Anime Dragonball/Z/GT Thread

I agree, I like the games. New one looks like a step back though, it'll only have a handful of characters in exchange for smoother graphics. What I liked the most about the last two games was the 130+ characters...so I think I'll be passing on the next.

Yeah, I forgot about how Roshi looks in the movie. Hair on his head and no hair on his face...

I think the only great thing about GT was Vegeta. I liked to see the way he had changed...and the fact that his daughter pretty much "Owned" him. Such a great character...

You mean Burst Limit? Personally, I think Burst Limit looks WORLDS better than the Tenkaichi games. The campaign actually progresses the way the show does. It feels like you're watching the anime in videogame form. It is a bit of a bummer that there aren't as many playable characters, but it's not like there was a whole lot of variety among the 100+ characters in Tenkaichi. They all basically played the same...with the exception of a few. I'm more bummed that the game only goes up to the Cell Saga.

Actually...omitting the Buu sagas might not be that bad of an idea. Didn't care for those as much.

I want to get Burst Limit I'm happy they brought back the side view cause that was my only gripe about Tenkaichi and the campaign wasn't doing it for me too much but Burst Limit looks great

I just picked up Burst Limit and to my surprise it came with a Blu Ray movie for Dead Zone while the 360 one comes with the first 7 episodes of season one...pretty cool

The thing about the DBZ games, the only reason I liked em was cause of the amount of characters. I only bought em to play with my nephew when I baby sit. But I don't really care for the new one. Better graphics yeah, but with lack of characters I don't care to much for the game. I've never cared to much about the fighting styles, any button masher can be as good as somebody who knows every move inside out.

i think that burst limit looks quite good, and i might have to pick it up next time i am in town, it wil give me a couple of hours mindless violence so i will be happy, and the DBZ games have always been good to cure bordum, i just turn them on select world tournament and kill the shit outta everyone as Vegeta (or majin Vegeta) depending on how i feel

Hello, sorry for interrupting anything but I have question on the overall canon of the DB series. I know that the anime is based off of the manga and some of the DB sagas are fillers but I have a tough time discerning which is the filler and which was actually in the manga itself. Is GT even canon because I read on Wikipedia that Toriyama had no involvement in the anime.

im not sure on that Guernsey but i have a simple question that i would like an answer to,
Late yesterday afternoon i walked into my local game station and looked at the games. I found a whole load of copies of DBZ Burst limit (the new one) BUT i also found a copy of DBZ budokai tenkachi 3(SP)
and was unsure wich one to buy, the price difference was like £30
so i was unsure wich to get, so in your guys oppinions wich is more worth getting

Between Burst Limit and Budokai Tenkaichi 3?

The games are vastly different in how they play. Much would be up to your personal preference.

Tenkaichi, to me, feels more like you're in a DBZ battle than Burst Limit does. You can navigate the battlefield fully. With Burst Limit, you're more limited in where you can go, but the battles are still fun. Burst Limit also has a FAR greater presentation. Better graphics and effects. The story is put together better in Burst Limit than in the Tenkaichi games.

Both might be worth your time if you're into DBZ games.

I'd say GT's non-canon since the original creator of the series had no involvement.

*ah the immortal series that brought us adventure and excitement. if you talk about anime dragon ball wouldnt be out of topic and who wouldnt know this cool anime.why i remember watching it when i was a wee lad about 6 or 7 years old.it was the only anime i waited a week to see every sunday.it was kinda dull having to watch only one episode for the whole week, but now we have dvd colections, how convinient :)

*Dragon ball is still aired here on the Philippines, its been airing for 15 years now,its been a standard anime to watch if theres nothing else better to waste some time on :D

*my favorite charatcer would have to be Picolo and the almighty Gokou. its a pitty only super saians were the only stars in this series all of the other characters seem to be a nuisance after the freeza saga :) but thats only my opinion :)

*weeeeeeeeee :)

Yeah, that's what annoyed me about the later DBZ sagas too. Especially since Piccolos whole "Super-Namek" thing got blown away, and pretty much ignored, after Vegeta and Trunks came out of the time chamber.

Also it's kinda disappointing how little Bulma is in DBZ, I've been watching the old episodes of Dragonball, and Bulma is a great character, It's a shame that after the Namek saga her role was kinda minimal =/

That is one of the things that irked me about the series being that Saiyans being way overpowerd while the other characters are just sidenotes! I complainted about this awhile ago when I was playing games at my cousins house but he countered with this question "What can the other characters do?" I was stumped at first but then after some research I know now that Chiaotzu has psychic powers, Tien has psychic powers, Yamcha has a variety of energy blasts plus the Wolf Fang Fist, Krillin can utilize energy blasts as well, Piccolo supposedly possesses near godlike powers and he can regenerate. Why are the saiyans the only ones in DBZ anime hogging the spotlight? They are too overpowered! They needed to be turned down a peg to give the other characters a chance.

Piccolo as the Super Namek is still the most badass character in the series...regardless of how his power compares to the ascended super saiyans.

Scratch that. Android 16 is the most badass character. I LOVE that giant oaf.

Well another thing that kinda got to me in the DBZ series is that when an enemy is too strong and seems impossible to defeat a strange coincidence(hidden powers/power of the dragonballs) shows up and saves some of the heroes(Goku coming back to life every time till the end of GT)

Example is when Broly was nearly impossible to defeat and was beating up everyone till they give all their remaining energy to Goku then Goku punches Broly in his stomach which opens up an old wound and he blows up...that irk me a bit but I enjoyed the story about the other survivors of Planet Vegeta and then it gave a reason for Freiza to actually destroy the Planet at the hint of Broly birth...that was good and acceptable but it seemed funny that he would hold a grudge against Goku for making him cry when he was a baby...

heh whatever DBZ stories at least make sense when examined but as for the reason for them dropping characters to focus on others is the way of business I guess

Good anime actually i just finished watching DBZ about a week ago although i still like DB better.Plus there was a weird part in the story i noticed one thing I think they messed up with was the first episode of Dragon Ball Z so as it turns out Goku's brother Raditz Says that planet Vegeta was destroyed by a comet 3 years ago from the time he arrives on planet earth to see goku witch meant goku was around 15-17 years old.But if you watch the Bardok movie planet Vegeta was destroyed when goku was still just alittle baby.So anyone else that watched the Dragon Ball series notice this.

Is it me or am i just going insane.

I ain't watch DB, Z, GT or another of the other letters -__-.

When i was little i watched it a hell of alot. I hated Gohan when he was like a little kid but when he was like sorta 10-13 or so the Cell Saga and when he went all crazy and turn saiyan and pwned all the little blue Cells that was when he kicked ass.

But then when he was 15-18 or so i hated him he was kinda stupid =/.

I remember that and even if I had missed some of the episodes where Gohan fought Cell, I liked that fight but I also like how the fight against Cell ended with Cell turnung into well cells. It ws probably one of the most memorable moments in anime history.

zomg I LOVE DB! Unfortunatly my friends kept saying that it's gay so I stopped watching it just to be cool :gasp:
I have fully viewed all the series of DB and DBZ.

My favorite character is Goku. I really like it when he was Super Sayian 4 and fused with Vegeta as SS4 as well.

I think that it's amazing that Goten turned into SS1 as a child. That's most inpressive.

Personally, I despise the fact that Goten and Trunks become super saiyans at such a young age. It makes the accomplishment seem less significant. Goten and Trunks (not future Trunks) don't even endure a tragic event that pushes them to that level. They just randomly decide to transform, it seems.

They aren't even portrayed as being exceptionally powerful until they fuse together.

Agreed, Android 18 was able to handle both of them, in their super saiyan states in the World Martial Arts Tournament, yet when they fused to make Gotenks they could take on Buu? Madness.

The whole Super Saiyan was supposed to be this legendary mystical level of strength that only few are able to achieve but overtime is just became a gimmick that every character in DBZ anime can turn into Super Saiyan. LULZ
