Personally I love the spinoffs and such, because the regular game just wasn't enough for me. But everyone I have found hates them. :/ Does anyone think the same as me out there?

OH MY GOSH IKR???

I LOOOOOVE Advent Children. I loved the silverhead trio :P Kadaj was amazingly hot, I love his hair and the voice actor. Loz was hilarious, such a baby. And how I wish Yazoo had more lines...

I also loooooove DOC!! I mean, Vincent is just so awesome! And I absolutely loved his love story with Lucrecia. And DG...it was all so creepy...

Ad I haven't playes Crisis Core yet, but I will in like a month. I'm sure I will love it all the same :)

It's not that I dislike the games, I just feel they tried to add more to the world of FFVII than try to answer some questions about the game....

FFVII Advent Children was a pretty movie... thats it... no real plot or anything to really follow it was made for a lot of action with no real story.

DOC: the Final fantasy Shooter, It answers some questions about Vincent but leaves you with a lot more questions....

CC: Ok a game talking about Zack, so it goes back in time...so it will answer some questions about FFVII right???? Right??? NO! It leaves you with more questions and more confusion than ever.

So if you take each game as it's own you might find them enjoyable, but if you try to tie them into the FFVII universe your going be angry and confused.

No, I don't, from experience.

I tried the spin-off games, they were just...no. The movie, I guess, was good. But anything else I disagree with, highly. Oh, DoC wasn't that bad at all either. I liked seeing something was wasn't related to the big Three. It was refreshing, nonetheless.

I thought DoC left a little to be desired, the mechanics of the game could have been better, and CC was ok but overall didnt add to much for me,so I cant realy knock them to bad but I think the whole spinoff thing is a little to much with this game.
Yes it has a fandom but it can only be dragged out so much befor it gets old.

CC: Ok a game talking about Zack, so it goes back in time...so it will answer some questions about FFVII right???? Right??? NO! It leaves you with more questions and more confusion than ever.

:hmmm:

What was so confusing about Crisis Core?

The spinoffs for VII were interesting. Not meaning that they are the best games ever but kinda fun if you are a die hard fan. Advent Children reminds me of the movie Independence Day. The plot is ridiculous but it is at least fun to watch. Dirge of Cerberus was an interesting game, taking characters from an RPG and making a shooter out of it. But the game isn't that great.

But one of the spinoffs I did like was Crisis Core. Basically only for one main reason. I used to think Cloud was some great hero and then I played through CC and saw how much Zack blew Cloud out of the water. He is a far better hero and his personality was really enjoyable. I tend to like prequels more than sequels and I thought Crisis Core was a great tie in the story of VII.

They are okay if you don't take them seriously since they mess up the plot...at times...and people who play the spin-offs for the first time may go all crazy, but the real gem is the original itself,no spin-offs or rip-offs can ever bring it down.

I don't like the spin offs, I think they added nothing to the original which was complete enough on it's own.

Although I did enjoy seeing the characters in clear modern graphics, cloud with those bobble arms and strange deformed body was a little creepy and it didn't do his good looks any justice.

Other than the graphics I really didn't have much interest in the spinoffs.

:hmmm:

What was so confusing about Crisis Core?

If you try to combine it into the FFVII storyline? They basically redid event's to have Genesis in the game, when he wasn't even thought of in the Orignial FFVII and that just made it seem bleh...

Never had any interest in playing DOC. I watched the original Advent Children and found it mildly boring; I never bothered with ACC. I thoroughly enjoyed CC even though the missions were repetitive. It may be a bonus factor that CC was portable; it's easier to play a game when you can take it with you wherever you go. If it were a console game, I might have never finished it. o_O

I tried to play Crisis Core, hated it. I hated the cheesy Genesis, I hated Zack's voice actor (Angeee-al!! x1000) and I felt they tried to stuff too much 'other stuff' into the game to make it a decent length. Advent Children was alright I suppose, though the Sephiroth trio ruined the movie for me, and knowing that Sephiroth just comes back in the movie makes defeating him in FFVII not that satisfying anymore ("Oh well, you're dead now, but I know you'll be back in some silly movie two years later."). I haven't played DOC (and I've never had the desire to). I feel the Compilation has only needlessly complicated and ruined the original storyline, and I personally do not consider any of the spin-off storylines as canon. I found if I treated it like glorified fanfiction it wasn't so bad. So in short, no, I don't like the Compilation. The original game to me was simply amazing and the plotholes/questions could have been sorted out with a few novellas/OVAs without the need for flashy movies and spinoff game upon spinoff game.

I loved all VII spin offs and squels, especially Adven Children if that counts. I know some of my friends didn't like Dirge of Cerberus but I think it was a great game and Vincent's such a great character I'm glad he got a chance to be a main one!

Advent Children - Pretty to look at and seeing everyone in them pretty graphics were nice. Coulda done better in terms of narrative, however.

Crisis Core - Good gamplay, but the missions were repetative. As for the plot, it was one of those that was a mix between brilliant and awful. I didn't like how they changed a few events to fit the new characters in, but there were pretty good new moments, and the ending was brilliantly tragic.

Dirge of Cerberus - I don't care if it's a Final Fantasy, shooters do little for me, and I doubt one made by a company that usually does RPGs will do much to impress me. Read the plot to, and wtf, talk about silly.

Before Crisis - Can't play, but don't seem to be missing out on much.

Last Order - Eh

On The Way to a Smile - Dull.

I hated it all besides Crisis Core.

It's all just the same old same bullshit where they don't want to put actual content into the game that answers everyone's questions. I honestly don't think the games would be horrible at all if they had better gameplay and included this content within the game's universe.

It's just like, OK... so you played Final Fantasy VII and don't read the translated ultimania guides. What in the flying fuck was Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children about? The entire film lacked depth, as did Dirge of Cerberus.

I also hated Dirge of Cerberus, because it continued to whore out "punching people while they are flying is cool" montage. The gameplay was not exactly amazing either

But Crisis Core was fairly solid and did not need a lot of these additional details. The World Crisis Core was in was pretty much the same as the one the original FFVII was in and all the antagonists were pretty much the same; it was not difficult to understand and really, aside from the gameplay - the only thing I hate about it is that Nero and Weiss were featured in the game, loading Genesis' lifeless corpse onto a Helicopter.

So if you take each game as it's own you might find them enjoyable, but if you try to tie them into the FFVII universe your going be angry and confused.

I agree with this statement completely. I mean, with each new game, they add too many more questions, and not enough questions are being answered, or promised to be answered.

The only one I've played is Crisis Core. I wasn't too sure about the Yuffie/Vincent duo in DOC, nor am I into shooter games...

I thoroughly enjoyed Crisis Core and I left off midway through the difficult setting on my third playthrough. It wasn't magnificent or anything, but I'm some-odd of a Zack freak. I remember becoming obsurdly fascinated when I first encountered the hidden
Zack|Cloud scene in the basement of the ShinRa mansion, five years after I first played FFVII.
:wacky:

I wasn't amused by Advent Children. The mood was too sombre and I disliked the black leather attire. Also, Tifa's hair...her hair is not that dark in FFVII; not to mention that they hacked it off. If they could animate Sephiroth's hair, they could have stayed original with Tifa's. I also wasn't too fond of the guitarization of Nobuo's beautiful music. :gasp:

EDIT: Somehow I managed to forget that I already replied here. o_O

I like Sephiroth on Crisis Core, he seems evil on FFVII though, but I think he is not a bad person, so I try to interpret his behavior at FFVII via his personality according to crisis core, and try to interpret the Nibelheim Incident. I am on half of this working. I will show the true Sephiroth to you someday. I will prove he is the one leading Cloud to destroy all the Jenova cell and kill himself, turn the Planet peace.

I actually do like them. I think they could have left the original game alone, but I do like the sequels nonetheless.
AC-It was nice to see everyone in updated graphics.
DoC-More on Vincent, which was good. I liked him. However I really thought that having DG been there always and be a secret was rather huge. I mean, all along FF7 there are underground people that are going to kill everyone and an evil empowerment that's gonna take over? I'm sick of Hojo.
CC-Was good, but I didn't like Zack too much, and it left some questions unanswered.

I've only played Crisis Core, and watched Advent Children before that. While I do not actually own a copy of Final Fantasy VII yet, I pretty much know the storyline from FFWikia.

Nevertheless, I liked the prequel, sequels, and whatever. I mean, there isn't much to hate on unless you disliked the characters from the start. Crisis Core definitely left a very good impression on me anyway, especially with the story-telling methods they incorporated into the unique game play.
