i find it very hard to figure out what direction to go in this game, unlike other ff games, and find myself checking the map constantly, the little map in the coner just doesnt seem to help, has anyone else had this problem?

Actually, I liked having the mini-map and the larger maps to refer to. I found that in the dungeons and areas of a lot of the other games, I really had no sense of where I was because of the lack of a map.

I also liked how a lot of the areas connected to each other. For example, the many entrances to Zertinan caverns. The map system in this game was well done, IMO.

From what I remember, I really had no problem with the mini-map in the corner. Took me a few minutes to figure out and a few more to get used to it...but overall, I found my way easily enough.

I never got confused with what direction I was going in but I did get lost quite often and had to backtrack, mainly because most of the map on some stages looked exactly the same and the mini-map just wasn't big enough.

I rarely consulted the minimap and mainly just went through areas and searched the areas and got used to which directions lead to where and followed landmarks. So all in all I had no trouble at all as I rarely use it! Same with other FFs tbh.

i dont think i ever had a problem with the map, I know i missed it when i was in the pharos I felt like I was blind lol.....So, nopes I think the map was great

Shees some people sure find everything in FFXII is bad.

Map was very good and helpful. Some dungeons I went watching minimap not my characters so map was good but I think I could make with out it.Although it was definately more useful than minimap in FFX. XII dungeons were labyrints ( good thing) while X dungeons were usually only one, two-screens and then it was over(bad thing) .

I think the mini-map was amazing. I always used it and when the mini-map was screwed the big map still worked. I liked the map system. The battle system didn't suck, the storyline was ok, and the game absolutely was not a PoS.

I didn't have any trouble with the Minimap .... not that I actually used it that much.
I used the larger map to plan where I was going and only used the mini to stay on course

It was helpful and easy once you got used to it. Sometimes when the environment would kinda give me a headache, I 'd just watch the minimap. When the area is so richly rendered, I guess it's necessity.

It was generally very well done, but there were times where I had to look twice to figure stuff out! I generally liked the way they did the maps though. XII IS my favourite FF for gameplay. :P
