is Pickles, and he uses the Caestus gloves as his only melee weapon. Then he wears Havel's pants and gauntlets, and the onion bro helmet, lol.

Oh wow. Melee only, how hard is it since there are like 4 melee weapons.

Well as long as you're good at dodging, it's not too difficult. You end up doing lower damage than with most other weapons, but you can make up for that with things like Golden Pine Resin.
