This is a two-part question. The title says it all. Do guys out there like girl gamers more than girls who don't game?

For me, it would have to be a resounding YES, and I say this merely because whenever some guy at school learns that I adore such games as Darksiders, Fallout 3, Halo, and Devil May Cry, they are all but scribbling their phone number on the back of my hand. Their attitude entirely changes! Suddenly they are interested in me much more, want to chat a lot, invite me over to Halo parties (which is dumb because I can't play FPS on console, only on PC!)

The second question is why? What reasons make a guy like or dislike a girl gamer?

Go!

Well, this only applies for guys that like video games, but yes, overall guys love girl gamers. I think its more of a commonality thing. A high percentage of guys tend to like video games whereas a significantly lower percentage of girls like games. So if a guy finds a girl that likes video games, he basically struck gold.

Female gamers are hot to me as well. I mean, going out and doing things is all well and good, but if I can play Mario with my girlfriend when we don't go out, that's just insanely epic. Even if it's not a woman that you're dating, it makes for more interesting topics to talk about. "Hey, I was playing Call of Duty last night and I had a game of 20-5 on Team Deathmatch on Bog!", "Really!? I had a game of 23-2 on Countdown!", "Awesome!". Ok, maybe it wouldn't be that cheesy, but you get my point. :ryan:

Well, me being female, I can't answer this directly. However, one thing that drives me up the wall is the fact that when you say that you are female and enjoy gaming, that automatically means that you sit naked in front of the computer, or use a Guitar Hero controller as a shirt.

I'm so tired of girls trying to "kick guys asses", and creating these idiotic groups. Why can't we just play each other regardless? I mean, just play me like you would a guy. I don't have to beat you, I don't want to kick your ass, I just want to play you. I'm tired of people thinking they can get in my pants because I'm a "girl gamer".

Anyway, I think that they do. When I subtly said to one of my male friends that I was playing a game, he automatically became more interested in the conversation (replying faster, talking more). Then he went on to tell some of his friends, and suddenly they wanted to come over or have me over.

I would think that this would hinder some relationships, because of the whole "trophy wife" factor. If you're going to brag about having a girlfriend/wife who games, you would only do so if she was attractive. If she wasn't blonde with huge breasts, you would have no reason to tell all your buddies because it wouldn't be a spectacle.

Maybe I'm being stereotypical, and there are men who aren't as shallow as that, but that's what I've seen.

All in all, yes, they probably do.

yes,a girl needs to understand why i feel this way about bioshock,if she cant, then to hell with her,and darksiders was epic,at least somebody else besies me liked it,but the fps on a pc thing i dont get, mouse over dual analogs, wow, but to sum up your question, yes, guys like gamer girls

o_O Wow, Asabella. I can honestly say that I've NEVER heard of those particular girl-gamer stereotypes! (controller as a shirt, wtf?) And I know I'm nothing special to look at, but get the same treatment, so maybe uber-boobs don't have anything to do with it.

Like Asabella said, I can't answer this for the dudes. But it's kinda annoying when there's always that competitive thing goin' on. But if they just want to play that's awesome. I use to have this friend who'd always play with me on Halo 2, no one would be able to beat him but somehow I won with him. Maybe it was because we never competitively played but it was fun just playing a game.

I think what blakstang98 said is epic cuteness. And I found out that, yea guys do like it. A lot. Just the other day I was speaking of Left 4 Dead 2 and a guy was awed by it, lol.

What ever causes them to like it, I hope they continue to. It's adorable.

I would have to say that I like both equally.

I think that I do become more interested in a girl gamer however, just because it's something that we have in common. I'm always chatting with my male friends about games and so it's good to chat with girls about games as well. Of course someone will become more interested in you if you share something you're both passionate about/do regularly.

In my experience, most girls have been in the clique where it's more important to look good and be one of the 'cool' people and as such I haven't met many girl gamers. Gaming of course is often associated with being a geek/nerd.
For me at least, it shows that they're confident to play games and aren't like the the girls that have been a common part of my social life.

A girl who doesn't play games obviously isn't necessarily like one of those bitchy girl I described from my old school, and it's not like I wouldn't be interested in them. It's just one thing we wouldn't have in common.

So yeah, I like gamer girls in the same way that I like girls who enjoy the same music/places/sports/food etc. as me.

I would also like to say that even though I like the idea of female gamers, I would never discriminate against a girl because she didn't like video games. I personally think it's really cool to stumble upon a girl gamer because it doesn't happen often, but it's obviously not the prime thing I look for in a woman. :ryan:

And yes, some male gamers will have a fascination with female gamers and start to make advances in the way Asabella said. Considering how much fetishes have an effect on our society these days, it certainly happens, but that's for another thread all together. ;) I think this tends to happen with the younger crowd these days, but I can pretty much assure you this sort of thing doesn't happen with guys in my age group (is an old man :().

For me it is definately a plus. It is good to have something in common activity wise, and a shared appreciation for gaming will certainly be great. Because I like to game, it'll be weird for me if I was ever to be in a relationship if the girl had never gamed herself, or disliked the concept or perhaps thought it was only for children. If a girl herself games she is more likely to understand, and we might even be able to play with each other on games.

As for just liking in general and not in a romantic way perhaps the same applies. It is good to have friends that also game. If I was ever to be friends with a girl, it'll be ace to see her game and we could perhaps play with each other on games.

Since games are more interactive and sociable than most other forms of entertainment (books and movies are great, but you can't interact over these unless you talk about them), then they are good to do with friends. So gamer girls are great for this.

But I guess it also depends on the guy. If a guy isn't interested in games himself then I don't think it matters much at all.

Not that girls being gamers is a must for gamer guys... It just probably helps. :monster:

Ive always dated gamers, the look on their faces when you first announce you play games is adorable. But nowadays there are alot more female gamers. Back 6 years ago, guys jaws would hit the ground when Id tell them Id been a gamer since I was a child.

I guess guys like it when girls are gamers because they can find a common ground and its an activity for both parties. I guess its like football aswell, if you like it, youre as my guy mates say, a legend lol.

Playing games with a girl for me would be like taking them to a movie. It's a shared experience and probably why I'm looking for someone willing to share that experience. Mostly for laughs, as with anything else, but it helps if you're both fans and it's not her being fleetingly interested. However...I really wouldn't want her to just be about games. It's worse with comic books because a lot of girl comic book readers I've met reallllly don't have much else for me to share with them, if that makes any sense. It's just and insane amount of knowledge about comics and that's it. And I'm looking for possibly that PLUS video game, film and general knowledge. I need a friggin walking wiki! Maybe I'm the boring one. Who knows, eh?

Me Personally, I like girl gamers. They have more in common with me and I can talk freely about what I like as opposed to girls who want to talk about other people and not what I like. As to what Asabella said, if a girl did that, it would be nice, although thats not what I generally want to see all the time (sometimes would be grand (y) ) Anyway, girl gamers tend to be cool and easier to deal with and wont pester me about playing too much video games -_- Its just like Blackstang said, its a commonality thing.

I think I was just raging, a bit.

That was mainly focused on girls who think that they're hot shit and get naked for guys, creating a bad name for us females who actually enjoy gaming (on games other than Guitar Hero and Imagine). It's like we are expected to give out pictures.

It's really surprising to see these replies. I think the idea of a cute girl gamer being your girlfriend is more exciting than having a girl play you online.

Personally I think a lot of male gamers are underestimated in that department. We're Final Fantasy fans after all... yeah, it is more exciting, =). Just more fun in general too.

From what I've seen most guys don't respect girl gamers... it's not really a matter of like or dislike. I can't TELL you how many times I've played Halo, and been called a gay 12 year old because I say I'm a girl, and those who DO believe that I am a girl, immediately begin to sexually harass me. I've had guys ask me if I'm hot, How big my boobs are, they ask sexual questions that do not need to be repeated here. I've been asked to PROVE I am female by sending naked pictures to them. the RARE group that doesn't harass me sexually harass me by bitching about how girls suck at video games, and should I get back in the kitchen and make them a sandwich. There is a VERY VERY rare group however that are respectful. But mostly, most guys online do not like girl gamers, as some seem to think I'm only gaming to make myself look interesting to them, or that I am some sexual object.

Im a member of the an XBox 360 forum and in my welcome thread I called the title, for a giggle, girl gamer ... well that was last year and people are still posting in it I think! Last time I checked it was 4 pages lol XD I couldnt believe it. Oh shes single also, BONUS!! Nuh uh lol ... It does suck how some women do make us female gamers look bad and the whole kitchen thing ... yeah had that ...

II know i like gamer girls better then non gamer. They have common ground with you and instead of always having to find something to do, you can just pop in a game and have fun for quite awhile. I've yet to actually find many gamer ladies, i know their out there, just not around where i live.

It certainly helps, because it makes us have that much more in common. I only know two girls that actually game A LOT though, and I don't really have a thing for either of them. The rest of the girl "gamers" I know usually stick to Pokemon/Wii games/Guitar Hero.

The major thing that initially attracted my boyfriend to me was that I was a gamer. He never had to set time aside from a game that he was playing for me because I'd be right there playing it with him.

I think in many cases, gamer guys like girl gamers because typically (this is from my experience) they are low maintenance, not drama queens, and they don't yell at their guys for playing video games too much XD.

Unfortunantly there are not many girl gamers out there, and many of those that claim to like video games are talking about games such as the original Mario, Wii sport, Wii fit, or some type of generic Wii game XD.

And also unfortunantly, girl gamers are often stereotyped as being fat and ugly :(

OMFG!!! this happened with one of my exs. We were texting each other for ages before we met and then he admitted he was blown over when he met me as he was expecting a complete "fatty" ... yeah. He was the fatty rofl!!! That lasted 3 years lol.
