Anime Death Note: Best Characters.

I picked L because he is smart and he can make a really good plan. I also think he is very funny and I like the way he thinks. I think it was really funny when L and Light fought each other in Misa's apartment.

I chose Near, as has been mentioned before he had the edge on L, but still many of the personality traits I loved about L. As much as I adored L, I was frustrated when in the manga he seemed to be

so damn easy, I was like "NOOOOOOO not now!!!!!" *argh*

And true, L did get just that bit too close to Light, although I found their fisticuffs entertaining ^^

Near is just so cute, makes you wonder what a cute kid like that is doing in a place like where he and Mello grew up, he seems like all he wants to do is be lost in his own world with his toys. Yet he has this amazing intellect, and though he plays dirty sometimes he always does it in such a cool manner

Mogi was also a favourite of mine. He was so loyal, and kinda naive aswell, he lets Misa run rings around him. I love it when he gets really nervous hehehehe ^^

I like L Ryuk and Light simply because L is just cool. Light is smart and makes the show interesting. Ryuk has his symptoms with apples lol.

L was definitely my favorite character. I just loved his personality, intelligence and quirks. It was the little things like how he sat, how he only ate sweets....ect which made him such a great character IMO, those little things just made me chuckle.

My second favorite character would probably be Ryuk with his laid back personality, I liked how he never got too involved in the storyline (I kinda expected he would what with him being a death god and all) and just chilled with light.

My favorite guy was L.I liked that he was so confident and didn't hesitate to risk his life to solve the Kira case.If it wasn't for L no one would have solved the case.I liked Light as well because it just proves the theory that no human can become God but not because he died in the end.Because he was devoured by his darkest desires and that's what made him more human.God(s) aren't supposed to let his/their feelings control them and that's why He/They are placed above us.Light lost because he used the Death Note for his himself not for the good of the world anymore.Another trait of him I liked was his madness,he is a badass.
Mello:That guy brought leather back.In my opinion he's the ultimate hot guy in Death Note.He again defies that a real man cannot be found in appearance but rather personality and attitude.I wish he hadn't died.
Matsuda:Many may think of him as a side character,but I liked his carefree character.I think without him DN would be a very dramatic anime/manga.He's a pleasant character that won't destroy the story or annoy you.What I loved about him is that he expressed his opinion freely without being afraid of being judged.Most people think of him as being coward because he supported the way Kira thought(in the beginning),but he turned out to be very brave.I mean how many would decide to do the right thing instead of caring for themselves?
Mikami:He is kind of psycho but he was very loyal and I liked that.There are no loyal people today and he never even once thought of betraying Kira or run away.After all he was only doing what he thought right.So he doesn't deserve the title of "Evil" human.There are others who know what they do is wrong but don't stop.

I picked Light because he makes me laugh when he outsmarts L. Especially when he gets ready to kill someone, he tricks them and continously laugh in his head. Most evil anime characters get on my nerves and i don't know why there laughing but Light pulls it off.

I love this guy. He's intelligent and handsome (a combination that doesn't seem to exist in real life xD). But mostly I like the irony that surrounds him. Someone who kills murderers and becomes one... And doesn't seem to see what he's doing.... Just an awesome character! ^^

If Light was as smart as you say he would have predicted what Ryuk was planning from the beginning,but Light underestimated him because Ryuk was a Shinigami.As we all have noticed Light was very arrogant,thinking too high of himself.He based everything on plans,but that's what his mistake was.He didn't have time to keep an eye on Ryuk(the exact opposite of Light).
I have to say that Ryuk just as Joker never made any plans,they only did what they felt like at the moment and that's why we love 'em.

Could somebody tell me why the author of DN decided to make his characters have weird habits(such as sitting in weird position,or eat chocolate to come to a conclusion etc.)?I read that the author himself(Tsugumi Ohba) sits in the way L does,because it gives him ideas(exactly the same reason as L).
Anybody got more info?

Hmm best character to me would have to be Mello. Not only did he escape dying from a burning building he planted the seeds that basically got Kira caught. Second up though will have to be Near just for outsmarting Kira.

I really loved Light, and Death Note's most awesome thing was his unique character. L was cool too, as were Misa and Ryuk, but yeah, Light is definitely the favourite among my favourties XD

As a newcomer to the series (and manga in general), and I've only
read Volumes 1-5 it's between Yagami Raito-san, and L.

Yagami Raito-san seems to be one step ahead of the game, and might
I mention he's a genius. He's quite the mastermind.

L is also quite intelligent, and constantly has his head on a swivel.
He's quirky, and out of this world, real mellow, and laid back..
He reminds me of a stereotypical stoner.

I'm sure I'll make a definitive decision the more I read.
When I do I'll be sure to post it here.

From the moment I began reading the manga, I was always partial to Ryuk at first. I mean, I liked Light in the sense that he was insanely clever, but he never really grew on me. Ryuk, on the other hand, captured my heart right off the bat. I love his hoarse, raspy cackling; that childish curiosity in the human world; and the way he just sits back and watches everything that unfolds.

I also picked L because he was just so darn cute and, of course, SMARTER than Light. :3 Just a tad bit unfortunate seeing as how he didn't have a supernatural force on his side.
