FFX-2 do you like how you have more freedom at the begining of the game

I liked having the freedom to go where I wanted early on, but I didn't like getting my ass kicked by things that I thought were easy.
 
I only like it because its spira and ive spent all of ff10 exploring it. However if that was a feature implemented into the next ff i would hate it
 
I think that FFX-2 was all over the place. It's okay to have those sidequests but X-2 had a whole chunk!!! Sometimes I would forget what the main storyline was...
But I still like the game :)
