So what are some of the RPG's that you play or have played that you think are underrated?

A couple of games that pop in to my head are:
Grandia 2
.hack series
Shadow Hearts

I could've picked up Disgaea 2 at one time: Should I of?

A couple older games are underrated in my opinion.

- Lunar Silver Star (sega cd) and Silver Star Story (psx)
- Lunar Eternal Blue (sega cd) and Eternal Blue Complete (psx)
- Phantasy Star (sega master system) aka. hardest game ever
- Phantasy Star 2-4 (Genesis)

I'm a fan of challenging RPG's, the new ones are just far too easy. If anyone wants a challenge, play the original Phantasy Star without the strategy guide. Also, if anybody knows of any challenging RPG's, I'm willing to try them.

Bahamut's Lagoon
7th Saga
Actraiser
Breath of Fire I
Breath of Fire II
Chrono Trigger
Chrono Cross
Dragon Quest 1 - VIII
ALL FiNAL FANTASYS
Harvest Moon
Super Mario RPG
Ultima VI
YS IV
Star OCean: Till the end of time and Second Story
Grandia I - III

many many more

Really good RPG and by really good I mean holy crap would be Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion but the only down side to it is if you're going to play it, prepare to devote a decent chunk of your free time to it. Very indepth and absolute freedom means you can go hours and hours without even touching the main quest.

Breath of Fire I-III: Basic JRPG but more endearing than most FFs.
Paper Mario 1+2: Great little RPGs with great humor and a neat battle system that stands out from the usual fare.
Grandia 2: The graphics, story and acting are terrible but the battle system is still one of the best I've ever seen although the boss battles are a real bitch.

I could've picked up Disgaea 2 at one time: Should I of?

Yes.

The Final fantasy games of course, The .hack titles, Disgaea 2, Dragon quest 8,The phantasy Star games, legend of dragoon, xenogears, and xenosaga.

I actually think the Suikoden series might have more appeal to me than the FF games (I know, blasphemy on a forum named for the series).

I also really like Chrono Trigger and Cross. And the Lunar games on the segacd, PS1, and relatively recently released on the GBA were way before their time. Shadowhearts was also a great series on the PS2 that got almost NO press at all.

fallout 1 and 2 on pc. decent post-apocalyptic rpg's loosely based on the GURPS ruleset.

well, Runescape... used to play it, it's actually very good, but people really disrespect it because of its crappy graphics, but what would you expect with a non-download/CD-rom game, it's online in your browser, so well yeah

the idea behind it is extremely good to be honest... would've been a great hit if it was a "real" game instead of a simple java game...

Suikoden gets SO little play and it deserves more. It's a great series. Suikoden III is one of my favorite games of all time. You should still be able to find Suikoden V around somewhere (it came out about a year ago), but they tend not to stay in stores very long.

Most Final Fantasy games are Decent
Saga Frontier is Legendary
Star Ocean II is one of the BEST games in existence
Legend of Legaia is fun for beginners ^_^
Breath of Fire III will always remain one of my favorites. ^_^

id recommend radiata stories...it isnt amazingly birlliant....but is very light hearted and a god game

If you don't mind pc games, try command and conquer: generals along with the expansion pack. You can also try starcraft. Old yet pretty fun.

Oh, and whatever you do don't try romancing saga for PS2. Not worth anyone's time in my opinion.
