Do You Dodge More, or Block More?

I've found that playing exdeath a bit teaches you to block. I'm blocking much more often now and I'm playing much better as I'm punishing my opponent heavily when I block.

Depends on who i am. WoL allows me to block a heap more, but i dodge alot too.
Exdeath revolves around me blocking. and air-dashing. and very rarely Dodging.
Otherwise, i dodge. alot. so much so, that it took 10 minutes for a level 100 Jecht to land a hit on me.

Best way find out is go to Museum>Records and look at total blocks&dodges.

My total (Succesful)blocks are 1845, dodges 2959.

Btw this is my first post :sup:Sup

I actually dodge more ... It seems that I just can't manage to block effectively, and I keep on getting defense crushed ...

i doge like hell cos of ject being my main enamy in the game and cos its quicker then blocking and you get more room butween you and the enamiys

This. I can block sometimes, but normally just the basic bravery spells like Cloud's Fire etc. Other than that I tend to get Defence Crushed every time I try, so I've learned to just dodge like a mofo.

Depends on which character I'm facing.

WoL is fast so it's tough

Garland is slightly easier but still tough

Firion is predictable so it comes down to reflex

Emperor is spam dodge like there's no tommorow

Onion dude is 50-50

CoD is block when she flings her snake thingies

Cecil is 50-50

Golbez cheats so I have to dodge

Bartz is 80-20 (Block-dodge)

Exdeath is dodge

Terra is dodge

Kefka is dodge

Cloud, hehe, you can see his giant sword coming a mile away so with him I wait for him to attack then block and mop the floor with him

Sephiroth, I don't know

Squall has one attack that breaks block so you can't counterattack, the rest are fast so dodge

Ultimecia is unblockable

Zidane is 60-40

Kuja, I don't know

Tidus is dodge

Jecht is unblockable

Yes, golbez does cheat, get over it.

Not always successful, but I was more into dodging than blocking.

To be honest, I just kind of liked seeing the character twirl around all prettily when they dodged xD

I am more of a blocker than a dodger. It depends on what character you are using or who you are fighting with. For me since I am using Cloud I like to block then attack since it makes it more easier for me to win the fight. When I am on the ground I block and when I am on the air I dodge. There are some attacks that can't be blocked because they break your defense, so when that happends I just dodge them by going into the air.

I dodge more. I can't be stressed to time the dodges, so I just dodge and go behind the person and then assault them. I want to learn how to block better, due to it's benefits outwieghing dodging.

Dodging is a lot easier than blocking. Even if your reaction time is so great that you can block a Hop Step, you will still sometimes try to block a Tidus that is very close to you only to find out that that attack was Spiral Cut and not Hop Step. However against Cloud, Tidus, Zidane and several others, blocking is very important.

Dodging won't always give you a chance to punish, but blocking will. However, dodging is a lot safer than blocking.

I usually dodge more as well unless I know what attack is coming then I will block. While blocking does give you a good feeling, it is risky, If you miss, you get hit. If you block the wrong move you get defense crushed and still hit. If you dodge you have a higher chance of avoiding the attack all together but you will likely not be in as good of a position to counter than if you blocked. They both have advantages but for the most part I would rather dodge.

Dodge about 75% of the time, Block about 25%, and that's usually only when I know I won't screw it up. Sometimes I'll stupidly Block a Defense Crush move, but I try to do it when it counts.

Besides, the way I constantly dodge turns my characters into ballerinas usually. XD

I haven't played Dissidia, but I reckon I'll be half and half, like real life. Not quite sure whether I would play Dissidia but half and half is probably me.

I only block when I fight chaos, other then that I dodge always.

(I also use dodge as a jump substitute :P)

With practice, you can very safely predict a block. Still, blocking creates mind games against real opponents in whether they will attack or not and often both players may block at the same time. It also depends whether you are blocking a physical move or not as blocking a spell from a mage won't punish your opponent and has a higher risk of failing.

This.

It's why I'm not a fan of fighting games all that much. It gets to the point where if you're not attacking, you're instantly mashing block. After a while, the fights are no longer fun. :sad3:

I more simply because its the harder of the 2 defensive actions and it also depends who I play with I use dodge more with tidus simply coz thats what hee would but sqaull l thgink would block more than dodge It depends on who l use
