I only name those with names that don't really click with me. >_> Most of the time those are from the FFTA series. I mean...Marche? X) No offense to anyone who liked that name, personal preference is all. =)

I rename my characters all the time. Always have, and probably always will. The main character is always named after me, the love interest is always the girl I am with, or when I was younger was the girl I had a crush on, and then the supporting cast was always my friends. I don't imagine me changing it any time soon.

I went from renaming all of them, to just the main character, to none at all.

I'd usually give the main character my own name, but I just prefer leaving them as they are these days.

The one exception is Red XIII in FFVII, who I always name Nanaki, because that's his name :)

I've always renamed my characters. I still remember each characters original name, but I much prefer the ones I make up for them.

I used to. My first play through of VII, I named Cloud after my boyfriend, Tifa after me... etc, etc, until the entire cast was named after my friends. But I don't really do that anymore, unless I'm super bored, lol.

It all depends on what mood i am in, thats why i find FFIV so great, to change a characters name you just talk to that namingway guy or whatever he is called and poof put in a new name. in VII I normally put Red XIII's name as Nanaki as it's his real name and i normally change Aeris to Aerith because i can. ummmmmm i once called Tifa jugs bu tthats because i was bored and i never use the woman, she gets on my nerves. ummm but yea i also quite often change the names of the main characters to my name...it helps feed my ego having a story based around me.

Its all about ego for me as well. Plus, I like being able to tell one of my friends that just pissed me off "Oh yeah, that's why I named the dumbest character in the game after you." Then we go settle our argument in some sort of sport, and then I have to find namingway.

I really don't rename my characters. I think the first time I was given the chance to do so I thought about it for a minute or two, played the blonde card and asked someone else before going with my first choice of not renaming them at all.

I like it better with their original names, but seeing most people say they rename the cast after themselves and friends sounds kind of interesting. Not sure if I would try it out, but it's interesting none the less.

I've never changed a single character's name, and doubt I ever will. These names were chosen by the people who bring us Final Fantasy. I know they're far better when it comes to choosing names than I'll ever be. And I've always like the names they've chosen.

Once, I watched a video of the battle against Seifer in FFVIII when he kills Odin, and the person to uploaded the video had changed Squall's name to Kevin...

I play RPG's to escape this world for a while, and to enjoy a completely different life than the one I have. I wouldn't want to change a female character's name to Jenn... it's just weird IMO.

I renamed on VII then started over when i got pissed that I did it. Since ive only renamed one and that is in IX, the frog eating heshe i renamed to beeyatch which is pretty much my default name for characters. I only did it because I really did not like the name given to that character.

I never change the names. I just can't be bothered. Also, when talking about them online, once you have been playing your game for ages, you can't remember what the original name was, especially if you start playing the game for the first time and then after a while talk to people about the game.

I use to, but found when I started talking about the game with friends or online, I had no idea who was who. So I leave the names alone now. It's not that big a deal anyway.

No, I don't change the names. It takes away purpose of who they are as the character themselves that the creators of Square-Enix came up with it. Besides, I am not good at coming up with names anyways.

I like putting myself as a character in as many RPGs as possible, especially fantasy RPGs. As such, if there's a mage, that's me. If there's no mage, but a swordsman, that's me. If there's neither, then I don't put myself in. But that's generally it, I avoid changing the names of any other characters, and I left Tidus as Tidus on my playthrough of X.

quote=Sir Laguna;426863]I always change Aeris' name to Aerith. If that even counts...

I did that too. It just fits better. I don't bother with the rest, cause like mentioned before, when someone talks about a certain person in the game, I'd be nice to know who their talking about.
When I know the game in and out, I tend to change names, but that only leads to never playing it again after the first few hours.

Like in VIII, I named Squall Seifer. Made the line "Tell that to Seifer" in the beginning funny.

Also my sister once called Zidane Mr me. That resulted in some funny situations as well.
