Fan Fiction Dissidia 012 Discussion

Oh... so they've shown what's happening with them... I must've missed it. :gonk:

All I'm hoping for is a little, insecure, Black Mage-shaped present under the Dissidia christmas tree... if they bring in Vivi, I can die a happy man. I've even thought of a way they can play him - as a sort of long-range version of Jecht, Focussing his magic until it explodes in a harmony of destruction and fury.
Ah, it'd be beautiful...

Mmh... I don't want Yuna to join the cast, I want... Auron :D
It would be super. I'm sure that if they put Yuna, she will be as stupid as she is in FFX-2. I mean, we already have Tifa, Lightning, Terra... we don't need an undressed gunner/singer/summoner -.-
For the character of NES generation, I bet there will be Gilgamesh. I'm still hoping for Rydia or Edge, but there's already Kain ;-(
Who do you think they'll put for FF2, 3, 5 and 6??
For the first 2, I don't have a clue. For the 6th, hope it'll be Locke or Celes, also Shadow or Sabin would be intresting.

Well, we already know that there won't be a new character for FFs 2 and 3 thanks to the interview posted above. I'm trepaditious of calling another character from FF5 because it's terribly hard to think of playstyles for those characters, outside of using Lightning's paradigm shift mechanic to change jobs mid-battle, which would be a stretch.

I can easily see another FF6 person coming in, and I think it's a toss up between either Shadow or Relm. Shadow has the thrown weapons which nobody in S-E seems to like and Relm could play as a Chaos version of Bartz, mimicking opponent's moves instead of allies. It'd be kinda cute to see her toddling around, painting Shockwave Pulsars and Particle Beams...

As for the later FFs, if Yuna is confirmed we'll have to shift the focus onto who will be added, if anybody, to Chaos' roster. If we have FFs 4, 7, 8, 10, 12 and 13 free, who'll get the honor of having an extra foe?

WoL
Shield of Light: will aim diagonally depends on opponent's position.

Tifa

Blizzara: will hold the opponent for a while like Squall's Mystic Flurry.

Laguna

Shield Bomb: the shield has Ranged Mid priority. Reflects weak magic directly aimmed at opponent.

Tidus

Spiral Cut: added Magic Block property.

Shantotto

All HP attacks have faster startup.
Reduced BRV requirement for higher tier HP attacks. Aeroga (2nd Tier) has been seen with 2xxx Brv.
Bio: will not disappear when blocked. i.e can be reflected back to Shantotto now
frown.png

Vaan

Axe+Shield (Switch): cause guard stagger (Melee Mid priority).

Lightning

Thunder: a single thunder strike in the front, somehow short range, very short lag. If hit, can follow up with 2 more strikes. Has Chase property.
Fire: can shoot 3 times continuously. Fly slowly at start, gradually pick up speed.
Optima Change (Paradigm Shift): stated to be pressing L+R, but is more like L then R. Can shift quickly if you hold the L button, and quickly tap the R button. Cannot shift while attacking or being attacked.

Garland

Flare (the new HP attack): quickly close in at 1st hit, good tracking, tracks vertically too.

Emperor

Mine: can be used continuously. At most 10 mines can be set on field.

Does anyone know what the new stages in those screenshots were? One of them kinda looked like the edge of reason from ff 12 but i may be wrong.

I'm really intrigued by what sort of accent Laguna's gonna have. :hmmm: As if he wasn't a big enough dreamboat already. :ohoho:

Also looks like he's getting the comedic relief treatment. The first was kinda stiff with the dialogue.

I think it might be Shadow. The Phantom train level being a clue. Though Shadow and Relm, though they may be main characters, I don't think that they are main- main- main characters like Locke, Celes or Terra may be. I think Square said in a review that the characters getting through are getting picked because they have a main relationship with the villian or hero. And Shadow, I don't think he really cares about Kefka that much and Relm had more of a relationship with Ultors. "Uncle Ulty " lol. So I don't think Shadow or Relm is going to get picked for the game.

As for the later FFs, if Yuna is confirmed we'll have to shift the focus onto who will be added, if anybody, to Chaos' roster.

It might be Yunalesca's feet as she walked around with no shoes on. :hmmm:

I dunno...I'm less and less inclined to think we'll get a FFVI character now. It's definitely a fan fave game, for sure, but thinking about the characters involved, where does a new potential FFVI character fit into Duodecim's story?

From what I remember, everybody was worried about Terra and everybody had a beef with Kefka-but Vaan seems to have taken up the protector role, so for a FFVI character to show up and NOT be related to Terra and Kefka would seem off, you know?

@Channizard: Eh, to be honest, I'm wrinkling my nose a little at a supposed accent. He didn't have one in FFVIII if I remember right, and the stuff he's saying now is making him come off a little rough around the edge, which he's not; clumsy for sure, but he was journalist. He had decent grammar xD

@_Symphonia: Yunalesca had some pretty ankle bracelets if I remember right, and again, the testimonies claimed there was a blue kimino in the scene-Yunalesca was all but nekkid :lew:

Also, I was browsing GameFaq forums, and one odd comment caught my eye. That this so-called bare feet was in CGI. I dunno if that's true, but assuming it is Yuna, maybe her supposed sending is only for a scene, and not something in she would do in actual battle?

...Assuming it's true :P

What if Cyan was picked?

The Phantom Train is more centred around him than it was Shadow, and Cyan certainly has connection to both that map and Kefka in that he certainly has issues he'd want to fight Kefka for.

I agree with what Fusionist is saying, though I guess Vaan is simply being used to fill in for Locke, or to act as a younger Locke. Perhaps if Cyan was added then he may still be protective and guarding, or he could have other issues or be looking after / making relationships with other people.

I don't see Cyan being picked though. He certainly wouldn't be my first choice, as much as I love the character. I think we should have a few wild cards to make Dissidia more exciting, so I'd much rather see a character like Gau, Relm or Mog from that game.

Argor, you're speaking my language right there. Think about this - all of Bartz' moves are built around mimicking the Cosmos players. If you brought Relm in, what's to stop her pulling out copies of the Chaos fighters? It'd be like playing Bartz in reverse!

Mog would be heavily dependant on quickmoves and the like, I guess, dancing around the stage... perhaps his EX power would be to drain bravery from the opponent whenever they got trapped in an area where brave would normally be lost to the stage...

As for Gau, I got nothing. Perhaps he can Leap as an Assist in combat then, when you pull him out later, he has a new HP attack that gives him the moveset of the opponent he Leaped? It'd be hilarious to watch Gau perform manly headbutts and the famous Octoslash, that's for sure.

So, we've yet to see a new Chaos fighter... anybody willing to place bets on who it'll be? Odds are it won't be anybody from 4, 7, 8, 12 or (maybe) 10, but that leaves 5, 6, 9 and 11 as all likely candidates. As a bit of an extra thinking game, how d'you think the additions will play?
My bets are on:
5: Gilgamesh. It's gotta be him, though his attack style is going to be confusing. It's possible that he'll be a very unpredictable fighter, using all his swords only in EX burst to fit with his "It's Morphing Time" EX ability.

11: Shadowlord. It can't be anybody but he who has died before, returning to... okay, so I have no experience with him and just read the Wikipedia entry on him. Honestly, got nothing.

6: Y'know, I can think of an evil (or at least "evil") character who's related to both Kefka and Terra - General Leo. It'd be interesting to see if he gets a look in, as he is both a general in the empire and a well-renowned swordsman.

Anyway, those are my picks. I'd only expect one or two to be right, though.

I have a hard time believing that we as the players of the Cosmos warriors will play the POV of an evil-evil Chaos warrior. I'm putting my bet one someone along the lines of Jecht's situation-a villain in the superficial sense.

It's why I had been so sure we'd get Seifer. His style would inevitably be similar to Squall, but while he was an antagonist, more than anything he was misguided and manipulated by Ultimecia. He's an arrogant warrior, but what was his dream? To be a knight. What do knights do? Protect others. It's just his personal history and rivalry with Squall that made him come off a little more vindictive.

So for me, that leaves one other obvious choice: Beatrix from FFIX

She's wasn't even really evil when you think about it; just following duties with her own streak of taciturn efficiency that borderline ruthlessness. However, she was always loyal to Garnet and immediately went to aid her and the others was she was fully informed of the situation.

I hope that Yuna get confirmed also, seymour could be a new bad guy to add to the game :)

Also, I was browsing GameFaq forums, and one odd comment caught my eye. That this so-called bare feet was in CGI.

From what I heard, those said feet also appeared right after the Tidus and Jecht head scene.
I dunno, but it seems like this whole Yuna-feet story keeps getting stuff added on to it everyday. It kinda sounds fishy to me. :ahmed:

Edit:
I also just found out that Your Favorite Enemies will not be returning to sing the theme songs for DFF:012.

According to this week's Famitsu, Mitsunori Takehashi, director of Dissidia Duodecim, confirmed Yuna was shown at Jump Festa 2011.

It's official?! :gasp:

I wonder how she'll play? Like Cecil?

Its a high chance they will make her like Cecil, since she two has two "jobs". :)

So... it's official. Yuna is in Dissidia Duodecim. Am I the only one who's not so happy for the choice??
Anyway, I thought about old nes/snes characters... if FF2 and 3 don't have a new entry, they will probably put in Faris and Celes, or Sabin. I'm pretty sure they won't put Relm, Gau, Cyan or Mog. They're not as relevant as Celes in the plot. And I have to say you're all right, they won't put Locke because there's already Vaan who act like him :-(
At this point, we have to think about the villains. Hope there will be Beatrix, at least. I still want to see Seifer in the cast, and I'm a little bit indecisive about Seymour and Yunalesca. Do you think they'll consider one of them?

Well, they destroyed my dream to see Auron in the cast... Now I claim to see Vivi!! They must put him in!

But they could put in Shadow! he was awesome
:busta:

Seifer's not really a "villian" he was just mis-guided, and there's already Ultimecia. From what i've seen they only put 1 villian from each of the games as the opposition :S

They'd put in Seymour over Yunalesca, although they were both casters, Seymour was the asshole of FFX.
