What happened to KH III? Did the whole thing die? All news about it has just kind of fell off the face of the planet, or maybe I'm just crazy?

There was never any plans for KHIII, nothing was ever announced or stated as happening. We just knew that there were going to be other KH games.

Actually,it was said that coded,358/2 days, and birth by sleep were supposed to be connected to a future unannounced game(maybe KHIII). all we have to do is hope that more news will surface:)

The only recent stuff about the KH series would be 358/2 Days since it's been released about a week ago in Japan and Birth by Sleep is still in the works apparently.

The CLOSEST thing I've heard about a future KH game is that Square said that there would eventually be one made. Never said when or even started on story ideas, but they will make another KH game after BbS

...Eventually >_>

all the news has been mainly about 358/2 and Birth By Sleep.
but they are definately going to make a KHIII, BBS and 358 are filler games to get some holes cleared up for III

Hmmmm. Makes sense. I wonder how long it'll be before those all get ported to NA. Anyhow, I hope these games aren't little quickies either. I hate filler games that rush everything and leave everything kind of up to you to interpret correctly.

uggh I know -.-
but lets get serious, as much as KH kicks ass (seriously I friggin love kingom hearts!). the games are always a little short. so not TONS of length is expected, but I also don't expect it to be any shorter than the others to, if thats what you mean.

Don't hope for Kingdom Hearts III anytime soon. Nomura stated that he will be leaving the Final Fantasy franchise to continue with the Kingdom Hearts franchise only after FFXIII Versus is completed, and although he does overlook and direct the upcoming Kingdom Hearts games; Birth by Sleep, 358/2 Days and Coded, I doubt there'll be major games released in the KH series until Versus is completed. There may be a possability of KHIII announced at TGS2009 and E3 2010, but don't get your hopes. Although it's almost certain there will be a KHIII eventually.

Ahhh...gotta love how Square Enix has been a little sneaky about the Kingdom Hearts series. Granted, there will definitely be a 3rd, and quite possibly more, but we all know how SE love their secrets and surprises.

It may take a little while, but when KHIII comes, it'll be worth the wait.

Actually, the videos presented at the end of KHII were previews of "Birth By Sleep", which is a PSP game centered around the former keyblade heroes, Ven, Terra, and Aqua.

Still though, it's obvious that 358/2 and Birth By Sleep are both the bridge type of games that'll lead us to KHIII. Birth by Sleep revolving around what happened the years before, and 358/2 diving into the inner workings of The Organization. Both are probably things that'll teach us more about the Nobodies, Xehanort, etc...

To act like they're not going to release KHIII simply because there hasn't been talk of it is a bit naive. They left the series open at the end of II, particularly with the letter from King Mickey. Additionally, there's no way they'd leave a story off with the final games revolving around the past - as that's just bad storytelling; let alone the fact that they're both on handheld systems.

That being said, KHIII did not "die". The bridge games have to be completed first, and the game itself is obviously going to take effort. Don't hold your breath in wait for its release.

However, Nomura hasn't even started planning it yet, by all accounts, he's most likely thought of what to put in it, but unless there's an announcement at TGS2009 I think we could be waiting a while for it. :ness:

Because he's still working on Versus, an announcement before it's completed wouldn't be very accurate. But after he's Versus is completed you'd assume he'd then concentrate on KH3.

Yarly :gasp:
As far as I'm aware he's quitting Final Fantasy once Versus is complete to work on the Kingdom Hearts series, though I expect him to go back once he's finished with KH :ness:

of course there will be a third game.

the Nintendo Dream spread on Kingdom Hearts features an interview with Tetsuya Nomura and Tomohiro Hasegawa. The final question asked to them brings up some very interesting thoughts on the future of the series...

Nintendo Dream
Hasegawa-san, Nomura-san, you created the series together. Is there ever the feeling that there won't be a next installment? Hasegawa
There surely will be. I really can't think of any reason why not, if everyone's heated support continues. When it is said "Nomura will do III," I can't say we haven't thought of anything.

also there is a rumor going around that kingdom hearts 3 will be annouced at this year's tokyo game show. we will find out for sure when the time comes.

koh = Kingdom Hearts?

If so there haven't been any remakes, just sequels/prequels and even then it's to link all the stories together, Chain of Memories links KH and KHII together, Birth by Sleep is a major part of the story as is 358/2 Days from what I'm aware.

Unfortunatly, there have not yet been any plans to announce Kingdom Hearts III, therefore it is not dead, as it was never alive. Tetsuya Nomura, the creator of the series, has stated on numerous occasions that there currently are no plans to create KHIII, although he does have ideas about it. The KH team are currently busy working on Birth By Sleep, coded, and Final Fantasy Versus XIII, so don't expect to see an announcment for a while. However, do expect to see the game appearing on the PlayStation 3.

There's a secret trailer at the end of Birth by Sleep so that could possibly hint towards KHIII, though Nomura is leaving the Final Fantasy side of Square Enix after creating Versus XIII to concentrate on the Kingdom Hearts side which will be most likely when the Kingdom Hearts series is up and running :)

here's a question. since disney has bought out marvel comics can we expect to see marvel characters in future KH games? i think that would be a pretty cool world to be in with spidy, hulk, xmen etc.
