Do you miss naming your characters?

Yeah. I usually change the names of people I know or like for the characters that suit them. For X, I just changed the names of the summons to random people.

i only did that with Final Fantasy 1 back in the NES era i remenber naming all characthers after my 3 best friends hehe and me.

I have seen a lot of really funny/great custom names given to FF characters, but I've never really liked renaming the characters myself, because I always feel like it takes away a little from their identities when I play through the story. I dunno, I just feel like the game writers probably gave them the names they did for a reason, and interfering with that kind of feels weird to me. I guess it's like, if you think about something like Lord of the Rings, for example--if you had been able to change Frodo's name to something like "Bob Boblets" or "Dingleberry" or something while watching the movie/reading the book, I think the story would have lost a lot of its emotional impact, especially the first time through. But then if you're already familiar with the story, it might not matter as much anyway.

No, not at all. I've I've never renamed any of my characters, and chose to keep the original names instead. I just generally prefer the characters to be named how they originally were. Simple really.

I don't really miss naming them at all. In fact, it's nice to have some set names down and it saves me having to think of good ones instead.

It depends on the game I guess. But in general I like the default names especially when I don't have the opportunity to change the story. I mean in FF games there are one story which we play through and don't really have the power to change what will happen (or at least in the games I played/I'm playing). But for example in visual novels and some other games you get more endings, and then I really feel I would like to customize the whole game and name the characters myself (or at least my character). But in FF games I just would like to get to know the characters better. They are the protagonists, not me (or I feel so, but it's definitely not an impersonal experience!), and I really would like to see their legends.

Ew No. I have never renamed characters that already have established canon names. A name is basically the identity of a character so the original name is the only option. Generally, I dislike games that don't have a default name esp if your character has some sort of personality to them. I want to experience the story as the creators envisioned it. I see no sense in changing them otherwise n always thought that that option was stupid n fkng pointless.

I will mention that I absolutely loved Legend of Mana's small pool of cute default names; Aura, Aurora, Luca were my favorites of the pseudorandomly generated name options.
